Actually the lyrics are not the same in the Swedish translation from the French poem. In the Swedish version the text is “Folk, fall nu neder Och hälsa glatt din frihet “ translates to “People, fall to your knees, and happily honour your freedom”/“People, fall down now, and happily greet your freedom”. It is interesting how 2 translations from one poem can be so different I don’t know French but I have read that the Swedish translation is more true to the original.

@ When I heard the phrase ; Folk, fall nu neder....... I immediatly understood that..... I am Dutch, and Swedish and Dutch aren`t very easy languages but do have some things we understand ...... like gav....... in Dutch its gaf...... in englisch gave..... frihet, vrijheid in Dutch....freedom in english...... I wish I was 50 years younger so I had the brains and patience to learn more languages. For now it`s some englisch, some German and of course Dutch.

@@rianvandenhoof4124 when I’m in Netherlands I usually understand like every 5 words. It is like your language is like someone threw in some Scandinavian, English and German words in a bag and then they added a lot of extra i, j and some z in the bag and then drew words and on some the extra characters was added.

The lyrics are very similar to the English version, Oh Holy Night. It is about the birth of Christ.
