The US is so divided that Gutfeld gets numbers that high? I'm offended as a fan of comedy. His segments are neither funny nor smart. Even the timing and delivery is cringey.

Tommy is as funny watching these clips as the clips are painfully unfunny and unsettling. He nailed it: this isn't for people who want comedy, it's just to feel like they're owning the libs. Pretty sad.

Gutfeld is probably only #1 because population is split between the actually funny late night shows.

That rating is probably a lot more skewed anyways, because most people watch late night content on RU-vid these days.

i would theorize that gutfeld's high numbers are the result of staunch fox viewers having fallen asleep earlier in the evening with the tv on. his "comedy" is just one cringe piled on too of another, and evidence that conservatives just don't know how to do comedy, which is ironic, given that so many of their daily pronouncements and escapades are readymade satire, ripe for the picking.

HA Bill Burr is not a Republican. He is a bit dumb on politics, but he would cop to that. But no Republican. Just kind of one of those confused 5o year old guys when it comes to the media landscape. Actually a smart guy otherwise and quite liberal

Uhm... I have never heard about this show, which I take as a good sign. But if I get it right, he brings up (and show footage of) people being murdered for comedy that seemingly no one laughs at, probably because it's you know, murder. He has people dressed up as random figures that... has some sort of purpose I presume, and he demeans ALL of his co-hosts or whatever they are. My take is that this is watched because conservative people just don't have any other shows, but why does it have to... suck? I am extremely confused by... pretty much everything I just saw.

As always, great work. One thing for the producer - by replaying the segment of Gutfeld’s show behind Tommy while he’s talking about showing clip after clip of people being brutally murdered - that was painful, gang. Also, seriously undercut Tommy’s message. 1 time, you have to show it, but replaying that same segment under his rightful statement that it’s not appropriate to show clips like that repeatedly. I’m amazed this made it out the door. Nothing but respect to the production team, frealz, but had to let you know how distasteful I found that choice. Love you. Mean it.

Wow, I feel like my brain started trickling out of my ear listening to Gutfeld

Yeah, I've watched a few of the "maga comedians" and it's all like this. Jim Brewer doesn't even make jokes in his set. He pretends to be a parrot saying "facts and figures" which elicits roaring laughter from the crowd of retirees.

Just hearing GUTFELD make that zinger about sponge baths inspires me to remind people that GUTFELD gets a massage from two people every single day. The party of projection strikes again :)

Disturbing & incredibly not funny.

Do people actually watch his show, it's like listening to someone scratching a chalkboard whilst banging their head against a wall.

I maintain that Gutfeld is one of the worst of the bunch. For years he did mediocre political comedy crapping on both sides on RedEye at stupid o'clock in the morning then when he saw an opportunity as FNC become more and more far-right in its absurdities he pounced and started wearing the suits and changed out his material for "Own Da Lib" anti-comedy and has been rewarded handsomely for it with his own show during awake hours. For how bad it is to be a true believer, knowing that you are selling poison and selling it with gusto is an entire other level of malevolence.

I can't tell if the jokes are written bad or he just cant deliever them. I could only tell from a couple what the punch line was suppose to be.

I'm so glad to see Tommy back, I hope that he and Hanna are doing okay, and I want to thank them for sharing their story with all of us. I'm just sorry the poor guy had to come back to a war in Ukraine and now Gutfeld segments.

Meyers is the only Late Night that's actually adventurous with the comedy. I have a lot of respect for Colbert but he's not been funny for a while now. Fallon and Kimmel and so on i just never got in the first place.

Gutfeld being "popular" is the same as Fox news being popular as Fox is monolithic for the right. Sure you have your News Max, but they are tiny. On your not-right it's all split among so many providers that they be never individually more "Popular". I wasn't that surprised when the rankings were revealed. I have seen attempts to breakdown why right wing comedy isn't funny, and I believe none of them get to the core as they approach the subject in good faith: It's not comedy, just as Fox News is not news. It's propaganda.

Gutfeld is #1 because he's basically the only right-wing late night show on the main right-wing channel, whereas the other shows are all competing for the same audience of moderate to liberal tv watchers.

If it weren't for a management error at Fox Gutfeld would be unemployed, he's not funny, nor relatable, nor informative, nor from what I can discern remotely competent. Lets see him survive in an actual competitive environment, no wonder no one had ever heard of him before Fox. He could be OK in comedy movies but only as the main characters ex wife's new douchebag boyfriend, since it would require no acting at all on his part.

Gutfeld is the top late night show only because all of Fox Nation and the MAGA crowd watch it. It’s the only thing available that caters to that market. Whereas the majority of normal Americans split their viewership between Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers and others. There are so many more choices if you don’t want a comedy show with a right-wing bias. It’s the same reason Tucker has the highest-rated cable news show - not because it’s any good, but out of sheer partisan brand loyalty.

I know why Gutfeld is popular. My first realization that people are just awful was in 3rd grade when I was front row to a 'poor' kid getting slammed by a bully. When the kid was on the ground bleeding everyone was just standing there laughing at him. Puzzled and concerned for the kid I looked around me for help but the only faces I saw were evil grins... I remember slowly backing out of the crowd scared to shit. Since I have lost my faith in humanity.

This what happens when you do comedy without the intent of making people laugh. Like if instead of being relatable in a comedic fashion, you just hamfistedly push a political agenda. Conservatives aren't funny, because good comedy requires at least a tiny shred of empathy to relate to your audience. And true conservatives have literally no empathy.

Someone mentioned earlier in a comment, and I believe quite the same: dude, you really sound like a fed that has to make a report on a TV show he doesn't like. Apart from not wanting (and, maybe, being able) to understand the jokes and their context, the setup and the approach of his jokes, why the hell are you forcing yourself to watch it? Especially when you know you can't have an objective approach 🙂 I mean, if forcing yourself both visually and mentally to go through some cropped segments of a TV show, why don't you force yourself to also add some objectivity to your ? Gutfeld is number one because he's alone on the "right-wing comedy" market, the others (Kimmel, Colbert, Meyer, Fallon) sort of overlap so the audience is divided between them..

Since Gutfeld?! (proper punctuation) is one of the few right-leaning late night shows, his ratings might be more representative of the (appropriate) dearth of that content. What would the numbers be if you stacked all of the ostensibly left-leaning late night shows against all of the right-leaning? My guess is that would reflect more of what the polling on policy has been showing... that the nation as a whole is leaning left. My guess is that if many of the mainstream late night shows were no longer airing, what would remain would surpass Gutfeld?! in the ratings.

To put up a clip of Bill Burr while saying “There are Republicans that are harsh and mean to Democrats” is, to me, not understanding Burr’s humor or his political stance. I think that’s a cheap blow to try and suggest that he’s a Republican.

Gutfeld, like all shows on Fox, are rated the highest because it's really the only conservative channel. Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers, etc are all on different channels, and there are a lot more options for progressives to choose from, thus splitting the ratings.

Right wing entertainment reminds me of Roger Allam's character in V for Vendetta. I feel like they all watch dystopian movies for roadmaps, pointers or as a how to.
