He fits in perfectly with Tom and the rest of the band. Never overplays or underplays. He is actually the perfect guitar players for this band. He is definitely a very good musician. I think because he plays mostly in the background and he is not a shredder some make overlook his greatness, I don’t he is awesome. I notice him in every song he plays in. Take care
I Love seeing this example of how honest Tom's voice sounds on this Shure SM-57 microphone that I helped him select so many years before when we did some microphone comparisons from out in the woods at the old Mudcrutch farm in Gainesville, Florida. It was a good match and he knew exactly how to use the proximity effect of the microphone to his advantage.
I got to see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at The Hollywood Bowl for free while working for a bus company that shuttled people from the LA Zoo’s parking lot. The owner had a section for the bus staff to enjoy the concert.
I have to watch this video at least twice a week. I absolutely love this song and the original Heartbreakers, except that’s Howie and not Ron. You just have to be a hard core Petty fan to get it.
