The confident "and I'm Norm Abram" at the end signals Norm as being the truest 43-year heart and soul of this wonderful show! Incredible to see Steve, Norm, and Tommy all together in one smashing TOH episode. These guys together were and are the GOAT! And my gosh, ole Norm is getting ready to finally retire from TOH here in 2022, Tom is still kicking around on ATOH, and Steve has long since lived in Port Clyde, Maine and actively runs Steve Thomas Builders! Thanks for all the great memories together guys! You're the best!

Okay yes the two century old headers were lighter and less supported. But after all this time, was there any sag? Are they out of level? I don’t see it. Tommy might a little quick to say the old timers didn’t know why or what they were doing.

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about because Norm Abram is original to the show. Norm and Bob Vila were there from the very beginning. While there is nothing wrong with Steve or Kevin, there would be no TOH if it wasn't for Bob Vila. At this point Tom was still just a contractor and wasn't actually part of the show.

Hey watch it! I liked Bob villa and norm way back in the 80s. They were more in depth. Longer shots w Norm working. Not just cameo appearances. Norm up on ladders with snow on the ground, in basements. All over. And Bob also told what a project would cost. They changed all that. Bob was just a spokesman, and he knew it, but tried to fake it.

@stevejensen3471
@stevejensen3471 Год назад
While I think Steve Thomas was the best of the three, Bob not only had a great style but also had to develop the hosts role in an new and untried venue. In addition, he did it for $200/episode in the beginning and stayed with TOH for 10 years, so you gotta give him credit for that alone. Then to add insult to injury, aside from PBS's whopping salary of $800/episode at the end of his tenure, the TOH underwriter Home Depot (HD) put the screws to TOH to force Bob to quit representing what HD considered their competitor - Rickel Home Center on the side. At that point, Bob told them to take a hike, started his own show, and began representing Craftsman tools. His net worth today is 70M, a far cry from what he could have ever earned at PBS.

@@scottslotterbeck3796 I understand what you are saying. If money wasn't an issue, you spent 2 or 3 times what the house and property is worth to fix it, seems foolish to me. Only way that makes sense if the house and property hold some significance to the community. Otherwise taking a 1880's house like my 1883 house to its bare frame and build it back up would be absolute waste of time and money. I do still think there is houses that are too far gone, and to fix them you would be building a new house from a 1880's wood frame.

Agree that Steve was the GOAT of TOH hosts! Funny thing is that Bob Vila actually ran his own renovation company RJ Vila Renovations and had won notable awards on several homes. When PBS approached him to be the front man for TOH, he agreed despite them paying him only $200/episode, something they eventually increased to a whopping $800/episode. Bob did it anyway as he considered it good advertising for his other company and future ventures. After he began representing Rickel Home on the side, TOH gave him an ultimatum as his other gig conflicted with TOH's main underwriter, Home Depot. So after 10 years on TOH, Bob parted ways, began representing Sears as the spokesperson for Craftsman tools, and then hosted his own home improvement show Bob Vila Home Again for 16 seasons on HGTV. I was stunned to find out that his current net worth is 70M!
