Going #2, sweating, being intimate, sweating, etc... Anything you do that causes sweating also causes odor, and just letting soapy water run through isn't enough to eradicate that odor. There also needs to be some level of wiping with a rag to actually wash off the odor causing bacteria that comes from doing #2, being intimate your partner,, and strenuous activities that cause sweaing and the odors that come with those activities. If you're sticky, just running water on the sticky area will not remove whatever is causing the stckiness, you actually have to wipe it off.

It's 100 percent for that reason, just general cleanliness... however, you can just lather the soap in hand, apply it, and then wash your hand clean before touching the soap again... which then makes me wonder, are people really just touching the bar to their skin like some sort of beast?

Any type of porous material, fabric or even brush that you would use to clean yourself and then just leave in the bathroom is a venerable germinal habitat.

That's why you go in the shower with a FRESH cloth, and deposit it into the dirty laundry after showering so it can be WASHED again. Is not rocket science.

Compared to washcloths or loofahs, using your hands is the cleanest way to wash. Washcloths and loofahs carry many germs. Washcloths you can a least throw in the washing machine, but they'll still have germs on the days not washed. Bare hands is the cleanest method. Plus, we can feel with our fingers, so we know where we haven't cleaned yet.

Safe to assume most people use soap and their hand. If the bar of soap is dirty, you put it under water for 1.7 seconds and it’s clean.
