The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I once saw him on stage, at Teddington studio . I was audience in a tv show and he was compare. He sang a duet with some z list American woman, she made the mistake of trying to out sing him. This is bad manners in the music biz, but Tom just turned up the wick a little at a time. When she ran out of range Tom was just hitting his peak. It was like watching a race car over taking a bicycle. He still is Jones the Voice, the only voice.

When I was younger, I thought he was cheezy. Watching him now, I realize what a phenomenal voice and stage presence he had (has). To be on arguably the biggest television program, on stage all by yourself, takes guts and talent. Hats off to you, Sir Tom.

And the actor who played,Alfonso Ribeiro, ended up competing on dancing with the stars and performed the dance to this song on there as well, for nostalgia’s sake. I believe this was the very first time that I saw the "incredible" Tom Jones. Heard It's Not Unusual on the radio as a kid, but I never thought that he was white (no offense), let alone Welsh, until he appeared on Ed Sullivan in 1965. Nevertheless, I became hooked on him due to his high octave voice, especially when he would hit the high notes, like an opera singer breaking glass. Magnificent range. Still love listening to him sing. Hard to believe he turns 81 this year. May God bless Sir Tom Jones. STILL, my idol.

I am reading Tom Jones’ autobiography right now. What a story. He had to grind for 25 years before he finally hit paydirt. My Dad always had a Tom Jones 8 track tape playing in our sports room or in his car. On trips to Boston from our home on Cape Cod I had all of Toms songs burned into my brain. Long live Tom Jones!!!

Omg bringing the sausage factory straight from Wales! This man was and still is pure sexuality. I read his book and most male performers were actually intimidated by him, his voice and his presence is so powerful. Even tuberculosis ran from the great Alpha Male. I love Tom Jones, even as a little girl I could watch him and admire his swag, his style and moves so well coordinated not a kick out of place, the snapping of the fingers and occasional clap to mark the tempo of his song. Back then I was too innocent to see him as a sexual being but I caught a photo of him in mid 70’s: tight pants, bolero blazer, open shirt showing a crucifix nestled in that soft shinny chest hair and I understand what a man is. I’m 63 now and if I ran into him I’d make a move if only to sniff his neck or touch his gray curls on his head or… anywhere else. God bless that voice and that perfect specimen of a man. Not another one comes close!

I saw him in the park while I was walking dogs in London England just outside my house in primrose hill as I did a long time ago and I began to sing this song out loud. He raised his head like an antenna thinking he was spotted but on hearing me sing a few words he actually smiled. That made my day and you can see his raw talent right here. Funny thing is I cannot sing as such but I had the passion after hearing his songs.. he heard that I feel I saw him Sample the sound then smiled.

If you made it to the Ed Sullivan Show you were 9n your way UP! That show had a huge 8nfluence on culture back in it's day. It helped the careers of thousands of acts. The Welshman Tom Jones!

He’s still singing incredibly well in 2022, 57 years later. He was SO handsome here. (I think getting his nose job was a mistake, but it’s just my opinion).

...too hot to handle...tom in his element...his song became a hit in 1965...at 25 yo, it took him from economic poverty to stardom...i loved the singer & the song then...at 80 yo, i love him & the song even MORE❤❤❤ never another, you're unequalled to this day ❤❤❤
