This perfume smells awful sprayed on a card, bad way to judge it. It absolutely melts into my skin, and becomes a lush, beautiful masterpiece. I get compliments on this all the time.
Well this perfume is very polarizing. It's love/hate. I wear BO only for certain occasion when I'm wearing black suit and performing on stage. Some girls said that I smell mysterious. And yeah, as a magician I love it.
If you smell this freshly sprayed.. on a card.. you won’t rate it high.. if you smell it off someone’s skin.. around 3-4 hours after it’s been sprayed.. you will ADORE it. This fragrance simply cannot be judged from paper. I personally always compliment people who wear this fragrance. All this being said.. I DO prefer velvet orchid. DELICIOUS.
I didn’t like it at first but after I had it on awhile I started to love it and since I had it on a coat a few days later it still had a scent that was so nice I really loved it
I wore this at a party last night, I received so many compliments, more than I can remember from most fragrances, so go figure... and I absolutely love it, it has to be worn to be appreciated, not sprayed on a paper strip. An original unique masterpiece in my opinion. 10/10
I am loving this - it opens up so much over time, and you can’t judge it from a paper. It changes SO much depending on the person wearing it and their skin/oils. It definitely mellows out and hits all the right notes on me.
I wore this on a date once. I had it on my neck, and since practically the entire time her head had been resting on my shoulder, the smell stuck to her hair. It smelled so beautiful and better on her hair than it did on my skin or jacket. It's as if the fragrance adapted and changed on her, thus creating another aspect of its aroma. I'll never forget that date because of this fragrance lol.
These types of fragrances won’t get a lot of positive feedback when you ask random people off the street because it’s not a safe scent. I personally love it.
This fragrance is not suppose to be super loved by everyone. It is thought provoking. It is different and strong. I don’t see this being worn by the average everyday person. You have to have a certain personality to pull this off. You wouldn’t see someone deep and interesting to be wearing a super normal fragrance right? This is made for interesting people.
Smelled it on a card and i didnt like it, but once i sprayed it on my wrist after a few hours i couldnt stop smelling it. I had to buy it, and its been a compliment god for me. Mixes real well with my skin, glad i tried it on my wrist before leaving.
My winter go to scent!! Sort of a signature scent during the winter time for me. I wear it to work & I get compliments. I was recently told by a lady that she could just follow me all day.
I give this a 9,5/10. When I first smelled it at the store and on a card I did not really like it. I sprayed it on myself and oh my God I am obsessed. It smells very unique and it is intriguing. I understand people who don't like it though. It Is different and not for everybody.
This fragrance smells so unique. It’s not like an everyday one you’d smell when walking by someone. I see this as a head turner not necessarily because it’s oh so amazing (I do think it’s amazing though) but because it’s a rich deep scent that’s unique and more of a personal scent than a safe scent that everyone will love
This is my go to fragrance. The opening isn't that wow'ing. But once the dry down hits this becomes a masterpiece. I get complimented it at least once every two days. Usually more.
I used to wear this all the time, before it got more popular, and I ALWAYS got compliments on it. I gave whole bottle to my friend who is male, and I loved it on him. I gave it away, because I am a snob that does not want to smell like others. But I still love this fragrance.
It is a stunning cologne/perfume that changes with you during the day or night... it is amazing, but it is not for everybody.... if it sinks with your skin... u are a lucky bastard!!!
I have used 3 100 ml bottles of this one and it is with distance the most complimented fragrance I`ve ever had. It beats Aventus, it beats Pegasus, Reflection man, Sauvage and many others. Works amazing on my skin. Unfortunately I can`t stand it any more. And it got very popular in the last 4-5 years. My taste has also evolved and/or changed, therefore I would never buy it again, but will respect it forever.
I receive many compliments with this one. I actually don't really like how it smells from the bottle directly, or even from a paper, but it works soo good with my body chemistry, I love it. My fiance loves it too. Sadly, it doesn't last on my skin, and the sillage is week too. I appreciate the uniquness of this fragrance.
