Tokucast Ep. 117: Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger 

Not even a minute in and I can tell this review's gonna be great

When I first saw the promo for this, I thought they were riding on the coat tails of Shinkenger and Kyoryuger so hard.

I've just finished the season of Dino Fury today and, continuing Jacobs analogy, its like they took the undercooked Ryusoulger, put a healthy potion of cheese on and put it back in the oven to make a gorgeous lagnasa

Fun fact, I thought Marcus had stopped watching Zenkaiger, and I was fine with that, but it took a while before I realized he was saying that he wasn't complaining about the show. Clearly, my ears need some work. Also, really love the singing opening.

We need another magic themed sentai

Ryusoulger is one of those shows where I see how much wrong there is with the show and know it's not great, yet I still enjoyed it regardless of those faults. Now I agree with most of the criticisms here, you aren't wrong about the show, and I understand why people don't like it. But in my case I just had fun with the show, I genuinely like the characters even with the lack of development, a few of the villains I liked well enough, really enjoyed some of the actions scenes, and I personally wasn't bored for the most part. And watching that special that just got subbed really reaffirmed my feelings on it, flawed, but I can't hate it.

The evil becomes good, and then gives Red his powers on his death bed? So just Burai again, except without the time chamber so he dies literally 24 hours later?

I find kinda of ironic that in Kyoryuger, the main five have guns to transform, while the gold had a whrist thing to transform; and in Ryusoulger, the main five have whrist things to transform and the gold have a gun to transform.

Ryusoulger was a Sentai about the Mechs. They look great and they have more characters than the actual Sentai members.

Ah yes Rysuoulger, the show I had zero expectations at first and somehow manage to disappoint me.

Thanks for another great sentai review guys I needed this since things have been a bit hectic for me & I needed some cheering up, & Jacob once again you made me laugh with you amazing opening. As for my opinion on Ryusoulger I do agree that some parts are a bit bland such as Banba's character & how they ruiined Nada's characher, but I did like the opening as well as the mechs & the mech fights. I do agree that the moda rex & Dimevolcano combination looks really stupid & the final fight really took me by surprise & the final role calls were spectatular to me. I do agree with Matt the the elder of the Ryusoul tribe should of been like the old man from Legend of Zelda & been like "It's dangerous to go alone take this" & handed them the changers & disappeared. Plus Canalo was a pain with his character, I've never seen Inyuasha so I'd have to compare him to Brock & wish someone just smacked him or pulled on his ear when he got out of line. As for Ryusoul Max that outfit looks sick & I love how it looks.

Good god, this season is fucking awful. It was seriously boring but then it ended up pissing me off with the whole Gaisorg/Nada thing which was built up so well in Strongest Battle. Good luck with Zi-O. It's not terrible like Ryusoulger but it's still bad but after that, you guys will basically be in good territory with Zero-One and Kiramager.

Oh brother, Ryusoulger. I honestly really liked the aesthetics for this show and some of the fight scenes, that’s really all that I liked. I tried watching this as it aired and couldn’t get past the first 3 episodes and still haven’t to this day cause I was so uninterested in everything, and the fact that it has no plot or interesting characters makes me already have a feeling about the show just from the first couple of episodes. But here’s the sad part, I am not liking Dino Fury at all, I’m still only 4 episodes in and that show is making me consider giving Ryusoulger another chance. It’s just, I wanted this show to be good, especially coming off of Lupat which is one of my all time favorites and even coming before Kiramager which is also one of my all time favorites, but in terms of Ryusoulger I found myself very bored and disappointed and it’s easily my least favorite sentai ever, and even though you guys probably won’t praise Kiramager, I’m very much looking forward to that review.

