What a life Tony has had. Pioneer of British radio. Met him twice when in his heyday late 67 and early 70s. Genuine guy

Tony is one of the all time greats. Had the pleasure of sitting next to him at the British Rock and Pop Awards 1978 (held bizarrely in 1979) which I won on Radio 1. He was friendly, generous and funny and took me and my mate on a tour of Egton House. We were half cut from the generous lunch at the Cafe Royale but it was fascinating. We were in awe of Tony and the other famous faces as a couple of unworldly 20 odd year old's from Warrington.

Great to hear our leader reminisce about his Radio London Soul Show in the 80’s and the Soul Night Outs. Him, Steve Walsh and Dave Pearce were the soundtrack to my youth. Great interview. So pleased I found it.💪

Wow! caught up with this at last. Two real radio guys chewing the cud. Ive loved radio all my life and now that I'm a dinosaur I'm actually on a local community station. Anyway .... thank you Alex and thank you Tony for opening up and being so honest about how radio was, is, and should be, going forward. Brilliant stuff!

The memories of Tony are for me are in a novel running through my mind every day, I am an entertainer and use the dreadfully funny jokes he tells from the public and they make people fall about so !, thank you Tony and thank you to the public. He and all he does is timeless we love him !.

Wonderful interview, Tony is a total Gent. Many years ago, I had a MRI scan for my bad back, very painful having to lay still for 45 minutes, ‘Pick of the Pops’ was played in the scanner, so Tony & his show helped a great deal to get me through that, Top Bloke.

Used to listen to Tony on pirate Big L Radio London on my transistor radio as a child. He instilled in me at that young age a great love for the medium. So funny and radically different from anyone else on air at the time. Pursued a career for a while in BBC radio myself as a result of his inspiration and, working my way up through BBC Radio London (amongst many other stations), was a technician on one of the Soul Night Out programmes Tony mentioned. Never got a chance to say a quick Hi to my childhood hero because he was so busy and surrounded by everybody. Went on to do a fair bit of BBC music radio presenting myself for around 7 years and, whilst I was enjoying it, it was the best thing ever (for me at any rate!). Tony is an unique presenter who blazed a trail in those early days for a totally different style of radio which was an important part of the development of numerous British radio stars in the following decades. Really enjoyed Alex's interview which brought back many cherished memories of Tony's shows. In broadcasting terms Tony is a living radio legend, a close friend to his many listeners who have lived their parallel lives alongside his, and may he continue to grace our airwaves with his warmth and humour for many more years to come

I love all Tony's shows. Genuine man, tells it as is. Why is his kmfm Sunday show no longer on does anybody know??

I loved Tony's shows (soul) on London ; plus he def did the Top 40 justice.
