This comments section is as divisive as the twitch chat, which is pretty funny. Jelly Epoch and 7V are premium boards as well as the Tomo. People complaining about the 720USD price point for the SE, I don't know if you realize the only thing SE brings is the polished backplate, the 525USD version is the same thing. If you like a top mount then you like a top mount, if you care more for gasket/flex boards then you like that. People that have been in the hobby a while I'm sure have a collection that includes both those styles, I know I do. You don't need to act like you have to go one way or another, just use whatever you feel like using at the time.

While I totally agree your points, but se is not just with a polished plate. The material for the plate is different, alum vs. stainless steel. And you get one pair of se exclusive black pvd badge. And silver casing is a se exclusive. Highlighting this purely so that others choosing between the two options don’t get misguided. And tho 720usd is surely a lot to pay for a unlimited GB board, I think it’s still the best shot for people who can’t get hand on a TGR to experience it for once.

@@mechingtouch826 You're right, I misspoke. I was mainly trying to point out that aside from the aesthetic that the sound won't really change between the two price points. I will be polishing my backplate to make a mimicked version of the SE plate. The extras also include brass badges which enticed me more than the black considering the colorway I'm opting for with this board.

I think the aesthetics, the sound and the build experience is worth it. I joined the GB on Suave Blue and no regrets! I buy this to keep for myself. Even if the bashing continues, it will only hurts the flipper/scalper.

It’s actually sounds fine for me, i feel like looking for something non gasket is getting ridiculously rare nowadays. I just wish that they gave him the PC plate instead since it’s going to be the main option.

It’s about high expectation that comes with the high price tag not being fully met, compared to a sound profile like Jelly epoch / Vega which is preferred by many as a fad. Nothing wrong with a top mount board tho.

@@JL-fh4qw lmao, cookiecurls basically proved the point that if you foamed the plate and case you get muted sound, look at all of her builds of Keycult, Iron165, and chimera. Even a Tofu 65 will sound good with 2 layers of foam.

Why does everyone who didn't buy the Tomo are the ones talking loudly like "glad I didn't fall for the FOMO" and are more critical about it being a Top Mount. As if an unlimited group buy is forcing you buy one. Let people enjoy getting their (most likely first) TGR boards, no one is shoving into your throat that they bought a Tomo.

I understand where you're coming from, but I do disagree. I feel like it's actually the opposite where they took more care into carving in a dedicated space to ensure the arrow keys aren't lost with the rest of the keys

@@Sebastian-qn9vi My problem with exploded keys in 75% is they add even more asymmetry. It's okay with the Satisfaction because the whole board design had to be asymmetric to accomodate the led screen and knob. Tomo just looks cleaner. However, I do prefer the exploded keys when looking at 65%, the Sun68 layout is a great example of how balanced the exploded keys look. Or 1800 layouts too.

I really enjoy the sound. I think I’m just a little underwhelmed by the space bar, when space bars can sound like the Jelly or Salvation. Nothing wrong with the space bar, but wish it had a little extra spice. Hoping the PC plate changes the SB sound profile a bit

For real. They keep making the same damn boards like that because it sounds good when you record it. But in person, those boards are too muted and can barely hear the qualities of the switch unless you put your ear right by it.

You shouldnt judge a keyboard by its typing sound, because different plate and switch produce different sound. That being said, the board itself is a collab ran by Monokei, not TGR. Dont buy this board because of the hype, there are lots of reasonable price top mount keyboard. Buyer's remorse is real, and screw the flippers. Im looking forward to Geon's F2-84.

agree - sound-wise anyone with enough time and effort can replicate using a cheaper case - even if you take the sound out of the equation, knowing the SE edition (which is what was tested by Taeha) is $720USD it definitely does not reflect people’s hopeful expectations of the build / feel quality

Lmao at people that think H1 switches and lack of foam is what makes this board sound super clacky...no it's just the way the board is designed. 75% top mounts generally has that clacky sound and probably related to other parts of its construction. H1 switches sound amazing on gasket boards, all the JWKs do. It sounds like a regular top mount.

Switches amongst many other things have a huge impact on sound so I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to point that out here. The combination of H1 switches + alu plate will make the board more clacky compared to other combos. If you watch Taeha’s 7V sound test with with H1s it actually sounds very similar to this even though it’s using a PC plate. Your comment seems to imply that top mount always sounds a particular way and there’s nothing to be done about it, but tuning a board to sound the way you want is a big part of the hobby. Top mount boards can sound amazing, I don’t see a reason for this to be an exception to that.