Damn, it really sucks that everyone hates this show because I quite liked it. I think the characters were all fine enough, but this show really excelled through production value. It easily has the best fight choreography in the franchise both for the rangers and the mechs. The swordplay, especially with Bamba, was great. Also this show pulled off the “mechs as characters” trope better than anything other season. I like the mechs better than most of the rangers and I don’t necessarily mean that as an insult the characters. It also has a really fleshed out backstory with the lore. They literally dedicated a whole episode to explaining where their powers came from and used a lot of underused keys, and it really helps there aren’t a lot of keys, at least compared to Kyuranger where there were way too many Kyutama. I loved Gaisorg because we got to see the armor in the Strongest Battle and the summer movie. They actually built it up which was nice. This show doesn’t do a lot with its characters or plot until the final arc, but I really appreciate how it focused on a lot of other things most seasons lack.

The gaisoulg armour was just a considerably worse executed version of the simular concept done with the armour of darkness in abaranger The ryusoul calibur should have been something the rest of team should have obtained considering red and gold were getting plenty of time in the spotlight as it was.

When it was revealed, I was assuming that Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger was the sequel to Zyuden Sentai Kyuryuger due to the scheme of red, black, blue, green, and pink, AND EVEN GOLD, well in terms of the suits, I do like the dino/knight helmets and the shin guards, not the rest, not the best color balance, but still good. The mechs are great for the Lego elements, my personal favorite being the KishiryuOh Three Knights, love the red, blue, and pink scheme and the sword and mace combo. The arsenal is more jagged than the past ones, and I LOVE THAT RYUSOUL MAX ARMOR, *AMAZING!!!* That is all I have to say.

the 21th century version of zyuranger

I only made it to episode 10, but Ryusoulger (based on my experience and what you all said) is one of those shows that managed to live up to the expectations set by the first look stuff in that it was a cash grab and nothing more with recycled assets. Toei or Bandai or whoever just wanted to make up the money they lost with LuPat and resorted to dinosaurs without trying to do much of anything because they thought they could coast on the episodic plot structure and the name of the brand. Even the mechs ended up being a disappointment because the super combos were just horrible (as well as left out a bunch of pieces as per the trend of these days of Sentai) and didn't even include any of the mecha beyond Red and Gold's (I know that some people prefer the mechs to not smash everything together, but they only put in Red and the Sixth in a Sentai again (refer to Kyuranger for the previous instance)). I'm kind of glad that Ryusoulger basically failed in the way of Toei and Bandai hopefully learning that they can't just do something like this and expect it to work.

Did they even explain why they left their village and living in someone garage? I gonna say house but I think literary only the garage was shown

I'm not gonna lie, I was really interested in seeing Ryusoulger, but the minute I saw an episode description about Kureon making a RU-vid video I immediately abandoned the idea of watching it

After rewatching Ryusoulger, I enjoy it a lot more, it definitely has its issues but it not the worst or the best. Also it nothing like Kyoryuger, I don't know why people think that just because its dinosaurs and their the same colours. To be honest, I also gave Ryusoulger a lot of hate when it first came out and calling it Kyoryuger 2.0 but after rewatching I enjoyed it. I also seen some people who said they like it on a second rewatched. But of course I know that not what everyone gets from this show. It's fine if you don't like Ryusoulger but I feel this sentai gets too much hate which I feel it undeserved especially watching this review. The actors did really good job on their roles and I can tell they had a great chemistry and their great people in real life. Also the reason they when with dinosaurs again because Lupat didn't sell well and I know they sold way lower than Lupat but I am sure Toei won't do dinosaurs again after what happened with Ryusoulger. Toei their not always stupid(well maybe sometimes) but I feel we also giving Toei so much hate maybe they were just playing it safe I know people will say they should have stuck with dragons and other themes true but we don't know I mean we also don't know what happened behind the scenes of Toei.

Ryusoulger is the epitome of "scraping the bottom of the barrel".

Mashin Sentai Kiramager Next ????

Even though, I like Sakuya and I am ok with Canalo, kind of weird that people find Sakuya loving for Umika funny and hate Canalo for his "looking for a wife". Mainly only talking about this part of them.

I have been waiting for this review. There are interesting elements of the show but they don’t do anything with it.

