Brandon Staley has proved he is not a good football head coach. Plus, as a defensive coach, the secondary completely abandoned him verses the Broncos, but that didn’t get him fired. Then comes the Thursday night game against the Raiders. The whole team said FU Staley! Be gone!

As a Chargers fan the expectations are not as high as what Tom is saying. Listen what Jim did in SF was different because that team had so much talent. The Chargers roster has too many holes right now. The offense will be dominant. They will probably move Pipkins from RT to RG and have Alt at RT, they signed Bozeman and you have Zion at LG and Slater at LT so you feel really good about that line and the run game. Special teams looks very good right now as well. But that defense, specifically at DT and at CB is very thin. So you will see them do 10 minute drives and hold possession but then get beat defensively over and over. A 8-9 season would be the expectation. If we get into the playoffs with our defense as it is, then the hype train can start but realistically we know it's going to take a couple years to build this roster back up.

Latham's size and strength are great. But Alt has something Latham doesn't. I believe the Chargers went with Alt over Latham because Alt could pull to block on the right. Watching Latham's highlights you can see the Guard pull and Latham just turn his block outside. Since the Charger's will prolly run both inside and out, Alt's ability to cover more ground to block is best for Roman's offense and that's why Alt is the better pick. And for the question on whether Alt can play RT, well he'll be moving forward off the snap more then he will backwards so I don't think transitioning will be a problem on this team.

Being that the Chargers needed a RB....I would of bet the farm that Harbaugh took Blake Corum in 2nd or 3rd round. My wife is a Chargers fan and I told her the Chargers will draft Blake Corum.

Even though the Chargers didn't draft Marvin Harrison JR. or Malik Nabors they chose to draft an Offensive Tackle in Alt that will be able to protect the face of the franchise QB Justin Herbert!! This will enable Herbert to stay upright.. be able to hand off the football to whomever the Runnin back is or let Herbert to pass the ball to his receivers!! :)

Does this guy not understand that the Chargers barely had any money to sign free agents? There is excitement amongst fans for the Chargers but there aren’t any high expectations, IMO. This is a year with a lot of expiring contracts, rookies, and vets trying to redeem themselves in the hope that competition will bring out the best in all of them.

I really hate the talk about Jim H, only from the perspective that he’s turned trash into gold. He hasn’t, anywhere. He is a good coach and a fun dude in general, but he’s ridden opportunity better than anyone else and little more. The 49ers were damn solid but had a string of missed opportunities that honestly were not on Singletary, but he gets fired, they grab Jimmy to sit in on a built roster at the edge of popping and got to enjoy success others built up to. He has a name and recognition, when things got hard he pulled a Payton and bailed and went to college where his name tied to a big school means the floor for his success is as high as possible, he succeeds and even through a cheating scandal directly on him, he gets credited like he did it all. Fine. Now he’s back in the nfl and get a shot handed to him with a rockstar QB, a top 5 pick and massive market. I submit that if you had Jim be the head coach of the panthers they would not have a quick turn, same as if he became the coach of a team like the pats. He needs a damn near perfect opportunity to prop him up significantly.

McConkey has a lot of similarities to K Allen. He knows how to get open. Now the Chargers have 6 receivers and someone is not going to make the roster. My bet is Q Johnson goes to the practice squad. He doesn't play special teams and has board hands. If another team wants him off the practice squad they can pay his pick one salary.

The 49ers were 6-10 when Jim became their head coach. They had not had a winning season in 9 years. As a rookie head coach, Harbaugh won the 2011 NFL Coach of the Year award because he turned around that franchise. The 49ers went 13-3 in his first season. They lost the NFC Championship in overtime due to bad calls by the refs. San Francisco then went 11-4-1 and won a second-straight NFC West title, despite a midseason quarterback change from starter Alex Smith to backup Colin Kaepernick. They came seconds away from winning the Super Bowl, once again because of the refs and their bad no call. The 49ers then went 12-4 in 2013 and reached a third straight NFC title game. They lost that game, once again due to bad calls by the refs. Calls that were so bad they earned their own video right here on RU-vid. History has shown that when Jim Harbaugh takes over a team it immediately gets better. He did it in college with San Diego, Stanford and Michigan. With the 49ers he became the first coach in NFL history to reach a conference championship game in his first three seasons as head coach. He has the 6th highest winning percentage in NFL history, compared to say Andy Reid, who has the 21st highest. Jim has beaten Andy Reid and Bill Belichick every time they played. So is it impossible for the Chargers to become a playoff team this year? One thing against it, Jim no longer has Vic Fangio as his NFL defensive coach. That might hinder Jim from getting his defense up to speed in his first season with the Chargers.

The Chargers have had 23 seasons of Quarterback play from Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert and have made it to the AFC championship game once, and lost. The Chargers have 4 seasons of 12+ wins since 2000. The combined playoff record for those 4 seasons is 1-4, with 3 of them being one and done home losses scenarios. More recently the Chargers held a 27-0 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars in last year's playoffs. They lost 30-31. They lost 63-21 to a Raiders team that had lost a 3-0 game the previous week.

I wish the media, especially this show, would stop hyping the Chargers. They literally have since Justin Herbert hit the NFL and not as a starter. He is literally the most overrated QB to ever exist. He's never won anything, made it to playoffs once, and lost in the 1st round. He has an overall record of 30 -32. All his stats are padded because they kill lesser teams and he throws TDs mostly when they're down by 20. Please stop hyping all 12 Chargers fans out here in reality.
