Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Monday Sept 25 40th Anniversary tour. Last performance at Hollywood Bowl of "Wildflowers" from the front row, the whole song. A treasured moment, thank you Tom.
It’s crazy to see how deep Tom’s dedication to perform for his fans was. He performed this concert with a fractured hip and looking at him you could tell he was in pain but that didn’t stop him from performing a flawless live version of “wildflowers” Rest In Peace Tom
I'm so happy I got a chance to see Tom Petty in Ottawa at the Bluesfest. That was the best concert with fans singing the songs we all loved with him. I will never forget Tom Petty and will miss his music, songs forever. It was really a Heart Breaker to know he was in so much pain and never took care of himself. But a dedicated musician for his fans and bandmates. R.I.P. Tom 💔
@@gerRule he wasn't missed, of course. He knew his fans loved him. He was asked how he kept things going for 40 years. He said, it's the fans. They keep coming back!
Tom Petty died of an accidental drug overdose of several medications. Despite a painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans, and toured 53 dates with a fractured hip. It worsened to a more serious injury. On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication,” According to his wife and daughter, the manner of death was an “accident,” Many begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications.” Perhaps he was misinformed the severity of these meds. No one will ever know. No doubt he knew Jesus and is thriving in heaven. ✝️
I was at this concert. The energy was incredible. Tom was so humbled by the love shown by fans. It was a great night that I cherish. It's hard to believe he's really gone...
Tom was the soundtrack for many of our lives. I, too, feel a deep connection to him and his music. I can't help but still cry when i play his tunes. He was a humble, sweet guy from Florida who loved his fans and whose songs and storytelling we all could relate to. You are missed so much Mr. Petty and im so grateful 🙏 for all the music you left behind. 😢😢 I hope i find you in a field of wildflowers 💐 someday. You are loved ❤
When I was 17 Tom came into the Studio City movie theater on Ventura and Laurel Canyon where we played the original Superman movie for over 12 months straight. I served him at the concession counter. After I gave him his change (everyone used old fashioned money back then) I asked him if he was Tom Petty. He paused, twirled the jumbo Nestlé Crunch bar I gave him in his fingers like a drum stick and grinned slyly. Before he could answer I told him I just bought Damn The Torpedos. He said thanks a lot and went back inside. Love his music even more than way back in 1979.
That's the time I King Crab fished the Bearing seas for King Crab, we all wore out the tapes. And he singer of the time. really supper those times will never be repeated for us old now folks. I paid dearly in to social security don;t take from me you f liberala.
This is such a bittersweet video...We all know Tom wrote this for his mom who he absolutely adored....If there is only one good thing about Toms passing , it is that he is reunited with his mom who through his songs you can tell he missed so much...I thank Tom for all he has done for me in my lifetime and he is in my heart forever....
CJWorth1 and he never gets old to listen to. I can't stand most bands or songs for a couple songs. But I can have TP and the Heartbreakers on repeat for days on end
Me and my Son listened to Tom Petty from Seattle to Palm Springs on two separate occasions! I agree, Tom Petty has the best road driving / listening music out there!!
I guess in a way he knew if he didn't go on that 40th anniversary tour, he wouldn't ever be able to do it. He was always there, and I didn't realize it until he wasn't. At least we have his music. The last rock and roller.
We can see how much pain Tom is in here and the looks passing between the band show such concern and love for him. Thank you for all the music Tom and the Heartbrakers. We all miss you beyond words.
I agree Tom was the best and miss him very much, but those looks between the band are because Mike Mike Campbell's guitar is out of tune. Regardless he was in pain and the band was very concerned.
I feel a special connection to Tom. His music has been the soundtrack of my entire life. No matter what I've dealt with. Thank you Tom. And thank you too for sharing our birthday. You're always in my heart and my life. 💝
2 of my friends played this at my husbands funeral last year. We picked it out. I felt like it was speaking to me, from my Chris. I know he wants me to be happy and carry on. Love Tom Petty. He really gets to your soul.
