I've seen some urinal flushometers in the men's room of my grandparents' church where water was spraying out of the vacuum breaker area when it shut off. I talked to the church's maintenance crew about it and they are planning on just changing all 2 urinal valves (shutoff, diaphragm, spud, and all) since they are like 30-35 years old.

I'm a plumber myself n have worked with these... quick tip 4 u... when u slackened the compression cap for the flushometer from the supply pipe from the wall... to prevent that copper pipe in the wall from spinning while slackening , a second gripping pipe wrench holding the pipe and grip clockwise while slackening the cap anti clockwise would help... and when tightening the opposite off course... keep up the great work
How do you hold the copper pipe with the beauty sleeve on it though? This is my main confusion and my best guess as to why you can’t hold onto the copper pipe.

Can you explain why you couldn't fix the 90 deg. shut off? I work on these sloan valves constantly. I just installed a new replacement shut off kit about a month ago and it has been working fine. One of the great things about these valves is that every part is readily available. This is the first time I have seen you replace something that I thought was very fixable. Of course it wouldn't have been so pretty and shiny when you got done. Thanks for taking the time to post the videos.
as a rule of thumb if its leaking at the shut off valve i replace the whole flushometer .i have to stuff the water off anyway .i find it easyer this way .if you want to try to fix them ,,,,go for it
Great Repair. I see a ton, ton of those leak in the same area. I guess they are known to leak around those fittings. Sometimes people kick flush the toilet, only making it worst. Geat fix! Willie.
That would be cool Steven. All the different parts to look at could sure help me out in an emergency on my job. I do have to deal with these to keep the place from flooding sometimes lol lol... We do of course use the 1.5 gal models but we do have few older ones around still lol lol... -Mike

thanks for watching justin 90% of the time i have a leaking toilet call its one of the funnel waxes i remove and never a call back .i have remove tons of them its sad

Need to clean out the pin hole in the diaphram, or replace it. If a small piece of trash the size of a grain of sand gets in the diapham hole it will just keep running.
Hey steve I work as a maintenance engineer at a hotel. The problem im having a problem with a flush valve that just water just keeps running through it and it wont stop flowing. We replaced the diaphram and vaccum breaker still water keeps coming. Any ideas??

I know this video is a few years old, but just wanted to say that I don't understand why you had to install a hole new flushometer when you could've used just a repair kit for the control stop.
Great video, I have a question, what happens if the vaccum breaker valve is fixed but now the other part you also unscrew is the one leaking? could it be the rubber o-ring? should that be also replaced to get all sealed? thanks!!!
I have a leak at the base where the goes down from the chrome down for the handle where it meets the base. But I cant shut off the main. Can I still take this off?
Man, this is cool, thanks. But my old Sloan Valve Toilet that looks a lot like the one you're working on has a valve open problem- you flush and it won't stop. I'm just thinking it's a flapper valve replacement job but have never worked on one of these before... Any ideas? Thanks again.

I'm in NYC co-op apartment (I own it) and frankly my apt seems to be at war with me lately, long story, but this morning I think the Fmeter died. If you can give guidance I'd really appreciate it.
