But does race really play that much of a part.? I ask because it is a genuine query. I may have led a somewhat sheltered life as compared to some. I live in a small resort community(not in America), and though it is a very culturally diverse community, with caucasian being the minority, race is rarely ever brought up. I do wonder if it(racism itself... or just a notable focus on race) could be partially due to the geography of a specific area and its history...🤷🏼♀️. The part that ignited my curiosity here was "...not used to talking to an intelligent black man...", the possible lack of her interactions with such. Is it really so rare.? And, if I may, could this not be construed as being somewhat racist, suggesting intelligent black men are so few and far between.? What he accomplished in just 20 mins of speaking to her is frankly amazing. She completely let her guard down when, due to lifestyle and experiences, she is very guarded. This was heartwarming, I loved seeing the little girl in her shine through. This is how I want to be able to affect people.

I could've used this advice a few years ago. My son's 6th birthday is right around the corner and she is just as crazy as she was back then... The most amazing part was his ending punchline when he said “That’s why I’m an image consultant who has went thru 2 marriages and divorces” , because in the beginning she was questioning his ability to give advice because his life wasn’t “perfect”. Yet at the end she says she doesn’t go to see therapists because she doesn’t think they have enough real life experiences to accurately consult her just because they earned a piece of paper from a school. So everything came Full circle again with Kevin making that final point of what his past qualifies him instead of disqualifying I don’t think she even realized that final statement full meaning.
Milton Friedman once said « Is there one of you who is going to say that you don’t want a doctor to treat you for cancer unless he himself has had cancer? ». She wanted to judge his advice based on whether he had goods relationship or not. Both are not correlated although nice to have.
I kind of agree though. U need life experience to relate to people to be able to give them valuable advice. Kevin has that and lots of therapist who went to school don’t. Currently right now in there’s a bachelor constant named Taylor Nolan who’s only 25 who is a therapist. She’s also under investigation bc she doesn’t understand u can’t divulge ur clients personal information. Make sure u pick ur therapist wisely.
