You wouldn't think you could even come close to the sound of the record doing this live, so check this out. That's as good a performance as you'll ever hear on something that was such a great studio masterpiece.
@@Jonnycrows Glad that you know that’s what it is! Most people are surprised when I tell them it’s a pedal steel. 🤘😜 Glad I got to see them play this live back in 1982!! Kenny Greer killed it that night.
Agreed. I tried to find other songs of their I like but can’t find many. Lunatic fringe is awesome. They only have 1 song but they do it rrrrrrreal good
See you later, and take that Middle Age! You are no match for the best of late 80s rock. The Vision Quest soundtrack is like an elixir of life; never fails to inspire.
I remember jammin on this song when I was a teenager. Smokin lots of weed and listenin to Tom Sawyer, take a risin shotgun and listen to Ah Leah, Crazy Train, Stormtroopin, Stranglehold, Back in Black. Didn’t have a care in the world 🌬️
Terrific band, and unbelievable how timeless and poignant the lyrics are. And can we take a sec to admire the fact the guitar solo is pedal steel? I mean, damn.
One of the most criminally underrated singers and band in music history. Can you say the Symphony Sessions? That music was sublime and I wonder if anyone has ever heard them.
You're not the only one who thought this was Floyd. It has a very Floyd feel and context. I've said many times, I would kill for a Pink Floyd live cover of this song. Can you even imagine??
I think it's the fact we actually SEE them performing it. The studio version and the "Official" video version is just Tom "playing" and the rest of the band standing around. (I'm assuming the "Official" video version is just lip-synch to the studio version.) NOW we see what it's like for the whole band to perform it. I'm sure they're a little more pumped knowing it's being recorded in front of a live audience. I'm normally not a fan of live performances - there are always compromises to accommodate the venue - but this is nicely done.
C'mon, give respect to the person who decided to tell the world he'/she/it is a complete douchebag. I only wonder why he/she/it did this anonymously. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Red Rider was my favorite band in the 80's. Ken Greer was a fantastic lead guitar player and added that trippy steel guitar in his solos. Band leader Tom Cochrane was a great songwriter and singer. Check out the albums "Neruda" and "Breaking Curfew" from 1983 and 1984 respectively. You won't be disappointed.
Nothing goes away...good music always comes back around. More relevant today than it was when originally recorded in the 80's. If this doesn't apply to the Q-tip heads who attached the Capitol and call themselves "The Storm," I don't know what does.... "In the twilight's last gleaming, it's open season...you gotta blame someone for your own confusion...we're on guard this time...can you feel the thunder?" Absolutely prophetic.
If you want to go there, then pick up a history book... Marx himself was not only a Jew but he had a reputation for humanitarianism and tolerance. Not about Marxists. Could be about the Nazi's. But whether it's about the Q-tips or the Nazi's, all such groups "gotta blame someone for their own confusion." It applies to the haters of each generation.
I've always loved this song. Great one hit wonder, pretty amazing they pulled it off live like this. First time I heard it as a kid was in Miami Vice when I was 10-12. Lotta great songs used on that show!
