Great reaction and commentary. I love this song too. I don’t think he dropped it for Church but for the audience to answer some of the questions Church brought up. Here’s why I think he didn’t respond to Church. 1 Church started throwing shade on social media when Tom and Adam were promoting the brave 2 to get his people hyped for a diss. Then he waited until facts came out to drop the diss. At that time Tom was promoting his song and doing interviews, and Church dropped his concert dates and started selling his tickets while constantly making videos on social media about not letting up on Tom. Then Church dropped the second diss with more inflammatory posts and started going at reactor who didn’t respond well to his disses. Church then said he was done with tom and started saying stuff about Adam when he got zero acknowledgment from Tom. He also started saying stuff about Flawdzilla ( starting because flawd made a video showing that Church chopped up a video making another reactor look bad) and Flawd dropped a diss on Church. 2. Tom was busy doing interviews for most of this time and Church didn’t really say anything that hasn’t been said and addressed before 3. Tom has never said anything bad about Church ever, up till Church needed to promote his album and ticket sales they’d always been supportive of each other 4 Tom has said in the past that Church was the first you tube guy to reach out and show him any kind of support so he’d never say anything bad about him 5 church has some stuff going on and Flawd diss “ intervention “ spells it out pretty well.

I don't think he meant that people would try to gatekeep their privilege. I think he means that if whites are told to believe they have privilege they will resent it and won't bother to help fight the system together, and that's true.
I thought of the white privilege as meaning if you keep saying I have privilege then how are we able to fight together? The whites feel they have no voice and on the outside looking in. Reality is you have to pay attention and be involved with politics. Example. Friend few years back said he didn't care about politics and wouldn't until they reached his door step (he was very anti trans). Warned him it would be too late. 2 years ago his son's school adopted a policy of trans confirmation and hiding it from parents. Now he's all upset.

The main issue I have with this track is all the misleading lines. Let me explain: While it is true that America has little choice between parties as both are right leaning (capitalist), there is still a choice. One (Republicans) are for more capitalism, handing more and more power to those who have money to do as they wish. The other (democrats) want to regulate the excesses of capitalism and promote social justice and equality. Neither side are challenging the premise of the “Money Game” but one fully embraces the money game and wants to deregulate to allow corporations more freedom to exploit us. I’ll come back to this later if I remember when you get to how you decide who to vote for. Everything has always been political. The world is political. Always has been, going back to pre-history. You (and Tom) may have grown up not thinking about it, not caring, but that’s reflecting how you’ve grown up to only realise and recognise the world is political as you’ve gotten older. It was always there, always has been. What I’m afraid you are complaining about is having to grow up and face it and you are longing for the simpler ignorant times of your childhood. One of Toms ridiculous lines “how is this a democracy when we got communists in charge” 😂 A) both parties in America are right wing, pro-capitalism. Not even close to socialism let alone communism. B) communism is a particular form of political organisation which is completely different to America. C) you could have democracy within communism anyhow - or it could be a dictatorship. His equating communism with dictatorship is naive. The real threat to democracy was demonstrated on Jan 6th and with a presidential candidate for 2024 who has boasted that he intends to be a dictator. The opposite of democracy is not communism, it is dictatorship. Now it happens that because revolutions tend to lead to a dictator, and communism has only happened following revolutions, they’ve been dictatorship - but you can also have a democracy collapse into an anti-communist dictatorship as we saw in 1930s Germany (Hitler stood as an anti-communist despite the party having “socialist” in its name). The danger to democracy is clear and 2024 may be the end of it in America if a certain candidate who has already tried to undermine it with a violent insurrection and has declared they will be a dictator, manages to fool enough “patriots” to vote for him.
Tom then talks of Nazi’s in charge - the Nazi party was fascist which is defined as being an extreme nationalist party, who stood on “make Germany great again” (paraphrasing) and everyone should be patriotic etc. Does that sound like one party in America or one candidate in particular? It’s very clear for those who know their history who Trump has modelled himself after, and THAT is the danger. Trump has the “proud boys” as a private militia, Hitler had the Brown Shirts. Trump stands against “them” coming to America, Hitler stood against “them” being in Germany (the specific “them” is different but the playbook is the same). The parallels are many and scary.
“You ain’t on a plantation but you definitely still a slave” - to the money game, to CAPITALISM. And again, one party stands for more capitalism, the other tries to regulate it. Do you vote for the slave owners to make things worse for you (republicans) by getting rid of the rules preventing them working you harder, or do you vote for the slave owners who realise they can’t push things too far and who propose rules that prevent slave owners doing too much exploiting (democrats)?
Going back to politics saturating everything - your point about Bud Light at least you recognise that it wasn’t Bud that made that political, it was the right wing who decided to make that into a political issue. Simply including someone of a non-binary gender should not have been “political”, it’s simply being inclusive, not discriminating. Deciding to throw a hissy fit and refuse to drink a beer because you don’t like trans people being visible in the world? THATS what made that whole thing political, as in “party political”. Is being inclusive and non-discriminatory political? Yeah, but does anyone say being inclusive is wrong? I guess the blatant racists and homophobes but they are a minority. Is turning having a trans person being visible into a major political stunt political by cancel culturing Bud? Yeah - and I agree, most Americans are sick of it. So interesting that you briefly recognise you are part of the problem there.
Politics on kids programs - politics has ALWAYS been in kids programs. There’s politics in nursery rhymes, in fairy tales, in traditional toys etc. What I think you are objecting to is making kids programs less divisive - like including different ethnicities, or non-binary genders etc. Is it a political choice to stop pretending to kids that gay people don’t exist? Sure - but it was also a political choice to lie to them by omission before. Now, you might have agreed with the previous political choice to keep kids ignorant about the real world, so you don’t like it to change, but it’s not introducing politics to be inclusive. Again, this just seems to be a symptom of you waking up to realise the world IS political and even deciding what stories to tell kids has always been political.
“Why can’t we just live our lives as Americans and not divide ourselves into these camps” - which coming right after your self realisation that your choice to cancel Bud light was doing exactly that, is interesting.
