I'm currently reading the original masterworks of issues 1-10 by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby. After 2 issues so far I can say that the X-men books were about good vs evil. The Miraculous Magneto using metal to send evil messages in the sky, the heroes stop the bad guys plans and we move on to the next adventure. No traces of "The X-men were always like this" shenanigans found in the original work.

The characters are dead. I don't read comics anymore, but I keep up with solicitations, just in case. But an X-team book called Marauders, and even with Shadowcat as a member (iirc), just knowing the history with that name, they would NEVER use that for themselves. NEVER. These characters look like the X-Men but they are not the heroes I know and love.

Isn't it funny how the concept of the multiverse is there are infinite versions of the character, but when a time displaced Bobby Drake was mind swapped to be gay, EVERY version of Bobby is gay too??? I would love a writer with the balls to bring an Iceman from some other dimension to replace this Iceman.

The Dazzler book isn't even a solo book. Domino, Strong Guy, Wind Dancer, and Shark Girl are all gonna be recurring characters. Where are Cable and the New Mutants? Did Vita and Anders make that team radioactive toxic or something?

I agree, Wes. Fake is a really accurate term given the context. I’ve been using another term when the issue comes up, but it’s my opinion of many of the creators involved, rather than the books themselves: lazy. Regardless of the universe, the characters, the publisher, etc. I have a great degree of respect for any creative types who put in the hard work of creating original material and ideas. It isn’t easy, I’m sure, given how many ideas have been published at this point in illustrated story-telling history. Retreads, reboots, restarts, derivatives and so on have, sadly, become more the norm for Marvel and DC, and their books and their sales show it. The thing, in my opinion, that made the classics classic was class. The creative hard work and integrity of the people doing the work. Creative work ethic hasn’t disappeared. There are those who still have it, and it shows in their material, but, in my opinion, it’s becoming more and more a rare thing. I’m not sure what it’s going to take, but something needs to happen that will shake the industry to its foundations, leaving only what’s solid remaining when the dust is cleared.

If Storm is on the Avengers, the X-Men lose more than the Avengers gain. If they want a "mutant voice" in the team, why don't they call good ol' Hank McCoy? Or Rogue. Rogue is not as essential to the X-Men as Storm and she was part of the Uncanny Avengers team. But she's not available. Maybe Angel would make a cool Avenger, but he is already part of X-Factor, the team that will be the "Avengers-like" version of the X-Men.

If someone could pass this message to Marvel.... I just ordered the three volumes of Justice League Omnibus by Giffen and DeMatteis although I read them when they were published as monthlies. Still remember when I was a kid, my Uncle came from work and handed me a comic he found: " And Who Shall Stop the Juggernaut ", my Introduction to the NEW XMEN😮. I was always an AVENGERS fan but this team, with a pretty Black woman on the floor crying, with a " Demon" flipping around and a supercool looking " Steel guy"? The only one I recognized back then was the " loudmouth" feral Dude in the yellow Costume from a Hulk book. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with, not only the group but the Dynamic, Action filled art of Dave Cockrum.....Book became SUPER SUCCESSFUL for years, BUT in those times, the era was often " Colored" by super popular ARTISTS. Byrne, Silvestri, Liefeld, Jim Lee ,Capullo, Portacio.....Superstars. And although Xmen helped MAKE them stars, in those days Creative stars made for killer SALES. I Dont think that the Xmen as Characters, are that SPECIAL, and thats why most CAN'T carry their own book... Apart, They Have NEVER been the strong characters like THOR, IRON MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, BATMAN, SUPERMAN, HULK, And Spider-Man , That can CONSISTENTLY maintain A mainstay comic for DECADES. I think that with the cartoon iterations and the many movies, they have reached their peak already and are now" past its prime."... TOO MANY other good books and great CONCEPTS to compete with in a shrinking marketplace.... " Mutants as Outcast " is a cool concept but Without the SUPERSTARS helping these books like in times past,????😮 ..." Earths Mightiest Heroes", " Bat Family", " Speed Force", Lantern Corps", " Spider Family "" Kryptonian Family" are HEAVY COMPETITION in the race for that dollar... Even if the books ARE good, those "other concepts " have a big fanbase too... Xmen will NEVER be " The Belle of the Ball" again. Even in the Cinema they NEVER took off like The Avengers, The Guardians, Spider-Man ....Even Black Panther, Thor Ragnarok, Aquaman and Iron Man 3 easily beat Xmen box office. In general, there are too many comics. If they just concentrated on at most 3 Xmen comics and poured money into those then maybe they can produce something good. Then again they’ve already destroyed the Xmen so good luck with that.

