I was just window shopping, but I would have liked to buy about three guitars, if it had been possible. But, I did buy some Shostakovich scores. A good find. I returned one day in 2019. It's a nice place to be.
Went there last yr and bought my dream guitar a Flame Top Gibson LP Im kinda thinking of buying another guitar around there(most probably a strat) btw just noticed that anyone could steal anything since Gibsons, Fenders and PRS guitars are just displayed outside on regular stands
You would get caught. There is a Koban right near the station, and so many people would be on you if you stole one. PLUS..... there are hundreds of cameras in all of the shops, as well as security cameras on the streets, and in the train stations. The police would have access to all of them soon after you stole something, and would probably be at your hotel the same day. I've been living in Japan for 12 years and see that shit on the news from time to time. They practically have footage of every single step the criminal took on video during his escape.

I would not touch most of those "vintage" guitars with a 10 foot pole. The japanese were masters of counterfeiting guitars in the 80's and 90's. Not to say that they are ALL fake, but buyer beware. Now the limited edition, Japan only ESP's, Ibanez...the Japanese Fenders...HELL yeah. Awesome guitars.
That's why you go there. To play them. If they feel good and sound good, they are good. I'd pay big brand price for anything that feels and sounds amazing.
There is little attempt at counterfeiting. They simply make a model that looks like the original, slap a new name on it, and often times it plays better than the original.

Not a single manufacturer would tarnish their reputation and get their doors shut in shame by doing so. That would be utterly stupid, just the same as it is utterly stupid for you to think so. China? @@andrewc0128 Actually, I know the difference....Gibson and Fender do NOT have plants in Japan OR China. I'm the one that has had to repair the defective ones brought back to the states. And I do not mean Epiphones and Squires. 'Genuine' Gibsons with tiny 30 cent pots in them, rattling truss rods. Non Switchcraft switches, tiny rattly square box switches that fall apart, pots with metric nuts... Gibson SG's with control plates that bare fit. You do not know what YOU are talking about. Did you get stuck with one and are trying to convince yourself that it's real...?

Different geographically, different foods, different attitudes, different languages and definitely different morals, especially recently. Any Gibson you see in Ochanomizu, or in any shop of any size is authentic and from a Gibson factory. I couldn't even begin to say just how ignorant you are about authenticity in Japan. I have lived here for 12 years, and I guarantee you that it would be all over the news in a heartbeat if a guitar shop was caught selling fake Gibsons, or any other big name brand in any products. You and your racist friends who can't differentiate between Asians should just keep your stupid mouths shut because you are displaying a fuckton of retardedry with such ignorant statements.
