What it is too, Tom is Tom when he sings. He is not bringing Otis, but his on version and grit to this song. I feel the passion in him. He brings just as much Soul. Otis sang Satisfaction but so did Mick Jagger. Both were entertaining.

Tom is 80 years old and still singing...he had a show in 1970.. try some of his duets...he loves to sing with others...Janis Joplin...Tina Turner...little Richard and you will like his duet with Wilson picket...

You can't compare legends like them, just enjoy. What you can do is say that, very, very, few people sit at that level. And that they sit at each others level.

I had never seen Sir Tom do this number. Otis... well my childhood hero, big bro came home with the newspaper when Otis was sadly taken at 26 years old. Tom in those days, (I was only 5 when Otis passed) was not on my greats list; probably because my big bro played Otis at home. Otis to me is a legend and always will be; as I have got older, our Tom is up there with my legends. Just sad we will not be seeing him in July as hubby and I had hoped to do.

The note he hit at the end was damn impressive, it almost ended in whistle note i think. Which impressive for a guy but almost impossible for a baritone. Never knew Tom sang this version of the song.

It is impossible to compare the two legends they come at the song from the opposite end of the spectrum Otis is mellow and Tom is wild and loud. They both do what they do very well.

I so deeply regret that Otis died so early. The man was music to me, he died when I was 15. he was probably the best soul man ever! He had a mellow but wonderful sound. He was the leader of the huge soul scene in the UK. It may be fabciful but I'm fairly sure I cried when I heard the news. I would have loved to have heard these two together. Tom Jones has sung with them all and still does. He is 80 and still has excellent remnants of "the voice"!

And, yeah! Ur right! Otis had way more Soul! Don’t get me wrong, I like n grew up with Tom, but as great as his voice is, it is more a Show Voice which utilizes what I call vocal gymnastics. I’d put Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Beyoncé in that category. Hit the notes, great range n vocal loop the loops...but Soul?! NO WAY!!
