What a sad and heartfelt song...seems like he was playing this in the back corner of a coffee shop, just playing to himself. And a few of us were lucky enough to have stopped in and heard it.

I heard this in Bunheads, and it moved me to tears. In fact, listening to it right now, sobbing. It's a beautiful song.

it's a very emotion evoking song....Worst is when you watch the movie, 'A Drift' starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Caflin....it's the soundtrack of the movie.....very emotional

Such a bittersweet song. My grandma just passed away and this made me ugly cry. I may ask if I can sing this at her funeral.

For those of you just discovering Tom Waits. Yes, he is great. And yes, this is a wonderful song. But please don't stop here. He has many great songs waiting for you to discover.

My favourite Tom Waits song, and there are many to choose from. The Mule Variations album has to go down as one of the greatest albums ever made. Every track is a work of art, but this one brings me to tears every time, it's a perfect piece ❤️

Been a fan of Waits since I stumbled upon Bottom of the World by accident, and been fumbling through his whole discography for two years. He is hands down my favourite musician of all time and this may be one of my favourites of his. So painfully simple yet expresses feelings far beyond any overwritten lyric.

Now this is a song that you want to listen to while taking a lonely walk home after a long day, you listen and walk and you look at the people around you, everyone's got their stories, some can be told, many can't and you just wonder, how would my own one finally end?

Just heard this today for the first time. What a poignant beautiful piece of music. Was lucky to see him at The Bridge School Concert , believe 2007? Did not know much about the Man. But, that night, I was blown away... Thank you Tom Waits.

Tom Waits' music usually hits me pretty hard on some type of emotional level, but this one has a deeper emotional level than the others. The lyrics, for "Picture In A Frame", appear to be more simplistic, and comparatively short, both in duration, and content, unlike his usual lyrical offerings, which typically appear to possess a higher degree of complexity, containing subtle nuances, double-entendres, symbolic allusions, and other forms of lingual play which he often delves deeply into within his unique poetic prose, often assuming the form of lyrical love letters. Yet it is within the simplicity and brevity of these lyrics, coupled with my own heart-wrenching, personal experiences that this song wields its powers of manipulation over my emotions, making it hit much harder than most of his tear-jerking maladies. I am blessed with the fortune of having found his musical creations, while having the necessary knowledge, and semantical awareness to appreciate his lyrics, with my general love of music acting as the adhesive in such compositions. I may be truly blessed for such, some might say, trivial diversions, but Tom Waits is a gifted gift gifted to us. Most people shall never understand.

There is a compilation record of different artists performing different Disney movie songs. Tom does "Hi Ho" from Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. It is truly unique.
