One of the greatest events of my life, in Phoenix,AZ having a shitty day at work, upset that I didn't blow my budget on a $200.00 ticket for the first night of the Pehdstcajumba tour. Having a weird feeling and checking Craigslist one last time for a ticket, and an ad posted, 3 hours before showtime, someone looking to give away an extra ticket to a True Tom Waits fan, to send a message explaining why I should receive the ticket. Pouring my soul in a response to the ad, 30 minutes go by and my phone rings, and yes, I had won that extra ticket. My life was changed that night, finally got to see the legend take away a packed house at the beautiful Orphueum theater on a musical journey. Pure Magic.Thank you Tom, Thank You.
Invitation to the blues is one of the most beautiful and incredible songs I've heard in my entire life. This song alone is enough reason to respect this man forever and ever
Brilliant ! You always make me laugh and think. Ever more older brother lent me an album of yours ( some live one in NYC I imagined ) I have followed you. Thanks
Holy Moly! Wow! Did not know WHERE the heck Tom was going with this one... then, BOOM! The profound nature of the words hits with the weight of a Steam Train gone nuclear! Wow! THIS guy can SEE sh*t, ole Tom can! He's 5D Chessin' it with this one! Bravo! Now?! Now, gotta rewatch the vid. The marrow of my bones heard Crystal clear, but my ears appear to need another go, because the ole mind does not yet fully understand the words...;)
I feel the exact same way. I don't live in the U.S. I know he'll never tour here. I want to travel to see him, but how could I secure tickets? I need a ticket broker or something.
The planet isn't burned out. The society that inhabits it may be, though. The Earth will go on for billions of years after humans are long gone just as if we were never here.
@Gordon Fornow Indeed. There are communities such as you describe but they aren't in North America nor Western Europe. That IS for sure. The "West" is destroying itself through greed and vanity.
timeless genius will always knock you on your ass when you least expect it. this one is so different, he's no different. deadly from the place you could never guess...
He is given over... Never thought he would, he has given over, never realized that is what his music is about but if not he has certainly given over. The "cherry bomb" interview was a bridge too far. He has given over. If he was not always given over, he has given NOW over for sure. He is given over.
@@jaybones8457 Not hard to figure out and I was a huge Tom Waits fan. Going Out West, Jersey Girl, even Eye Ball kid. Very entertaining but his reference about the 9 yr old girl and cherry bomb and clown, I know symbolism and if anyone on the planet knows symbolism it is Tom Waits. One of my favorites was Had a Good Home But I Left. And Last Leaf On The Tree. Hardly a song he ever made, I did not find worth listening to. Oh, and Jesus Gonna Be Here too. Great music, Oh and God's Away On Business, mentioned in this interview. All of it was great. The reference to the little girl and him being a "cherry bomb" and a "clown." Can't understand this shit at all. It is called symbolism my friend and his songs are full of symbolism. That is why I know his words were intentional and on the "dark side" for sure.
