Tokyo Marui AKM GBBR Basic Cleaning and Maintenance Guide (Airsoft) 

Perfect timing. I just noticed yesterday, when my point of impact had shifted suddenly and I could not re-zero it with the sights, that my front sight and possibly barrel were loose. I planned on pulling it apart and checking to see what the problem was this weekend, but now I know what to look for an how to correct it. For lubrication, I use moly grease on hammer, sear and rails, and silicone oil or grease on rubber parts. The reason is that silicone is not the best for metal-on-metal parts and moly (in theory) binds better to metal. But yes, use it and all lubes very sparingly. Very informative video as always. The most informative, useful, and interesting airsoft channel on RU-vid. You convinced me to add the TM AKM to my collection of airsoft and I am glad that I did.

Like your cleaning guide to the MWS, this is a another easy-to-follow video. Particularly like how you're not a slave to cleaning pre and post game. These are toys, not real steel. Looking forward to a similar MP7 video now 😀

Hi Ollie With this being your most recent video on the AKM I'll leave this here, I finally got round to getting a marui AKM for myself, and I am absolutely infatuated with this thing, years and years of struggles between running both WE and GHK AK's, once again you take it out the box, and every single problem the others have is non existent here, the design and engineering on this this is truly just taking Marui to a different level I've been doing my research, getting up to speed with all the best market offerings and getting the most out of your AKM etc, but there is only one thing I've noticed, in all the videos I've seen, the Marui AK cant really ever clear a mag in full auto with a consistent fire rate, have you noticed this at all? I know about the bowmaster, and that the stock springs are a little sluggish but I like the heavier thud it gives, but can't help but notice, it almost fires too slow for its own good (I know its supposed to be similar to real 600rpm of the akm) Have you done anything to get it clearing mags consistently?

Me being lazy I just take a parts cleaner or brake cleaner and just hose the whole thing down and reapply all grease after drying, Of course I avoid and hand clean the nozzle seals and hop area

Help! I did this and the bolt sometimes stays stuck half a cm before the return position. I feel like it might be the nozzle that doesn't slide back into place.

Hi, I’ve seen 500mls of 100% silicone oil for £18, in a bottle, not aerosol, with no propellant additives. Advertised as for treadmills. Do you think this would be ok for the akm internals? Seems a lot of oil for the money. Thnx

Love your content on the tm akm, i ordered the 130% spring and bucking you showed off in your videos. I have a question for you. Have you tried the bow master nozzle valves? Looking at the description for the high power one, it claims that it can increase the fps to 440. I wanted to know if you have tried them, know about them and recommend them? Thanks

Did you ever change out your barrel? Remember you putting a ML silicone in there, I know the stock barrel is like 220mm.. Was thinking about something a bit longer. But then that might pump the FPS a bit, someone mentioned asg gas too but I'm also in Norwich so the weather mostly sucks ass all the time so I'm not sure on gas either -___- 134a/144 :S

One question tho. How do I clean my barrel? I see everybody uses the cleaning rods that came with the rifle. But I bought mine used. And didn't got any cleaning rod with it. And all the AS shops I know don't sell them separately... very frustrating 😤😅

Are there replacement nozzles for this airsoft gun yet? Or are the nozzles backwards compatible with the mws? Seems like TM thinks this one ain’t gonna break anytime soon. Ain’t no replacement parts (nozzle/return spring) it’s been 2 yrs. Wtf

Thank you for sharing your knowledge once more. Have you tried a hop rubber(gbb5) from Begadi? I'm using it and I'm loving it, you should have a try on it. I'm trying to do a stock of spare parts for my TM AKM but I can't find any information about the nozzle on it, is it the same for MWS M4?

Hey Ollie, For those who decide to HPA tap this AKM, being that we use other forms of air instead of green gas, how would you maintain the gun in comparison to this video? I know lubricants is a must. Do you have another gun that you perhaps did this GBBR to HPA and have a different cleaning method? I assume as per the video, you clean it like you did. Do I just go back and add silicone grease/oil to the metal parts? Avoid the inner barrel as grease/silicone oil shouldn’t be there when shooting

Hi Ollie, how compatible are the internals of the marui AKM and MWS? I want to put an NPAS adjustable fps nozzle into the AKM, but i can only find nozzles that are made for the MWS. Similarity, I have similar issues with finding barrels, hopups, and whatnot. Some people tell me that any GBBR barrel or hopup will fit in the tokyo marui. is that true?

Can I ask which 'lube' you are using?
