Taking this new Tomahawk mist blower out of the box and comparing it to one with a Tomahawk mist blower equipped with a turbo. www.amazon.com/shop/gpackard
I used it 3 times. It is an excellent machine specially for outdoor activities. Mine is the exact model but it is a little different. This one says 30-1 mine says 50-1. The presenter's hand blocks the starting part. Seven with hose also does a great job. After some search I chose 12 ml of Demand and a gallon of water. he tank gets heavy if it is full instead zi used 2 gallon of water and 23 ml Demand CS.
Would love to see a video on what chemicals to use in different applications. I have a half an acre of (meadow) yard and I live near a canal. The weeds in my yard are a fight every year and so are mosquitos. 😩
You can but just make sure you are using a respirator, goggles, and make sure the space is well ventilated. You do not want to be in a closed off space with the 2 stroke engine on this thing pumping Carbon monoxide into the air.
I am considering purchasing this unit to spray for mosquitos on my property. The MFG claims a "25 Ft +" vertical spray. I have large oak trees, in your estimation will this spray vertically about 25 ft? I question this as it is also advertised as 40 Ft horizontal, and from the video's I have watched looks good to be spraying out 20 Ft. I dont intend to spray directly straight up, but probably at a good 60-70 degree angle from the ground to get the best coverage I can get. Thanks for any input!
You should know that this tank is not pressurized meaning you have to keep your wand pointed towards the ground hold it wide open and then quickly flip it up to get whatever liquid that's in your wand to get sprayed up in that tree. These prayers are not like the Makita sprayers that have a pressurized tank and will spray vertically all day long with no problem at all. This is however a cheap unit and made for the homeowner.
Works great as a blower for my 2 acre yard. You can keep the tank about 1/4 full, close the valve at the throttle which lets the water cycle and keep the pump cool, and that's it.
Side by side. Whats better after using it for the summer. Stihl or tomahawk? What has a better vertical spray stihl or tomahawk? I need to get the bugs high up in my oaks.
stihl is better i think, but now we found an even better sprayer made by Makita, it's a 4 stroke and is awesome. the stihls are blowing up on us so i won't recommend them.
I have not but we have used the stih cheml blowers for a few years and we were having crank problems so we went with the Makita 4 stroke blowers and we LOVE THEM !
I have the Invatech Italia 868 which looks to be the exact same thing as the Tomahawk but rebranded. If I wanted to use it as a leaf blower, Invatech says to remove the turbo which is an obnoxious and a complicated procedure. But Tomahawk says to just fill the tank 1/4 full with water then turn off the white fluid valve - so there is fluid in the system and the turbo won't burn out. Do you know how these turbos work and how they are cooled? If water is in the tank is it constantly being cycled thru the turbo or only when the white valve is opened? I can't get a straight answer from Invatech; they have no clue and just keep repeating that it needs to be removed.
Always enjoy your videos George. You still have the Florida operation going? Haven't seen any footage of you down there in quite a while. Enjoyed those vids probably because it mirrors my operation the most
So it's been 4 years and you may have been running these Tomahawks for that time. How have they fared? I have 1,000+hrs on a SR 450 doing mosquito and these Tomahawks just seem very underpowered and cheap. I know it was windy in this test, but it looked like it was struggling to spray ~6 feet overhead. Even a SR 200 feels like it has more CFM output than this thing, and for only a $50 premium. I know the tank size is larger here, but in my years of experience doing mosquito in some densely wooded areas in Georgia, more CFM means I can treat more from a larger distance without having to trudge through thickets just to get close enough to treat some foliage.
get Makita period ! you'll see why. runs better, weight is distributed better, no mixing oil (4 stroke ) all in all more dependable. If you get one, comment to me and let me know as there are some changes you need to make to make it better and are simple,
@@GPackard I would love to hear about the changes to make. I just used mine for the first time yesterday and had a few issues with filter clogging and solution tube coming off during use. My email is : davidsetness@gmail.com
I don’t do this for a living I just wanted to basically for my house and my camp. I looked at the more expensive brands but I think this will probably work great for what I need it for. is it very heavy? I am 55 185lb and not an athlete by any means.😂 Thanks Fred
@@GPackard Wtf why did you have to throw a 3rd option into the mix… lol im a Diy tgat doesn’t mind spending money on quality equipment ill check the makita out thanks
