Though I wasn’t the one who found this out, the camera problem can be fixed, at least for the Switch, by mapping the “look” to the R shoulder button when using modern control. That way the camera is always behind her.
Oh, that's cool. I'll try that on my steam deck if it works there as well. I have only tested modern controls for like 20 mins and always kept the camera behind her with the right stick and only using forward so it behaves kind of like tank controls but I'll give this a try, thanks for that!
Yeah, the camera problem makes its way to Steam too but I've almost learned to work around it. Almost being the keyword. Also switching through the old and new graphics can get really addicting once you find the button.
I’ve been playing this on the Switch and it feels very frustrating at times as the controls are clunky. They should have added an option lock on mechanic. But thanks to save scumming I’m slowly making progress.
This is such a perfect fit for the switch. These games are tough, but there's something also chill and relaxing about playing them, especially the first one. It is such comfort food to take the switch to bed on a cold winter night, cozy up and run around Croft Manor or some deep sprawling Tomb and mess around jumping and exploring before bed I can't hate this remaster for the price, I think the new art style looks great. It doesn't drastically change the look of the game outside of the different lighting for the first game, but everything feels like it is authentically classic Tomb Raider. It just makes things a bit more palatable on the eyes is all. This looks like a good PS2 game instead of an early PS1 game. My only gripe is just that the modern control scheme sucks. There has to be some kind of hybrid between the classic precision tank controls and the more agile and mobile modern controls and camera. But the problem is modern analog controls just severely cripple Lara's moveset and they make it so that she can't change directions without also jolting around and running a couple of steps in that direction. Which is a death sentence in this game Either way it's nice to have the OG Lara Croft make an appearance in the modern gaming age. This will always be the version of that character that I think of whenever she is mentioned for whenever the franchise is mentioned. I don't dislike the reboot trilogy, in fact I really like them. But they're missing a charm that the original version of the character brought to the franchise. This goes way beyond sex appeal, OG Lara Croft is a downright anti-hero. She is often selfish and motivation, she is sassy and sarcastic and brash, and probably a bit psychotic to go along with being a billionaire super genius. She's just such a fun fantasy character, perfect for something like a video game. Her badassery is just chosen rather than thrust upon her through trauma. And it makes these adventures more fun to embark on.
I dunno I tried to play it and it's absolutely impossible on ps5 the camera is just bonkers. At least TR1, I hope the others are better. I have been waiting for this one so long but really it is unbelievable how they could release it in this state on consoles .. I am not a complainer but I wonder how u could play it past the first 2 or 3 minutes. GUYS DO NOT BUY ON CONSOLE UNLESS THEY PATCH IT FIRST!!
On Steam many people complain about this on PC as well. I’ll wait (as always) at least 6 months so it gets from “beta” to “release” version 😂 besides that, it will improve and the price will come down. I did the same with Cyberpunk: why to pay full price and “early beta” version, when I can buy for a lower price the real “release” version?
