Blair's valedictory at the Labour Party conference in 2006 just as he steps down as British Prime Minister.
Regardless of any differences in politics between you and him, unlike anybody since, this is the ultimate example of a geniune political leader who took ownership of his party and the issues of his time while seeking to resolve every single one of them - not insignificant.

Tony Blair said in this secition of the speech that there was only one Labour tradition that he hated - and that was the tradition of losing. Well, the Labour stalwarts managed to force him out, and sure enough, they have embraced that tradition again. And it's a fair bet that they will continue with their much-loved tradition in 2015.

If there was one piece of Tony Blair's speach that resonates with me and is very relevant to today is about a Energy secure policy and if we do not do something about that then we will be relying on expensive imported energy sources, Ref to the time count of this video 6:45 Re T Blair's part of his speech (4 of 4). Just look at you Gas/Elec winter bill and see if you agree people of the UK.

Fair point. But, if you read the history books, Churchill was in the right place at the right time - he was definitely the man to lead us through WWII and we could not have done it without him. Churchill, though, was not the man to build the peace after 1945. The UK electorate told him so at the ballot box.

Great speech Tony Blair, a top tier British leader, no mean feat ten years in our UK western liberal democracy! No mean feat either in cutting all hydrocarbon coal inputs with record renewables output from wind, solar and a new nuclear design for a large facility and small modular nuclear reactors. In 2007, thankfully sage advice from PM Tony Blair, he puts our energy policy first. Just this puts us in good stead right now! Just that it is 2023, we now get record renewables! A Salient fact : cessation of coal inputs for the first time since before the industrial revolution began and since before WW1 when we were the world's largest consumer and producer of coal! What an achievement!!!! Despite Brexit too , we remain a great Western liberal democracy and an astute sigma nation to boot. Only who says Western liberal democracies can't do multi-decade planning for our mutual future security and prosperity? Only in 2023 we British offer energy solutions, not energy as weaponry against a neighbour(Ukraine) ,or indeed thankfully still our friends on the continent the EU. My point being is to say thatTony Blair need not worry, we share what is important to us both in the UK with our friends in Europe. The world's largest renewables grid for our collective energy security and a storage of strategic reserves for each country, thus enabling power to economic growth in our economies. A linking of the Baltic with the North sea and the Mediterranean. Only by acting together we will be able to deal decisively with the climate crisis and also meet netzero carbon . Last and not least, enabling a growth faster than debt and a preservation of our democracies and values well in the 21st century and beyond!!!

Well, there was a famous essay done a few years ago which proved Churchill was an opportunist and reckless at that. Look at his conduct during the Boer War, his ill advised campaign in the Dardenelles which ended in abject failure, then came the Bolsheviks in Russia (just after the First World War), then came Hitler, then came Stalin. Churchill, for - all his good attributes during the Second World War, was a 'chance man'.................... right time right place... a very lucky man....

You're trying to say Blair, unlike Churchill (who was voted in again in 1951 may I add..), was a man to build peace..? - can't entirely say I agree with you there in light of the Iraq and Afghan wars.. Churchill prevented certain destruction and enabled peace across Europe. If that's not an example of "peace building" I don't know what is..

Peace building??? Not really sure about that one. Please don't forget that Churchill, as a member of Baldwin's Cabinet in 1926, wanted to bring the troops in to shoot striking union members during the General Strike. Baldwin, for all his faults, had the good sense to stop him. That said, I do agree with your point about Blair with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan. That is why I, and thousands of others did not vote for his party in 2010. By the way, 1951 more people voted for Attlee than Churchill

equal right for both woman and men, which ariving cultures dont agree with, respect for our armed forces who have defended this country and you!, tolerence and freedom of speech. We have traditional christian values which are being destroyed everyday - wether you mind or not it should be open for debate. People should have a choice you have yours and i have mine and thats fine - thats what democracy is - not everyone is going to agree, its impossible.

@valarmanwe everyone receives a child benefit called a family allowance. if your child is in full time education working or not you get this.. people on the dole dont get more child benfit unless they are a single parent. If you come from a poor family you receive free school meals aswell as yr parents receive this benefit which is meant to be used to feed you out of school. Blair did this! In the 1980's before Blair children would starve ever heard of the term Margaret Thatcher, Milk Snatcher.
