Who is your top choice to play Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps? Would you be okay with him dying in the first film?

David S. Goyer was writing the script where apparently he died. Cruise turned it down but then Geoff Johns picked it up and Tom Cruise is back in ans is the frontrunner.

I like TC but it seems odd that they would go with an older actor. Haven't they learnt from casting Affleck as an old Batman?

Why not Tom Cruise, I'm sure the fans don't want to see the main GL dye either. We want to see Hal as a match to the Superman power, the way it used to to be in the Justice league of America. no more stupid glass constructions. He supposed to be fearless as Batman to be chosen by the ring, that's the whole point right?

I don’t mind Tom Cruise but it’s pretty clear how short that man is lol I mean I know he’s been able to have his movies make him look taller but I’m just thinking about seeing him stand next to Henry, Affleck, and Jason M in a Justice League movie. It just seems weird visually because Hal has always seemed to be drawn tall

I'm kinda okay with this, he's a great actor. Edit: and also fits what DC is going for with some characters(i believe). Like Batman to show them several years after they've been that hero. And i think that's what they gonna do with Green Lantern corps.

Tom Cruise is 56 years old (3 years older than me, tbh). The only way I could see him being cast as Hal Jordan would be if he's playing an older Hal who's going to pass on the mantle and go away. If they're casting an older Hal, my first choice would be Nathan Fillion, although I don't really see that happening, as I'm sure the producers only see him as a "TV actor" at this point, but nonetheless, he'd be my choice. There are several other good choices, I'm sure. But if they decide to go with Tom Cruise, I wouldn't expect him to stick around long.

HE’S TOO OLD SND TOO F*CKING SHORT!!! What is the deal with all of these short actors playing superheroes? Gal Gadot, for all of her beauty and talent, was about 4-5 inches too short! Henry Cavill is 6-1 or 6-2, and he looked shorter in his Superman costume. Christopher Reeve was 6-4 and looked every bit the part of Superman! Tom Cruise is 5-8. He’s way too short to play a superhero, other than the Flash. They just keep f*cking up! Arnie Hammer or Gabriel Macht would be better choices for Hal Jordan/GL.

I don't love starting with an old Hal Jordan. The "passing the torch" storyline would have MUCH more impact if we had some Hal Jordan movies first. The DCEU isn't coming together very well in part because they seem to expect people to automatically love the characters - oh, this is Hal Jordan, and the audience will feel the emotional impact if he dies. Um, not so much if he dies immediately. First, we haven't had time to care too much about him; second, they'll probably just resurrect him. That's why I didn't have any emotional reaction when Superman died in BvS. I knew that they weren't going to leave him dead, even before the floating rocks occurred. Now, if he had died after three Superman movies and two JLA movies, then MAYBE they would have left him dead until an inevitable reboot or Crisis type of storyline. But in the second DCEU movie? Not a chance. They might leave Hal dead since they can use Jon Stewart, but I just won't care very much about a character I've seen in a single movie, who isn't going to be the sole focus of that movie (assuming Hal serves as a mentor for Jon; maybe JS comes in at the very end, when Hal's ring finds JS?). It just seems like every time I hear DCEU news, my reaction is, "No, that doesn't sound like a good idea. They're approaching this in the wrong way."
