John and the panel are beside themselves over this sexy young lady who has patterned her whole look and style after Marilyn Monroe. Robert Preston is the guest panelist.
And very smart! I love how eloquently the host, John Daly, explains nuances without giving too much away. He is absolutely perfect for this show. Yes, I miss politeness and flirting that didn't cross boundaries. I especially miss the days when it was impolite to talk politics or religion in mixed company. Lately, I'm afraid to attempt small talk while waiting. Too many angry people walking around ready to explode.
Arlene Francis' genius: "You won't catch a girl like that standing still." AF: "Do they come to you for these services?" TW: "Yes." AF: "They'd be fools not to."
@@CharmingNewSociety Well, she's obviously a studied and strong woman, who could throw you across a room, so likely would be the kind of girl who'd help you shoe horses then say "wash the dishes hon," so, my kind of woman!
The attention to language and grammar is truly wonderful. This is back when we still thought television could be a force for good in the world. This isn't only funny it's delightful.
I started watching WML thoroughly in the last year. John Daly has an incredible command of the English language. When he explains to the panelists that they may be "wrong", he also words it that they "are not exactly right either". Thought to be the best game show host of all time aside from Barker or Sajak.
The 'Monroe look was very hot with young women then and this lady seized the craze early. Thanks contestant,Toni West, you're contribution to feminine beauty is memorized here on RU-vid....50 years later!
AMEN!! A.F. was as brilliantly witty as they come!! Amazing personality!! She is known to all of us who adore WML, and of course she is famous, but I must say I think she is actually underrated!! Very underrated!!
The resemblance to Marilyn is amazing. It's as if Marilyn is playing the role of a judo instructor. It's refreshing to see how much fun the panel could have with a beautiful woman and keep it CLEAN. Good CLEAN fun.
Wow. Miss West really lights up the episode. Obviously she lit the men's fuses -- but Arlene and Dorothy also like her. [Dorothy waves like a school girl and Arlene observes dryly, "They be fools not to." ] LOL
I was stationed near Miss West back in the day. We hit it off and dated. She said I was the best she ever had. I would do it with her for hours on end. I was boxing at the time and in great shape. She would even beg for it!!!!! I did her at her judo school right on the mats. We must have had relations well over 100+ times. Like an aggressive dog, I marked my territory. She wanted me more. I was tapping other ladies, she wanted us to be an item.
Bucky Brown I’m not sure exactly when it started but sounds as if u would find the Me Too Movement laughable and believe that Brett Kavanaugh was an innocent choir boy.
I had to go back and look, and there he was under all that mustache! I've only ever seen him a bit older. Always found him charming and an amazing voice. He was quite handsome too
This was such fun watching these really amusing, witty, intelligent panelists & the wonderful guests! John Daly was a great host. Arlene Francis & Dorothy Kilgallen almost always led the way!
she was in the movies 'a face in the crowd', 'never love a stranger'; an lyric soprano singer with the philadelphia opera company; wrote an off broadway musical titled 'Just a pill'. Is now 71, beautiful and still sings at events around philadelphia.
BEST part of the whole video, hands down! LOL! I have watched it several times, knowing what's coming, and I'm still laughing with John and the rest. SOO dang cute! ! John looks like a giggly 12 yr old . 😄
I bet she's an excellent dancer, and very fit. Wouldn't it be cool if she combined Judo with dancing, and threw her opponent/partner elegantly around the room? I would LOVE to see that!
If she had came in during the mystery guest.. everyone in the place would've screamed.. the resemblance is astounding and shes hotter than Georgia asphalt in the summertime..what a dish!
I love her. You can tell she is a smart lady. But what I like about her is she is a bombshell yet she can actually break your bones if you try to take advantage of her.
this show is so ever fantastic-- luv all the manners of social media and courtesy of just being ''polite'' in any way>>>>> and then not!!! lol---- what class they truly all had... miss them---- AND what ever happened to Tony West??? anyone??
No She is not in a retirement home. She still is beautiful not a wrinkle in her face. She is 72 years old and wanted to go back into the entertainment business but she did not get a job because she did not know how to use the computer. She has a beautiful voice. She is a great person to know. She is a positive person with lots of energy.
She was not born in 1940. This aired in 1957. If she were 72 in the year 2012 that would make her 78-79 in the year 2019. Your comment is from 2012-13.
I need to know more about Ms. West. She seems like she had such an interesting life. That beautiful and a judo instructor in that time period?!? It takes a girl with a certain moxie, love it.
Just a few years ago, one of the MeTV channels were airing these old black and white game shows at odd ball hours. (Now they don't.) While watching this episode late at night, and this "vision" came on the screen, I almost fell on the floor. Very glad I just happened upon this post. Wish her the best. ThanQ ! PS, I love the old episodes of "What's My Line" that had the legendary Fred Allen as one of the panelists.
What a beautiful woman. She doesn't look dated like the TV show she's appearing on, take her out of this setting and place her now in the 21st century Miss West would fit right in.
Another great example of the gorgeous ladies of the 1950's and 60's. Yes, their facial expressions were cultivated and practiced, but IMHO they were much more appealing than all the pierced and tattooed women walking around today.
What was the program director thinking??? Everyone was waiting to see Miss West walk off and greet each panelist on her way out and the camera stayed on John Daly until Miss West was almost off stage!!!
Yes Toni here is more gorgeous than Arlene and Dorothy, but I still love Arlene and Dorothy! Are far as Toni being smarter, there's not enough time to make a judgment call on that during this episode.
What an interesting profession some of these people had. A beautiful girl who can fight to boot. But she stayed in shape and didn’t take no shit all her life
