In the first cutscene: Why is Lara cutting the rope although she is just holding it with her hands? She could have saved the poor peruian guide if she just let go.
Thats a good point about the trees in that underground xD But my favourite was "Why is there so much blood on the spikes, what the hell happened?" rofl My only critique was I wish the video was longer :)
"Who is this?!" made me laugh for about five minutes straight. Your sense of humor kills me every time, Chris. Please make videos like this for all of the classic games in the series! I honestly can't wait to hear what you have to say about everything in the sequels! 😂
Haha cheers Brandon! I don't know if I'll do more of these yet. If I do, it'll likely only be the first 3 since OpenLara doesn't support anything past that. Yet.
out of all the first 3 tomb raider games this may be the wackiest and going back and playing this one after playing anniversary, its astounding how many differences there are between the two.
When my nieces were little girls, they used to insist in me playing TR for them to watch, since they found it too scary to play it themselves, and when they asked "who put all that stuff around the place?" I felt baffled that the idea hadn't crossed my mind before. ALSO: How on Earth did wolves and bears get to Peru??? (both animals are restricted to the North hemisphere) AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: at the beginning of the game, during the FMV sequence when Lara opens up those huge stone doors. Why does she have to reach for a knife inside her boot to cut a rope that she's simply grabbing, while her guide is being brutally attacked by vicious wolves????
The answer to most of these questions is magic science. The animals were kept as guardians, compelled to protecc the ruins from intruders by magic science spells. Puzzles were put in place because every treasure was meant to be reached, but only by whoever knew how. All of that is my headcanon, and I'll die on these hills.
Why oh why are classic Tomb Raider games so awesome?! It's because you can get MUCH more creative if you're not always so much concerned with if everything makes sense! ;)
It always genuinly frustrated me that when Lara picks up the Final Scion piece, the Cutscene just shows her leaving the Tomb through a small passageway. It never revealed how she got there from the point of were you picked up the Scion. You raise alot of intresting points here.
I think the scion was a sort of ancient hard drive, that allowed some sort of time travel, and also could synthesize the life forms that were created in the pyramid.
How can an archaeologist get reknown more by shooting and adventuring than doing scientific research; why hasn't she got arrested by murders; when did the ark of covenant fits in and how wouldn't she get prosecuted after stealing in front of everyone?? What where the devs thinking of?
0:30 If Core Design had their way, we'd have gotten an answer in 2006: this room is a dungeon/guard wolf den and people were being fed to them, to the point of being hung from crossbeams like pigs in an abattoir.
“Why doesn’t it have any legs?!” 💀💀 I tend to hate “Everything Wrong With ____” videos, but you’re probably the only channel I would ever trust to do one on the Tomb Raider franchise 👏
Why, in the opening cutscene, does Lara keep firing to her left when only the two wolves on her right are still alive? How did four wolves leave just two sets of tracks in the snow?
What program do you use for your edditing? And what is the background music called. BTW. loved your video, reaaaally good editing skills you have. You can be proud of yourself!
I remembered that Neptune was incorrectly named, but I completely forgot about the Thor room until the Anniversary commentary reminded me, also why is there a Roman coliseum in Greece?
The incorrect deity names bothered me even when I was a kid. Either the game developers were extremely ignorant of mythology or they thought their players were. If it's the latter, it's baffling that they thought the audience would be familiar with Midas and Damocles, but not Poseidon or Hephaestus. Or since they implemented electricity in the beginning of that room, they could have just called it Zeus.
@@Raidercast Yeeeeeeees! in all honesty, I want to just thank you, because these videos have really changed my perspective on the game. Like I've always been obsessed, but the video regarding Anniversary and core, and the plot holes and the talk throughs, just makes me play the game in a completely different light you know? It's like... Childhood adolescence level 9000. 😂
@@samz8691 This kind of video being made for AoD? It would require several episodes, each about an hour long :D (Mind you, I love AoD, but so much was cut out of the game... granted, it also means that a lot of those questions would actually be easily answered with all the info we have about it that wasn't in the game)
@@Potkanka I loved AOD too, its not perfect but it at least has actual exploration, unlike some games... Since Eidos basically pulled the rug from Core and made them release the game several months early from the agreed-on date after the development hell, Core actually pretty much had the game's plot all written out...but didn't get to actual record the actual dialogue/create the cut scenes. So if you look enough to cut (but fully intended to be in the game only stopped by time constraints thanks to Eidos) content, there's actually not too many plot holes. But since it was, We get Lara magically knowing who Karel is.
@@samz8691 Yup, the story was super detailed, with a lot of backstory too... True, Lara somehow knowing Karel was one of the bigger plotholes. There's also Muller talking about Boaz deserving her fate before anything actually happened to her. Or the fact that it was never revealed how Bouchard miraculously disappeared and Lara found him dead moments later (it was actually Karel in disguise who she'd interrogated earlier). Like, with all the cut content, it would all make so much more sense :(
Yasss a new video! Ah, and so many questions... As someone in the commnets already mentioned, Natla has a mutant on her back. And ya know, the idea of Atlanteans not needing to breathe is a very interesting one... Hmmm. (Also I have a whole backstory for Kid working for Natla but it's really for the purpose of my fanfics rather than anything canonical...) All those animals still being alive and not mauling each other though... it would make Lara's job so much easier, wouldn't it? Also I hope Qualopec was simply dressed in some funeral clothes made of material that decomposed over time (his mechanical "legs" were still there, after all), because sitting his corpse there naked just sounds way too weird. :D
A Wizard Did It. As for TR2? Wizard. TR3? Wizard! TLR? Sorcerer... psyche, Wizard. Chronicles? 4 Wizards at a table. AoD? Drunk Wizard who intentionally sabotaged Core Design. Legend? Short Wizard. Anniversary? This Wizard's son who prefers grapple hooks and ragdoll deaths over magical 20 foot jumping ability and scream n thud. Underworld? Legend Wizard transmogrified into a dancing blue spider. Reboot? Wizard obsessed with the Uncharted series. Rise? Wizard obsessed with MacGyver. Shadow? Honestly, no clue, but likely Wizard-based.
