That is probably the route I would go if I got these UEL headers. The FA is fine without a resonator and stock header but UEL really needs a resonator to help with the smoother rumble.
He should get a small resonateur, I have a 2019 sti and I have a nameless 3.5" axleback and a 2015+ mid-pipe and it sounds amazing but too loud, might put small resonateur but idk might keep it that way ahaha
@@samharris3508 you actually gain power still. However it is just not a healthy combo with UEL's and a twin-scroll regardless. But hey at the end of the day. Subie rumble ftw
Bruh. Do you know how expensive a new long/short block is with internals and labor lmao. Relax on the non tuned pulls. Stay out of boost. And no a base map isn’t gonna regulate a uel on a twin scroll set up.
Matt Lubeski nope, we do. Even Rally sport direct said you will lose spool and response. Also it’s proven UEL is a cause of ring land failure. So yup. We do know.
Your video is very helpful as my exhaust setup is fairly similar to yours. It confirmed my fears about being slightly raspy in the midrange but I could definitely see a resonator cleaning up the rumble a bit. I am leaning more towards this new UEL header, thank you for your video! Edit: I commented too early. 5:13 mark was an insane sound. It definitely sounds better above 5k RPM.
"sounds like a BRZ and an STI had a baby" is actually a pretty good way to describe it, lol! The rumble seems to be more distinct in the higher RPM range...from what I can tell. I preordered mine a couple weeks ago and can 't wait to get them. Nice video man!
Can't wait ait to get a set of these for my WRX... I've really missed the Rumble... Will just have to manage to get her tuned once I get them in... What kind of change in gas mileage did you see with them??
Hey man! Sorry for this novel of a comment lol New to your channel here. What brought me here was research on the UEL on the 2015+ WRX. I noticed this video was made at least a year ago. And I was curious as to if you are still runnin them. And if so, I was curious on any damages, cons, or generally anything bad on your car with the UEL. Other than losing the benefit of the twin scroll. I tried researching but they’re still so new there’s not a lot of videos or anything about people using them and their horror stories. I was just curious if anything bad occurred while having them. And if you had a video that I didn’t see if you could link it possibly? Love the content I’m already seeing and stay blessed homie. Btw thank you for anything in advance 🙌
Hey man, I got an STI in my newer videos but to sum up the headers. I loved the headers honestly. The only issue I’ve ever had was my D.A.M. would be bad on cold starts. Subscribe to the channel and watch my newer videos with my STI!
sounds sick bro i have the same jpipe and the rev9 turbo inlet, right now i have an invidia n1 and im looking to buy the uel header as well, have you had it on the dyno yet? any power loss? sounds amazing
@@Kacpa2 Doesn’t reduce the power much, but it does increase turbo lag. A good tuner can mitigate lag between shifts by dumping fuel for a split second longer after throttle position closes. That’ll cause it to pop and afterfire alot, but manifold pressure will be maintained better when you get back on the throttle. Running UEL, I’d be more concerned with the cylinder pressure and temp difference between all 4 cylinders, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend being in boost a lot even with a pro tune. Uneven cylinder wear = shorter engine life…fact
Stock turbo is tiny so it spools fast but twin scroll turbos need equal exhaust pressure to spin each scroll at the same rate otherwise you're losing spool.
Hey bro when you install the UEL headers do you need a tune for it and if so can you do it if you have a access port or do you have to go to a dyno tune shop for them to tune I so want to get the UEL headers for 2020 subaru wrx
@@AznKhmyboy already but what I'm saying is that can I tune it with the cob access port or do I need to go to a dyno tune shop or doesn't matter which one did you did
Alex Estrada just get an e-tune through your AP. A tuner can easily send you a tune, load it on your AP and then load it onto your car. Not hard at all.
Very nice bro. I laugh a little as only a few month's ago and in 2015 ALL the WRX people with 2015 onwards were I don't care about the rumble I like how 5he FA sounds. Now ALL of them want the ULH. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
@@ryandjryomayer738 well they are definetly known for the rumble anyone with half a brain should know. And alot of potential buyers go for something else when they find it has no rumble like the last generations have had. Subaru knows this. We will see
If anything the power is going to go down with uel, and you risk alot of boost creep in the fa-20’s. Sounds mint but personally would only do it for something like a show car or a car im not gunna daily or run hard.
I guess the rumble really is part of what makes a subaru a subaru. I think tomei is going to sell a crap ton of these and once cobb puts a base map tune out for these they will sell even more.
So this seems like a new thing with the FA20 platform .... not sure you will gain any power from uel headers on these cars I think the only cool thing is the classic rumble you get from them ... interested to see the dyno results
A tune is not required for headers, exhaust, intake etc, and will just be for the sound, but if you want the performance aspects then yes. If you install all them parts and get a pro-tune it will be a different car.
You definitely need a tune for headers and as far as exhaust goes, if you change the down pipe you need a tune. If you leave that stock and just do something like muffler deletes you will not need a tune.
twin scroll headers for the sti are like $2000 and you decided to get rid of your factory twin scroll system for a header that will lower the amount of horsepower, torque and make your turbo spool slower. Tell me you at least got a single scroll turbo so you arent running a divided housing with one input
Dam dude your not tuned and your doing pulls... not smart lol sounds good but idk if I’m gonna do it it’s not good for the car or the turbo . I wonder where boost is gonna hit when it’s tuned bc it’s deff not gonna hit early like everyone’s used to
U wont notice a loss or gain until it is tuned, mods having to do with exhaust and airflow in general dont make a difference on their own usually, u have to get tuned to be able to use the increased airflow given by the airflow type mods.
@@RagerWRX I like them a lot. The ff gold looks good on the red. Haven't decided if I want the rumble yet. I do miss it. I Had a 2004 wrx wagon. Keep the videos coming.
RagerWRX literally a mile down Sumner when you drove by the plaza where TenRen’s is at. I used to work there. A couple of my buddies were subie drivers too! You may or may not have seen us there if you’ve been there before 😂
Maybe i'm getting old but this doesn't sound good at all. I'm all for loud exhausts but if it sounds good. This is just loud for no reason lol. That's why i kept my 18 wrx exhaust stock lol. Well that and plus it's a lease so i can't modify it. I feel like your car would be fine being this loud if it was very fast. Like 500awhp, or 600 etc. Then you have an excuse to be this loud. But i know what stock power of this wrx is, it's not fast at all. It's rather slow. So it's just super loud, and you're doing all this accelerating, shift, shift, shift, then you look at the speedo and you're barely going 55mph. The stock gearing in our cars blow man. Either way i like the channel because of the wrx content. I just feel like the UEL mod on a stock ass FA wrx isn't the way to go. It would sound good if it wasn't too freaking loud for a stock car.
@@rubenjunior3118 Not saying he's wrong or dumb for doing it. I been down this road before. My 06 already had the UEL sound, all i did was add the catback, and it was fucking loud as fuck. Similar to this. But this was also like 8 years ago lol. I still like loud exhausts but idk i can't get into the subie rumble anymore. I'm into v8's now haha