Just bought this . It smells very unique and weird , it lasts long and every hour I smell something different... the first time you will smell chocolate then vanilla then something so spicy and good . But at first spray its not that good but after like 10 mins it will smell so good
I thought Black Orchid is a signature fragrance for women. It smells absolutely intoxicating on me. It is so unusual and yet so classy and sophisticated.
I'm living in Germany and no one would just give a stranger a compliment. They'll think it's creepy. In my 12 years living here, I've only got one compliment for my perfume and it was from a lady with a middle eastern background. But I do get compliments from the people that I know when I wear a nice perfume.
I have it in eau de toilet and it isn’t so polarizing as the eau de parfum one. I love it on my skin tbh. I think it smells differently on everyone. I don’t get many compliments when i wear it but definitely i got some. For me it’s unique and a statement. It doesn’t have to be a crowd pleaser but it says something about urself and that’s the essence of fragrance in my opinion.
It all depends on who is wearing it. I love the smell, it's unique, but on me (female) is okayish. I know a guy who wears this all the time, it has been his signature for ages, even before it became wildly popular and he smells absolutely fantastic. He's Greek, tall, dark and handsome and suits him perfectly.
It’s crazy I smelled this at the mall and it blended so well on my skin! I got 4 compliments leaving the store! It’s interesting because on the card I didn’t prefer it lol.
What can i said ! When i smell it i feels like " this is not my type of parfum " but after few hours the smell start getting better and better then i start fall in love with this parfums actualy im going to buy one of these today !

Omg of course smelling it on a card you won’t get the true scent that way!!! I absolutely adore this fragrance, I get like the BEST compliments when I wear this. Even as the hours go by it starts to smell even nicer and nicer. So unique and beautiful.
Some people have to live for themselves, if you like the cologne. No matter what the world says. Keep being you. At the end of the day you came out the womb alone. Great review.

I started wearing this one recently and I get compliments every time. Used to wear Prada Luna Rosa Black mostly but the Black Orchid has become my favourite.

The way Black Orchid smells on my strong body scent, is absolutely stunning. I turn EVERYTHING and this one turns into heaven on me. It's all about the chemistry.
Black orchid was my absolutely favourite perfume for very long time. I was wearing it almost every winter day no matter day or night but i got bored from it. Many people (men and women) like it on me but its not everyone's taste. It's very dark and unique. You should do some kind of a video in which you could suggest what perfumes would people like if they like Black orchid (as me because i got bored haha). I really like your channel :)
You can’t be throwing Black Orchid under someone’s nose right after it is sprayed. I HATE the first couple of minutes of this fragrance. It’s gnarly. But - once that dry down starts, I am in heaven. It’s rich and complex and sensual. I love it.
This was a superb review, because you described the scent in human terms, and gave a comparison/contrast with other well known scents. Most reviewers fail because they expect non-experts to be able to imagine the scent from a list of ingredients and technical terms. The blind tests were also very informative.
I love it because it's different, I definitely get the dark chocolate but I don't get any sweetness, the uniqueness of this fragrance is everyone who wears it gets something different
I'm a 38 year old English guy and this is my absolute fave ..... For any occasion at any time. I started wearing this because lots of people said they like it but now I like it so much i don't care what people think. This and creed aventus are very popular in my world. I choose this every time though. At night i like to smell good around the house so at the moment I spray on Polo red Edp or a aventus fake.... But before I spray them on I smell my black orchid bottle 😍
I personally own this, it is the type of fragrance where you wanna be known. You step in the room wearing this and everyone gonna be like bam whos that lmfao. Its one of those fragance where you either love it or hate it.
Whoop! Whoop! Black Orhid is one of my signature scents. It's very mysterious and I always get compliments when I wear it. A little goes a long way and lasts a longtime.
