That touched me very much! 😢 God bless him. At this day in age...i wish more men were of this caliber. Everyone stay well and stay safe, God bless you all!
Thank you Jerry for another uplifting story of courage & mercy! Your charming accent reminds me of the late Southern historian Shelby Foote. I could listen to you both all day!
I can't thank you enough for making this video. I'd never heard of Tom Lee or his selfless acts of bravery! What a hero he was, and I'm glad he was also honored in life, and in his retirement.
I agree, real life stories makes the movie to me, more enjoyable. I can only imagine the way Hollywood would twist it, never mind.. Better for something like HBO.
THAT was heart touching! Thank you Mr. Jerry... these little nuggets of history are SUCH A TREAT... Without you.. I NEVER would've had the honor of knowing his story! Keep teaching us... Love YOU! 💋💋
There is true greatness among our humanity. It is sad that at times it takes a tragic event to expose the great ones for us to recognize them. Tom Lee is one of the great ones. "All others before self." Thank you Mr. Skinner.
Wow, Jerry! You have excelled once again. A powerful story, extremely well told. I am glad that he was honoured during his lifetime, with a home and a better job. What a shame that he didn’t get to enjoy a longer retirement.
What a very brave man. Going out and saving people when he himself couldn't swim. A lovely human who cared for his fellow man. Beautiful person. Bless him. Thank you Jerry. I had not heard of this tragedy.
Another wonderful documentary by Jerry Skinner. God bless Tom Lee, and you sir for for this incredible documentary. I watch these stories over and over, with awe. Thank you Jerry, I wish there was a way to compensate you for all the investigation and time you must put into a documentary like this. Thank you again, and please keep em coming, Augie and Jill Blase🤠
@@JerrySkinner1943 💕 💕 💕 You are very appreciated and loved, I know when I watch your videos there are no nasty surprises. I have respect for your work.
Another great video. What a hero Mr.Tom Lee was, very deserving of the monument & the home they were given. I think I've watched every video of yours,Mr. Jerry Skinner, I think one of my favorites is the one of Dan Blocker. (Hoss Cartwright) I've watched it more than once. Thank you for the wonderful videos & your great narration.
As often happens after watching one of you vids, I am left verklempt. It was nice to be introduced to this brave American hero. Also, so good to know that the people of Memphis took care of this gentleman and his family. Thank you for posting Jerry, America needs to know about our heroes.
I'm glad to hear that he was rewarded for his heroism!! And not just thanked and forgotten! Fir the city to double his retirement pension that was very nice! It probably wasnt much in the 1st place back then, but at least he and his wife didnt have to pay a mortgage on their home!
Great story Jerry . I love your voice and the way you tell the stories. White , Black , Yellow or Green. You find inspirational stories for everyone. Keep up the great work please!!!!!!!
We can't say it enough...Thank you, Mr. Skinner. We appreciate your hard work, diligence and sharing with us the information you find, but not just sharing, sharing in your unique, interesting way. We appreciate you! Thank you, again.
Jerry, I absolutely love your content. Thank you for sharing and preserving history and not letting Tom Lee's deeds be forgotten. I've spent many hours at that park and never knew the man's story. Nearby Martyrs Park, I know it's history, but now I know both. Thank you.
What a great story, Thank you Mr Jerry. Memphis is my home town and yet I had never heard of this amazing man. Isn't that strange? :) Bless his soul....for the many others he saved, even though Tom couldn't swim. You know as a child, my dad moved us around a lot in his construction work. We were based out of Memphis, but different jobs he was on, found us living in Walls,MS. ,Horn Lake , Tunica ,Clarksdale, Greenville , Greenwood, Jackson and many places in Arkansas. I guess thats why I always claimed Mississippi as home. :) I joined the US Army in Boloxi MS in 1974 and have never returned, but I sure do MISS Mississippi. :) You have another great work here my friend , Thank you - Herb (Texas)
Thank you Jerry for educating me for giving me time not wasted but time of learning. I look forward always to your videos. Again thank you (I wish I could think of some how to tell you how much you brighten up my days 😎)
Jerry...This was an excellent bio ! I never heard of this gentleman but, I'm certainly glad you brought him to my attention. Thank you so much for sharing....I really enjoy your biography videos... :)
I to, never heard this story before. Tom Lee is a true hero. I was born in Greenville Mississippi and lived my first half of my life there the second half in Greenwood MS. In the 1980's I worked as a temp employee for the Corps of Engineers Mat Sinking Unit, out of Vicksburg Mississippi. Went out with subcontractors for different times over the years in support of the Mat Sinking Unit. Love your work Mr. Jerry Skinner. I will blog this video. People need to know this story about Tom Lee.
I couldn't help but think of the Air Florida Flight 90 tragedy, while viewing this portrayal of Tom Lee's heroism; so very well told, many thanks, Mr. Skinner!
U might want to watch that documentary again, if that’s what u heard when watching this great heroes story!,,,,,,,,, TRY LISTENING TO THE PART WHERE HE WAS CELEBRATED AS HERO AND IT SHOCKED HIM AT FIRST. THEN he was Given GREAT JOB AND A HOUSE AND DOUBLED HIS PENTION WHEN HE RETIRED!!!!!!! Only the idiots living today haven’t celebrated him, but his contemporary townspeople certainly celebrated him as a hero! Cheers!
