I think Brady is saying that if you start the rookie immediately, you not only have to use a restricted playbook, but you also have to focus on winning as many games as possible. That probably leads coaches to focus on the things the rookie does well today at the expense of investing in his development and losing some games during the learning process.

All these rules changed helped Brady career go longer too so just enjoy what is there and be grateful

I've long said that rookie QB's should not start. They need time to develop and learn. However, the problem now is those huge contracts any and every QB gets after their rookie deal, so you have to play them asap.

Brady criticizing rules that came about specifically to keep him healthy. Rules that he used to flourish and play much longer than anybody should have is as arrogant and narcissistic as it gets.

Tom forgetting the league changed the rules when he got hurt. His offensive line never got called for holding and sometimes he just threw the ball up and got a phantom roughing the passer call or pass interference call🥱rigged

If your team can't use nost of the playback, then you are hurting the rest of the team. If my wide receivers and backs and O Line have been in the system for a few years and you bring in a quarterback and cut the playback in half the team is going to lose the passion and hope that comes with a new season because you're not using the entire playbook in important games.

its not all on the coaches, with the new cba it limits the amount of practices you can have, the amount of full contact practices you can have. They dont play in preseason, so the first month of the season is basically a tune up....

I've been watching football about 20 years now Tom Brady is correct 💯💯💯 even teams who never ran the Spread offense in college football fired coaches and they hired guys who knew how to do it because of that Quarterbacks come in the NFL not knowing how to run the "Pro Style Offense" even my team held out of spread offensive Style for years until 2020

I don't think Brady is necessarily wrong but I do think that his comments are missing context. Teams with an established QB might draft a rookie who may never see the field. The ones who do start their rookie QB are doing so because the guy they had the year before is being replaced. If that guy is a veteran like Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers then you can afford to have Mahomes or Love sit for a year. You want them to learn and you have a guy valuable enough to teach him. When you're the Bears and the guy you had before is Justin Fields are you going to sit Caleb for a year when the guy ahead of him is arguably worse? There's no better teacher than experience and in situations like the Bears, Commanders, or Panthers the best way to get that experience is to play. Hopefully the teams have a long term plan and understand that this guy probably isn't going to be ready for 2-3 years.

The league has made defenses weak. PI’s called earlier, the protection of the QB where it’s almost flag football (Brady’s fault) you can’t strike fear into receivers bc of CTE.