Just bought this yesterday. It's pretty good and the fragrance smells even better throughout the day as it dries on your skin. Finally gonna be ditching Tobacco Vanille as my daily driver.
I really wanted to love this one. I absolutely love velvet orchid and other rich , full florals and being polarizing doesn’t bother me. I wanted more of the chocolate , spice and florals to come through but on me it’s smells of only tuber and incense, very earthy and mature.
I walked into a huge office building the other day. I stepped to the reception desk, the lady behind the desk (and behind the plastic screen, hey 👋 COVID times ) smelled so good and to be honest the whole area smelled amazing!! I asked her what perfume she was wearing. It was the Black Orchid. Just smelled divine, I couldn’t resist to order it online immediately 😄 I would never personally test a perfume on a card and this particular perfume is for ladies 💯 % only.
I actually thought this one 😷... but I left the shirt out I sprayed it on and later that day it smelled so good I was like omg 😳 I don’t care I feel as you wear it the smell changes and I get commitments all the time.... I want baccarat rouge next 😏
I smelled it on my friend (guy) and I have to say it is the best perfume I have smelled. It has a warm friendly aura that I just want to stand closer. He was extrovert so I see where it matches his energy.
Amazing fragrance for men.... try on your skin... do not spray on paper... it will not do it... This fragrance changes all along... it keeps a very interesting vibe...but be very light... it is not sweet at all when on a guy's skin... yet, since our skin is different, it will be different in all of us...worth to try it.. absolutely!! Last a long time.. better for late in the day... great summer and winter nights..
I have it, I love it, almost never wear it though. So they don’t like it, I can’t let their dislike for it become mine. I will continue to wear my favorite shirt also, ugly as it may be to some.
This is my favorite fragrance of all time. My dad had all the best fragrances in his cabinet when I was growing up and the two that stood out to me the most even up until now was Gucci Guilty and Tom Ford black orchid!
I love this and also my girlfriend, I can highly recommend this if you don't want to smell like everybody else. I prefer to stand out so this one fits me great.
I bought this perfume blindly, just based on various reviews. When I smelled the scent for the first time, I felt like the scene with Baldini in the movie (The Perfume). Shortly afterwards, I immediately ordered a second bottle of the EDP and a bottle of the perfume version. Extraordinary fragrance!
Most important is the dry down, that is what other people will smell on you and compliment you. I never understand smelling perfumes on a card. When I go to a store to buy perfumes, I test them on my skin only and come back after 1 hour and decide what I will buy. The opening of a perfume is to prepare the nose for the dry down. I never liked Dior Sauvage when I smelled it on a card and I never bothered to buy it the first 2 years. I did complement other people wearing it because what I liked was the dry down. Always test on skin and wait 1 hour before you judge a perfume!
I understand it’s all subjective, but now I really have to question your judgement on this one. It’s a masterpiece and of course it’s not going to “wow” anyone off a card of all things. It smells amazing and is my most complimented fragrance from my collection by a long shot. It also lasts for nearly a week if sprayed on clothes and all the while never losing its luster. This is the only Tom Ford I’ve purchased twice aside from Tobacco Vanille (I only need so much of the TV bc I only wear it during the holiday season).
I wear this for 2 years now, it’s my signature scent and 70% of the people i encounter compliment me on my smell 😅 maybe better for women although i first smelled it on a guy.
This perfume is after half an hour soooo unexplainily beautiful. When I first smell it I didn't like it, but AFTER some time I felt in love. But this is surely perfume for a person with a personality! In my opinion, not for man.
Till this day I still don't get the hate on black orchid. This isn't called a unisex fragrance without reason. This is my signature scent and often earns a lot of compliments. If you wear this with confidence this works great for men
This perfume doesn't smell very good until it settles into its deeper notes. The first time I put it on it was as a sample from a magazine. Put it on my wrists and didn't like it at all. Then about 30-40 minutes later I thought "oh wow what is that amazing smell," and it was the black orchid. Had to have it after that. Definitely smells better on women IMO.
