Thank you, watched the video to near the end and when you said it also could be a clog, that was it. Used 2 old coffee cans full of hot water 💦 then put Dawn side detergent down bowel and let sit for 30 minutes, than 2 more cans of really hot water, flushed a few times and water stayed at the proper level. Thanks, again, saved some big bucks today.

A hospital bed pan works great for a drip pan when removing the water supply line. It fits under the shut-off valve and because it has a flat side, it can hug the wall unlike a round bucket. A dish pan from the dollar store also works great!

The hotel where I work has the "Sloan Flushmate" pressure assisted flush valves in all the toilets. It's a slight pain to replace one, because the entire tank needs to be removed to do it. But I got the hang of it now and can do it in less than 15 minutes.

The new fill valves have two adjustments one is for water level in tank and other is for water level in bowl. If you increase water level in bowl too much it will overfill into drain meaning the trap built into toilet can only hold so much water or pressure and if level is too high it will simply drain. When filling up listen for any noise of it draining if you hear it lower water level in bowl so you are not wasting water. Guess if you desired higher level you would have to find toilet that is designed for that. Also read instructions on new valve a clip is provided to attach fill hose onto the bowl tube and it is supposed to be 1/4 above tank level. great video thanks

You need a hard one like we had a while back. Had a Pack light not working on the side of one of the buildings and overlooks the playground. No power at light fixture wiring, but power at the breaker for it. Turns out some one pulled the conduit apart that leads to the light and cut the wires and pushed the conduit back together. LOL

I had the same low water level problem. The commode is not clogged, I changed the fill and flush valves and the water level still remains low. I have resorted to do tiny flushes to get enough water to in the bowl.

Try jamming palm of ur hand at the bottom of the fill valve and grabbing it from the tank. Them jamming the new one down, you won’t need a bucket quicker tip from a hotel maintenance guy

I have the canister type and I don’t know where any 2nd adjustment is for bowl water level . I adjusted the one but someone on here mentioned there’s another I would like to know where ? Or should I look for a bowl level video ?

Ive never seen a bowl level. It's usually the fill valve where you adjust the water. When the level in the tank is higher, it'll be higher in the bowl if the toilets not clogged. Working new construction you might see the same problem. What I have discovered the screen at the bottom of the fluidmaster might be filled with sand and dirt. No need to change just clean or remove screen.

Brother i was having the same issue but in this case my super install the new valve but instead of putting the small hose in to the tune he put it outside i just notices the small hose supposed to provide water into the the tube. This video it’s deff a saver.(sorry for the terms but it did fix my problem)

I have seen on the instruction sheets that you can remove the tops to clean internals, they usually twist off. Maybe it got undone a little when installing which could cause a leak. Instructions should be available online if you lost them.

I would just fucken LOVE to sneak into my total-joke-of-a-"Handy-man's " house; ( He is NOT a real plumber, just a lazy-ass "Cobb-Jobber") and leave a mammoth python-sized loaf in HIS fucking tank and seal the lid with gorilla glue! He literally used Lotion - NOT Real Caulk--- on the base of my toilet. I just thought---oh...I guess this white stuff takes 4-5 days to dry...not knowing any better. DUH!!! That's because it wasn't even Caulk!!! It was probably just Dollar store sunscreen or his shanker lotion! What a Dick! When he came back a week later for fucking up a bunch of other shit- I showed him and he acted all surprised. I gave hi my own caulk to use. I'd like to ram a Different kinda Cock up his ass for all the problems he's caused me...Seriously!!!! Thanks for the laugh though...sorry for the novel...Lol!

My personal opinion those new fill valves just don't hold up the way the old ballcock systems did. But that could be the way city water is treated with different chemicals nowadays.

BigKen_NJ they especially don’t do well with the chlorine based cleaner tablets you drop in the tank. If the toilet isn’t flushed a couple of times a day the chlorine becomes so strong the plastic can fail and flood the house. It can do a lot of damage especially on and upper floor.

Hmmm, those are the only issues I've seen as to why water is low. Maybe try clearing the holes that are inside the bowl under the rim.

@@LexVance Thanks for the reply. Holes inside the bowl under the rim are clear. Even if I pour water in (slowly) from a bucket into the bowl the level gradually (over the course of ~30 seconds) settles back to the low level and one can hear the water trickling out (presumably down the drain).

When starting, you should first turn off the water line, then flush the toilet. That gets rid of the water, so you dont have to hold a bucket under it to capture the remaining water. Just saying.

I have the same problem. After I replaced the valve. With new valve diaphragm it is better but after it settles the toliet bowl water level drops about a inch and a half......

Sounds like the toilets internal trap is broken. Happens a lot when someone tries to use a plumbing snake to unclog blockage and it cracks porcelain trap, only fix now is to replace toilet.

What if the valve is shooting good amount of water but the bowl still not filling up all the way is there a way to clean the overflow tube to see if there is build up in side ?

Take a brush with hard bristles and make sure the holes under the bowl where the water comes out aren't clogged. The holes go around the bowl under the seat part. You'll have to take tank off to check anything else.

I always replace the fill valve, flapper and supply line... but that's just me.

Mine fills up to the water level but then it starts draining back down towards lower spot that was shown in the beginning of your video maybe I have a cracked toilet

Hmmm, I've never had that request. Try and pinch the fill tube is what I'd do.

The parts are cheap, especially when purchased in volume. It’s just too much time in labor. Add that to the fact that the customer gets aggravated if they have to call you back and you will change the part anyway on the call back. Just swap it out and keep the client happy and move on to the next call.

woops forgot that you already had made one. yeah distracting them from the actual problem, really helps. but theres always that one that you cant please. I just learned you are never gonna please the tenants. so just do your job the best way you can, and hope for the best.
