You guys made me cry listening to this. Maybe I'm missing Neil, or maybe it just touched something deep down because it's so well done. Seriously, you hit on all the elements that make this song great and tapped into all the energy that was in the room way back when the original was recorded. Well done. I will be donating as well.

I have been listening to a version of this tune on a Kim Mitchell live album for 25 years or so. It's always bugged me that I wasn't sure exactly what the lyrics were, so this morning in my little Manitoban cabin, throwing logs in the stove (it's -40 outside) I set out to find the lyrics, then finally understood what it was about, then found out about the Rush connection (I had never heard the original studio version), and now this. Holy frak. I'm kinda choked up to be honest, and more than a little embarrassed to have been so ignorant. And me, a Canadian fan of both artists. Inexcusable. But this cover really ties a bow around a lot of stuff for me. Some years ago my life as an electronics tech and amateur musician overlapped for a while with the world of professional recording, while working for Canadian 3D audio company QSound Labs. I got to travel the world and meet some of my heroes on both sides of the control room glass, folks like Hugh Padgham, Bob Clearmountain, Sting, Robbie Robertson. I don't want to overplay this. I _met_ these folks and worked with or for them on some projects. I'm not saying we were best buds or anything, but I can say that without exception they were lovely human beings who treated us very well indeed. But fast forward to the present: Right now I'm on contract teaching a class of future electricians all about electrons and wires at Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. My innocent little morning voyage of discovery has taken an emotional turn here folks. It's all in this song, in your project. What a fabulous job y'all did on every aspect. Respect! Sincere thanks for all the heart and good intentions you've invested here. Peace and love - to a better world.

Tom, wonderful cover of this iconic single! Having grown up in Toronto and being a lifelong and die-hard fan of both Max Webster and Rush, we were all blown away when Universal Juveniles was released and we first heard Battlescar. I still listen to and love this album to this day. I have to call you out on one little detail though. As much as your cover is truly a work of art, you haven't stayed true to the original lyrics. I know it's just one word but you changed "Uncle Sam's time is only a greased wheel", to " Uncle Sam's plan is only a greased wheel". I would really appreciate it if you could explain. Cheers!

Awesome. I always thought it was bust the buskers. But it's Max so lyrics are always hard to follow because they are more metaphorical than many bands or at least Pye was.