What a beautiful thought. Yes, thinking of someone who had this within him. Yet, until the final 4 months of his life did he begin to believe that he deserved to feel free. until I read your comment, I had not thought this way. Thank you
Listen to the live show and listen to the recording. His shows had excellent sound and he delivered constantly. I have always heard stories of his sound checks and just how much he wanted to sound just as good if not better than what you heard on the radio. Just beautiful.
This and learning to fly are songs which sum up this sadness perfectly. Your free, free to fly, god rest, hopefully there’s a wilbury reunion happening with Roy and George.
I saw him a few months before the show when he was in Boston on this tour. It was the only time that I saw Tom Petty, and I'm so glad that I did see him a few months before he passed. I had wanted to see him live since I was a kid, and it was really special to be in an arena full of people singing Free Fallin' together. That said, the song that I think touched me the most at that show was Wildflowers. He did such a beautiful rendition with the female singers on this tour; I will never forget hearing Wildflowers live that night!
I needed to hear this song today. Of course I have the album, but I wanted to see Tom too. What a gift to have been at this concert! I tried to get tickets but they were sold out. I considered driving to the Bowl and parking my car somewhere outside to hopefully get a listen. God, how I regret that I didn’t. 😔🙏
Unfortunately it took Toms death for him to leave us heartbroken. Tom, you will always be missed, thank you for 40 years of sharing, I still get turned on when I hear-" Here Comes My Girl" Your music lives on.
The Wildflowers album was my favorite of his and touched my life so deeply..songs remind me of so many that I have loved now gone but live in my heart forever ...Thankyou for your life Tom Petty...you made a huge difference for millions of people in the best way
One of my all time favorite songs and favorite albums! Got to see Tom live once, 1993 (?). Wildflowers tour! In Atlanta, GA! Thank you Jennifer for going with me!💜💜💜
I was at the wildflowers tour in ohio and this is the song we used for the mother/son dance at my sons wedding last weekend, it’s a special song for us
Barbara McCroy he gave his fans 200% every single performance, all the way to the end. One of the very few that actually cared for his fans. Losing Tom was the end of an era, no other artist, especially the new youngins today, will ever play with the passion and love that Tom did. And he is the only one I can put on repeat for days on end and never get tired of hearing the same songs over and over from been a TP fan since I was 2 and will be for as long as I have breath in my body
I had the great privilege of seeing him live 3 times. I've been to too many concerts to count. Those 3 times seeing him and The Heartbreakers were EASILY in my top 10. Sadly missed, but thankful for such a great legacy of music he left for all of us.
I was here. Incredible. Tom Petty was a class act. Very loosely I met him and the band one time. His daughter filmed a documentary and I went to the premier. Her, him and the band were genuinely nice cool people. Just like all of us. This breaks my heart. Love you Tom Petty.
Many blessings to the Petty Family, The Heartbreakers, Mud Crutch and all the fans , we continue to feel love and gratitude for all the songs that have carried us
This was a very beautiful live version . My heart breaks . And what a beautiful backing vocals by the Webb Sisters. TP was my hero for 25yrs (and still is of course).
I miss you so, sweet man. I can't believe it's going to be a year since my show at Red Rocks. A year since I've seen your sweet face...Thank you Mr. Petty I love you so much. I pray your family continues to heal and find peace.
Kathleen Blackburn oh he is, and God and Jesus are getting some private shows. I believe they just needed Tom to play for them and make them feel better because the world has turned dark. But TP always brought light to anyone he was around.
Thank you Hank for posting this. Went to see him at the Universal Amphitheater in the late 70s. I will always regret that I never got a chance to see him again.
Your with the Wildflowers and free now Tom. I'm jealous of God and Jesus now, because u know they got them a few private shows when they brought Tom home. God has to be a TP fan. Only angels can make this music
I love you Tom - thank you for the wonderful Memories! You rocked our souls in Montreal at the Bell Center! Thank you for all you have shared with us. Your Legacy will live on forever! God Bless your Soul! Sweet Sweet Soul - Tom!!
He looks very similiar to Jerry Garcia in Chicago in 1995...miss them both terribly. You can see he is favoring that leg...We were so lucky to have them
Damn it, I want him back. The universe wasn’t ready for his departure. If only he’d received the help he needed. I’m sure people in his circle knew about his struggles. What a shame.
