Today we're taking it back to the 70s and early 80s, chasing that classic heavy metal tone!
As promised in the video, here are the amp settings and details:
Amp: EVH 5153 50 watt head, EL34 tubes
Cabinet: EVH 2x12 (matching)
Gain: 7
Bass: 4.5
Mids: 6.5
Treble: 6.5
Volume: 1.5
Presence: 6
OD: None
Noise Gate: None
Effects: Boss DD7 Digital Delay (just a little touch)
Post-Production: Compressor plugin/PreSonus Studio One
Guitar: LTD M-1000 Deluxe (late 2000 model)
I'd say this is anywhere from Black Sabbath to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden styles. Feel free to comment if you're thinking of some other bands from the classic metal era!
And even though I wasn't using 'classic' gear, I think we came pretty close to capturing that style of metal.
The song you heard, in the beginning, is 'The Epicist' from my first album, Apocalyptic Dreams.
Tone Talk is always a cool topic, so let me know if you guys would like more videos like this now and then!
Keep it Metal,
Jason
