His two mates were pretty damn good but he was the best musician I've ever seen. Thank you Mr Rich, but your replacement has arrived early! Absolutely gutted...
This one is indeed very hard. I’m so very sad. Neil Peart was one of my favorite drummers, along with Jon Bohnam and Pat Torpey. Can’t believe all 3 are gone 😞🥺
@@jerredwayne8401 I agree with you totally, he was phenomenal. But so is Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Mike Portnoy etc. So many great styles of music, just enjoy them all.
they have always been this way...in the 70's you had to be a bad azz band period...with GREAT MUSICIANS...THE 80'S NOT SO MUCH...CHECK OUT GRAND FUNK BACK IN THE DAY....THEY WERE SO FULL OF SOUNDS...ITS CRAZY...
+p3tr0l Absolutely pissed these guys are not performing for the Super Bowl Halftime. They are better than Coldplay IMO and unlike many artists that performed the super bowl, RUSH did it all themselves(playing instruments, writing, singing, working their asses off)!
Sean Harrison Agree. What's also a shame about that is that a new generation/fan base would get exposed to Rush, whereas Coldplay get plenty of radio play already.
But observe at 3:28, that Tom Hanks turns into the late funny man , and great drummer, mr jack klugman!- but just for a moments. No wonder Rush titled an album, Presto! Like magic!
Don’t be sad he’s gone, be happy he was here. Thank you for all of the inspiration and incredible music you have brought us. May you be reunited with your wife and daughter. RIP Neil Peart, one of the greatest drummers the world has ever known
Have you read his book "Ghost Rider"? I bought it and tried to read it but couldn't get past page six, it was too painful. But then I had just lost my brother when I started reading it.
It’s a very raw book and I doubt it was any fun to rite . I feel deep sadness that he didn’t get more time with his new wife and daughter of 11 yrs old . I was mad when I heard he passed as I felt it wasn’t fair ( who said life is fair ...? ) he already lost a nineteen year old daughter and his wife a year or more later ...
kman the devil i just say tri-pl-et as im play a triplet. I know not technically the correct way to count but it was how I was able to learn how to play the note when was younger.
You are so right. Music is ruined. Look at that crowd. That won’t ever happen again. Bands like that will be playing for free at bars on a Thursday night. It’s over.
Counterpoint: the death of the music industry has been a boon for creative and incredible bands. Internet distribution has ended the industry’s stranglehold. I think what you meant to say is you don’t like the newer bands. It’s ok. Happens with age
Watching Neil play the fill at 2:55 just PERFECTLY shows his fine tuned technique. Truly one of the best ever. No argument. Lifeson's guitar is also fucking beautiful
Agreed. Not just talent, but work ethic and an open mind. It would have been easy for him to just be arrogant and call himself the best and sit back. He actually went back during a touring break and took more lessons from another jazz drumming guru, and came out even better.
Neal peart The BEST drummer in the world !!!!!!! Now and for Always tilll the end of time !! Heartbreaking the world has lost a true musical legend !!! Sending love and hugs to his family and friends !!! May god comfort you and give you strength through this difficult time ❤🙏🙏🙏
Although the Professor has already been gone a year, the music he created with Geddy and Alex is indeed timeless. Seeing this performed live, even in video, still gives me the chills. What an absolute treat it was for us as fans to have Rush for as long as we did. ❤
My proudest moment being a Canadian ❤ I'm 34 years old, and have alway appreciated Rush. But NOW... I have a huge infatuation with them and their lyrics. My parents were lucky enough to see them play in the early 70s while starting their career in our small town in Lakefield, Ontario. It's only taken me 20 years of my dad listening to Rush and say "Mandy listen to these lyrics!" that I finally love everything that that they are. ❤
Neil Peart, my favorite Rush band member. Such a beast on the drums. Will likely never see another drummer with so much talent in my lifetime. So glad I seen these guys on their last world tour.
I only had the opportunity to see them once. I've met people that saw them in concert twenty times or more and after having seen them one single time - I can see why those people saw them twenty+ times. BTW, you have amazing taste in music for a twelve year old. Holy shit, you're on the right track.
There are a bunch of tour videos like this, I watched a lot of them when I became a fan in 2011. I did manage to see them live 3 times but wished to see more. Be glad you did find their music, it will change your life for the better.😊
Watching this today, January 17, 2021, I was moved to tears during the solos, all the air drummers in the audience, knowing it will never happen again. :(
In 1978 I had the privilege of being able to closely watch Neil play from a side seat just a little above the stage. After all these years, I can still picture the gigantic percussion kit he had for that tour. RIP Neil Pert.
Rush in Rio had the greatest audience out of all of their tours. Those folks sang every word and even sang along to YYZ, which doesn't have any words in it. I had the privilege of seeing them on their R40 tour in 2015 and though most of the people were in their 50s and 60, there were still a lot of people having a good time. You'll never meet a finer bunch of people in your life than those at a Rush concert.
Thank you NEIL PEART (1952-2020) for doing your part to help tame mankind with your gift and talent. Your music was the soundtrack to a lot of our young lives.
When saw Rush in Cincinnati. They blew us away. That just these three unbelievably talented men created an orchestra worth of sound. Excellent musicians at the top of their game. I thanked my late husband very well for giving me this amazing experience❣️
Especially because Neil almost never smiled in performance. I got the feeling he was telling Alex, "baby, I am in the MOTHER of all pockets here." It was well known that Tom Sawyer tested Neil to his outer limits. Bravo.
Saw Rush in 2010 one best rock shows I ever been into in my life, three best musicans in rock,Neil Peart agressive style of drumming was impressive to watch, the world lost one best rock drummer ever, RIP gone but lives forever in our hearts 😢🥁🎸🍺🤘🤘🤘
So long Neil, may your soul rest in peace and be reunited with your wife and daughter. You inspired countless drummers over the decades including me. When I was in high school, It took me a year to master "Tom Sawyer" stroke by stroke - YYZ took a little longer. Thanks for all the great rifs and fills. You were truly one of the greats of all time. Adios amigo!
How is this not one of the greatest musical masterpieces in the history of music? It catches you EVERY TIME!! Love this band and love the Professor. 🤘🏼❤️🥳🙌🏼🙏🏼🔥
For me these guys are incredibly awesome im 34 and i feel like i missed my time. They told a story of love and understanding with a bit of compassion and confusion for the status quo of their days yet it still applies today. True classic rock from the day it was conceived. Thank you RUSH!
Did anyone else notice that at around 2:02 the big screen is showing the band playing the wrong instruments? You can see it pretty well at 2:22 as well. Neil on guitar (lol at that solo), Geddy looking natural on drums and Alex acting like he's struggling with those bass strings. These guys seem to always have a great sense of humor.
Or that Peart even has 'Time' symbolism on his sneakers. I see the tuners on Geddy's bass and wonder how they didn't get the symbol treatment, just being there, all big and shiny on the camera.
I didn’t expect this video to bring me to tears, yet here I am, in tears. Mr. Peart was truly a gift from the gods. And the gods have taken back their gift. We don’t deserve him in 2020 anyhow.
