Without a doubt the best guitarist and entertainer. Early Opry entertainers successful in their own right struggled playing the guitar. You could count on one hand their being able to use chords while singing. The capo was used generously.
It's so humbling and awe inspiring how this man creates music. I love how his guitar is not perfect and bears all those wear marks. A true sign of real passionate playing. Thank you Tommy for sharing your amazing talent with the world and making it a little easier to live in.
Great musician not frightened to show how he plays his songs for others to learn not like many other guitar players who show you nothing a true master of the guitar just like chet Atkins
Toughest job in music--solo, unaccompanined, with attention to song structure that enchants the listener. He is not equal to Hendrix, he is different. But I know how tough it is to hypnotize an audience, and Tommy does it passionately and technically. If THAT is acting, what an actor he must be. Me, I call it MAGIC, via solo acoustic guitar. There IS no greater passion.
you are aware you completely contradicted your first post, though you are right, everyone is gifted on some level, my post was simply saying that if you are going to try to imitate anyone on guitar, imitate tommy, the man knows how to make a guitar sing, realguitarist7 hasnt played anything as amazing as this

I like the way everyone just sits there at the end .. like they are afraid to clap for fear they will break the spell... You have to figure that most in the audience were just recovering from the catch their breath caused by the magic of this performance.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone on this earth more amazing with a guitar than this guy. Its hard to believe what your hearing is one guy with just an acoustic . He's a cool dude to, always sharing the better part of his shows with other great artist.

As a gutiarist myself of 41 yrs. I can say that there simply arnt any superlitives to describe THAT. No psalms..no clever spins..that is pure love for what you do. And NOBODY does this style better. I have watched this. Vid a thousand times. Played the song that many more and I still must watch it at least once a week. Seen it live twice. Met the man twice. This is pure perfection! Tommy is one of the most talented guitarists on the planet! And with his You Tube videos we are so fortunate to be able to hear his remarkable playing! One of his greatest influences is the great Chet Atkins and for every guitarist out there there is no doubt that Tommy is carrying on the legacy of the legend and also creating his own!
Staggeringly beautiful. If you have never seen Tommy live, RUN to get tickets if he is anywhere near you. You will not be disappointed. It is truly amazing to watch a musician who is so totally in control of his instruments that he can literally play anything he wants.

I love this, the man is incredible, it is a gift every time I come back to hear it again. Even if one didn't "like" stylistically, you can still appreciate the skill required to pull it off. So I can't see how anyone could vote a thumbs down on it. Just a sign of the times were living in I guess.

I was always a Chet Atkins fan and felt no one could ever match him. Well, I need to re-state that now. Tommy Emmanuel has taken over the title Mr. Guitar. No one can match his technical ability, style and passion. Tommy, you are at the very top of your game.
I think Tommy is an excellent example of the student surpassing the master, just as it should be. Tommy took what he learned from his hero Chet and flew into the stratosphere with it. I reckon even Chet would agree. This is magic stuff.
One of the most classic concert renditions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" ever done.... just listen to the quality of every note, the melodic movement, chrording, dynamics, and harp-like effects. Skilled musicianship at it's best.
