Alex always strikes me as the typical Dad. That is if the typical dad is a phenomenal guitar playing genius. Just his expression and demeanor. You just expect him to sit down and start telling dad jokes.
Geddy Lee gets a world of credit here....performing after the South Park clip without laughing your head off is commendable to say the least. RIP Neil. You made things better for many.
I was privileged and lucky enough to see RUSH 34 times starting in 81 on their Moving Pictures tour. One of my biggest regrets that I’ll take to my grave was missing their last tour thinking that I’d get another chance. I have to say this recording really shows them at their best. Having fun and killing it. Rest In Peace Professor…🙏
I've always been amazed at how easy Neil Peart made playing the drums look. I know he was totally kicking ass, but he typically had the appearance that he was bored. He was doing something so second nature; powerful, accurate and intricate. Most folks would suffer quadruple limb failure trying to play like him and sound like a bozo. He was the best.
One of my favorite sayings is "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts." It's almost always true of great rock and roll bands, and Rush is clearly one of them