Is it too much to ask that you three do your Zi-O review it will be another Good/Bad/Terribad type review? Goodness knows it will give you plenty for you to do so (especially the last two). Once I watch it, I will have more to add in the comments for sure (at least I will try to add stuff that I haven't ranted on before).

ohhh almost forgot guys i know you'll tare apart zi-o, or at least matt and jacob will. i only want to say this, it does have problems and they can't be ignored. But in all honesty it's fun, its stupid but it's fun and the show kind of knows its that. yeah the plot that goes on through it makes no sense and the rider armors really dont look good but i want to say after the first 10 episodes they figured out 'hey this is stupid.... lets just have with everyone and end the hesei era off with a smile' that's just my take on it

I enjoyed Ryusoulger more than Lupat just to let you know I don't hate Lupat still a good show but I am not the biggest fan of it. Can't wait for Zi-O I got some problems with that show.

It fine if you don't like Ryusoulger and there are some points I do agree about the show while there are some I disagree with . But I feel like you guys and other people are giving the show too much hate. I feel like this show gets too hate ever since it air.

Not gonna lie I liked Kleon and Wiserue. I thought the whole monster maker getting treated poorly by the other generals except for one was adorable. I liked Wiserue because of how cocky and showy he was. I didn't care for the other generals/final boss at all tho.

I feel like Ryusoulger flopped in toy sales due to being too direct of being like Kyoryuger.

The One Time Dinosaur and Knights Are In Sentai Show It Boring Mess I rather Watch Kamen Rider Saber

I'll give Ryusoulger 5/10 Catchy opening, beautiful aesthetics, crazy fight choreography and great mechas (Tramigo was my fav) and the movies were pretty good. (i loved the team ups and their summer movie) the finale features one of the most epic final battles in all of Sentai, it's arguably better than it's american adaptation. (Dino stupidfury) But overall the show is just average, so-so characters, the show tended to use the Koh and Canalo more often whenever a new mecha was introduced, unfortunately pushing the other rangers aside as if Red and Gold were the main rangers, the overarching plot takes a while to develop (basically filled with filler eps) okay villians (even though Wiserue and Kleon were funny) some episodes can be bland. İt's not the best but it's just in middle of the road. (And um... Turboranger, Ohranger and Ninninger are still exist!!!)

The Ryuusoulger movies were better in my opinion.

Pre review thoughts: Ryusoulger is terrible. Lol like the aesthetics are really good: I love the sword. But the characters are so bland besides Bamba. He was the only one that seemed to develop. I thinkCanalo is one of the most bland sixth everrrr. He never evolves from his wife thing. The villains are boring; although the ending is kindaaaaaaaaaaa interesting? This show might be better binged but it's just basic Sentai of leader, girl, smart one, young one, serious one, and sixth that gets a small Arch and then just does nothing.

I thought ryusoulger was awful and I thought I was starting to get bored of sentai, luckily I genuinely liked kiramager and zenkaiger

Oh God, what has they done...in the show? It just wasted my freaking time and made me angry. Seeing how they ruined the whole Nada thing and that stupid ryusoul excalibur just pissed me off to pieces. Even that better final fight could not save how shit the show is, and I can rant for an hour for this dumpster fire.

At least Dino Fury seems to be better

It frustrates me how toku fans can’t acknowledge the good in flawed shows. The writing, story and characters in this show undoubtedly suck. However the cinematography, action and particularly the mech fights are SPECTACULAR. It’s worth pointing that stuff out.

Ryusoulger isn't the worst toku I've seen but I think it might be one of the laziest. Everything about it is just so uninspired, stupid, pointless or done better in other series. It's the most basic bitch Sentai I can think of- everything across the board is so average and forgettable. And what gets me is that it's coming off of Kyuranger and LuPat, which while not perfect, were at least trying to innovate and do something new with the formula. I'm surprised the video was as long as it was considering that there's almost nothing to say about it.

I hate Ryusoulgers, the characters was bland (the promo tease back went Ep 1 ever aired lied to me), the biggest insult is when they killed off Nada, when the show was still airing at the time by the time Ep 40 I grew tired of the show & just wish it end already.