From the look of things Tom Breevort era is going to make early Krakoa, which had at least a few borderline passably mediocre books (Hickman X-Men, Percy Wolverine X-force, Hellions) for a few months look like a freaking masterpiece.

Dazzler is a four issue miniseries. Iceman's boyfriend is Romeo, an Inhuman introduced in All New X-men.

Iceman was my favourite character since seeing him as a child in 1981 in the Spider-Man and his amazing friends and then after a lifetime he is gay after chasing Lorna Dane and numerous other women we’re supposed to believe he was in the closet well the character has never recovered but he ain’t the only character changed for there message probably why their heading to another bankruptcy

Storm has been on the Avengers before. She was on the team just before AVX.

I am actually looking forward to Storm being on the Avengers team to give her more freedom and then follow it with her cosmic adventure and ascension. I really love what is planned for Storm so far. Storm is not married to the X-men and she has many other connections outside of X-Men, plus X-Men is way too small for her now. Regardless of how many X-men fan dislike that, it is the truth. Storm outgrew X-men the moment Al Ewing took over her with her unimaginable power build. She was bound to leave the X-men, plus X-men fans should be happy that Storm gets the opportunity to grow into her own solo character. I seriously don't get people who have such big issues with her leaving the X-men and going to the Avengers for a bit and then solo.

So, the group editor of the Avengers moves to the X-Men and turns one of the most important X-Men chatacters into an Avenger... I'm not surprised. But still, why? Wouldn't it be better if Storm was part of Cyclops' X-Men team instead of "Temper" (Oya)? Who cares about Oya? Who cares about Kid Omega? Why is Juggernaut the muscle of the team instead of Colossus? Why? WHY?! Excuse me. Anyway. The guy writing the Avengers will also be writing the X-Men and he will deal with mutants in both books apparently. And, Storm will have her own "ongoing series" that will actuallly be mini-series while being an Avenger, like she is friggin Iron Man.

I wish they would focus on one X-Men comic and just make it good instead of just all these different titles upcoming when Marvel needs to convince me to buy their book. Psylocke wasn't split in half. Betsy and a mutant named Kwannon swapped bodies back in the last 80's. Betsys original body (with Kwannons mind in it) died of the Legacy Virus. Betsy recreated and got her original body back and Kwannon was restored to her original body. Kwannon took on the name Psylocke and Betsy became Captain Britain

A Marvel editor made a good point? I must have phase shifted into an alternate universe on accodent again. "Fake stories" are why my investment in the Marvel Universe as a universe ends with the satisfying ending of Jomathan Hickman's Secret Wars from 2015 (and 2019's Doomsday Clock at DC).

I got to be honest, the stuff Marvel put out within first couple years of getting Star Wars back was good. So if White was in charge of that I can't say anything bad about it. Sales and reactions were good. I think maybe he just doesn't understand the X-Men. Or his ideals are so caught up in DEI that he can no longer see quality of skills over superficial visual characteristics of people. Storm in Avengers...WHY? What point does it serve? If you are trying to re-center and re-establish the X-Men, sticking Storm in another book unrelated to the X-Men makes no sense. You have enough quality Avengers not being used now, so a X-Man coming over doesn't make sense. Yeah Dazzler...I don't wanna hear about how she sold a gajillion comics with her #1 back in 1981. I have honestly enjoyed more of the various Krakoa books than I have disliked. I agree that it's incredibly difficult to keep up with overall canon with the shear volume of monthly physical and digital books. I still don't know how Legion became a gun.

It’s not all that unusual for people to come out of the closet later in life, even after they have been in heterosexual-type relationships, marriages, and having had families. My uncle Bobby came out in his 50’s. He’d been married to a woman for almost 30 years, and they had three kids together. He had been unhappy for a while and started drinking a lot of booze. He decided he didn’t want to drink himself to death, got sober, and came out. He’s now living with a guy he knew in high school. He’s friends with his ex-wife, my cousins are fine with the whole thing, and everyone is content. So Iceman figuring out he’s gay isn’t such a stretch of the imagination.

Tom Brevoort is the same as Jordan D. White. He shouldn't be talking as if he isn't because he has no good ideas. None of his writing was ever good. The X-Men is a dead brand name and him working on the X-Men as if he is going to fix them in Marvel Comics is totally delusional. When you have Cyclops, Phoenix and Wolverine ruined because they are in a polyamorous, sexually fluid relationship and Iceman ruined because he went from being a straight character to a stereotype of a flamboyantly gay character, and when you have Rachel Summers and Betsy Braddock both ruined because the two of them went from being a couple of straight characters to being characters that are a couple of lesbians, there is no fixing the X-Men. Even if the Krakoa nonsense is over, it doesn't matter. Everything is now ruined forever. Tom Brevoort is not going to be able to turn the X-Men back to normal. No one ever will.
