In the summer of 2019, I took my four boys to Toledo, Spain, alone. Toledo is a 30-minute speed train ride from Madrid; this makes it a popular day trip. Instead of a day trip, we opted for a week to immerse ourselves in the “City of three cultures” since Christians, Muslims, and Jews created it.
We ate at Casa de Cardinal, which has an exceptional roasted pig dish. We visited the Greco and Alcazar museums and soaked up these rambling medieval streets. We shopped at the local market and attempted to make Gazpacho with Tortilla Espanola.
We found a public swimming pool and watched local handicrafts being made. I even received a facial near the apartment before we left; each boy purchased a wooden sword.
