Female interviewer: "What would you do as a woman?" Tom: "I'd go pole dancing" Male interviewer: "You'd make a good living." It's official, every man who meets him goes gay for Tom. You know what, scratch that, I'm pretty certain anyone in his presence goes exclusively Tom-sexual for a little while.
He splendid as Loki! I loved him. He really brought the character's emotional conflicts come to the surface without it being "cheesy". I teared up a couple times. I really felt for Loki.
"If you became a woman, what would you do first?" "I'd probably go pole dancing." LOL also love the Jack Nicholson impression, Tom talking about getting implants/not having the right "parts", and when he gestured downwards just cracked me up. Aside from that he really has done his research! Can't wait to see him as Loki ;D
I love how much he knows about the mythology behind the comic stories. I find it so much more interesting, plus it has more developed back stories for the characters.
I love his reaction at 2:58 when the interviewer says "you've done your research, though, obviously". He doesn't even register that as a compliment because he's Tom freaking Hiddleston, Mr. No Short-Ass Answers and No Half-Assed Preparations for My Roles.
This interview was so thoughtful and intelligent...except for that one bit in the middle when Tom says the first thing he would do as a woman is go pole dancing! He says it so seriously! I totally lost it! XD
Tom is so adorable, I think he did a great job with Loki and in a way I kinda felt sorry for the character even though he was kinda of "trippin" he was so full of angst and doing all the wrong things for the right reasons. Other then that I'll be paying attention to Tom more often now. :)
Tom Hiddleston gets off the airplane at the U.S.A airport, looks around, say's in his mind Welcome to my World, I'm Loki the character in Thor, I will be known before I go back to London. lol he was right now Tom Hiddleston (a.k.a) Loki Laufeyson legend supervillain. :)
@sweetpeariot I believe the pole dancing reference is aimed towards his (slightly crazy) fandom, who have taken the spear swinging part in Thor, and the fact that Loki was a woman in the comic, and created a slew of pole dancing Loki pics and stories, a lot on tumblr. He's mentioned it before in interviews when some of the pictures were sent to him, and been perfectly lovely about it all. I don't think he was being demeaning to women, or anyone, he was just teasing his Loki fans. :)
@sweetpeariot I hope you're right and he doesn't really think of women in that POV. I think it's because the interviewer asked it in such a joking way, he responded with equal lightheartedness. He responded with breasts possibly because that's one huge physical difference between women and men.
I thought this interview was taken before Thor was released in cinemas? O.o Anyway, I don't think him saying such thing is dehumanizing women. If I was a man and thought of being a woman I'd say the same because it's a very obvious difference and should be taken care of first to look like a woman. And he chose pole dancing because he loves dancing and he wants to try it. People need to chill out.. he's the most polite being on earth! You guys really think he's thinking badly of women?!
@sweetpeariot And see I viewed the boobs comment as something positive, at least in regards to trans* women. He viewed the question as being asked what he would do, in his current body, if he were a woman. If breasts were what it would take to make him feel comfortable as a woman, what's wrong with that? Off topic: The Heathen in me is so pleased that he did his research into Norse mythos for this role! :D
@sweetpeariot Personally, I am hoping that the poledancing comment might be a reference to the whole spear swishing scene he does in the fight scene with Thor, which did look an awful lot like poledancing...
GO TO DEVAINART! NOW! THERE IS A DRAWING OF LOKI POLE DANCING! ITS FUCKING HAWT IM LOOKIN AT IT RIGHT NOW I JUST WANTED TO WATCH THE POLE DANCE SCENE!SO BADLY!T-T
Don't even. I can't think of anything worse than Loki coming back only to be played by some actress instead of Tom Hiddleston. But I suppose they could have Sif show up in the next Avengers movie only to shed the illusion at some point and reveal that she/he was actually Loki all along.
