Tony Curtis came to Baltimore's Lyric Theatre to appear in a musical version of Some Like it Hot as the Joey Brown character. After the play, Tony Curtis graciously came out of the theatre and took the time to take pictures with us. He even put his arm over my shoulder as my photo with him was taken. The warmth and humanity that he displayed was amazing. Thank you Mr. Curtis. You gave me an unforgettable experience. Your gesture meant alot. I am so sorry that he is gone. AL
Amazing!!! One of the best celebrity interviews I have ever seen. Tony Curtis is so open and honest and the interviewer was knowledgeable and respectful. I could have listened to Tony's stories for hours. Thanks for posting this!
Excellent interview. Intelligent questions get intelligent answers, Ernie Manouse should be on world wide cable. Tony Curtis enjoyed his fame, his celebrity, his craft and was a breath of fresh air and let's not forget a very good actor Defiant Ones: Some Like It Hot: Sweet a Smell Of Success: Spartacus : Houdini - what a legacy
That was extraordinary! Such excellent insight that Mr. Curtis brought to this interview!! One of the last true Hollywood legends!!! What a class act!!!
Michael Smith He lied a lot. In all other interviews that involved the fabulous MM, all he does is bash the woman 24/7. Jack Lemmon was a gentleman he never uttered one bad word against MM, ever but this douche sure did. He and his first wife, Janet Leigh, even said he was like that. He had it all set up fooling around on this beauty. He divorced her to marry this young gal who at the young age of 17 had his baby, Christine something. He took the child away from her, claiming she was a unfit mother, which she was not. Now he does the nightly tour, again bashing MM and all the other women he has slept with. He could not have been great in be no-one of those women stayed with him. Nice wig Tony!
'I won't do it, J.J., I won't get Kelo for you. Not if you gave me season tickets to the polo grounds, not if you served me Cleopatra on a plate, not if you gave me your column..' 'And just who do you think is going to write my column when I'm gone, the man in the moon? Don't jump off the gang plank, Sidney, you may want to get back on board.'
That was so good I wanted it to go on.. Tony Curtis is so interesting and inspiring.. Love his stories about parts of his life.. The person doing the interviewer was pretty good to.
Tony Curtis was born Bernard Schwsrtz & his family came to US from Matezsalka, Hungary. He donated funds to rebuild the destroyed Synagogue there in Matezsalka... greatly appreciated & admired
Tony Curtis is well loved and so good on talk shows, so interesting! I started to watch one blog and I am in my second day looking for all he says. Because he tells it like it is. You are well loved in Canada Tony.
i remember him as a young actor and how great he was but now i understand how he tried to tell us about his life through his eyes, but we all should remember he was very old here and, making fun of how he looked or his hair was such a bad wig.what makes anyone think we will look any better if we make it to the age.he was.when he made this,he just wanted one last time in front of the camera, making fun of him, knowing he's dead now is just plain mean,i never came across a man as good looking as he was in his young life,
IAN PAYNE He was born in 1925, this was done in 2009, which would have made him 84 years old! Also, that’s not a wig, it’s implanted hair, & he looks great for his age
He looks great for almost 80 and still sharp. The negative and sophomoric comments about his looks speak volumes about you and how you pale in comparison. Sad really.
@Moth’s Mummy It must have been his lifestyle that makes him look older than 80 to you as he was actually 79 here. This was filmed in 2005 before Ton'ys 80th birthday that year.
One movie I've seen many times is Winchester 73, staring James Stewart. In the movie, I recognized Tony Curtis and Rock Hudson. Why weren't their names in the credits?
One of Tony's better interviews. Seems he was relaxed and able to put his ego aside so that his answers are more honest/real. In some interviews, where I suspect he was nervous, he comes across as a total jerk.
Sadly Curtis rewrote his will only 4 months before his death leaving everything to his last wife and leaving nothing to his children, who were originally in his will. Many including his kids (exception of Jamie Lee Curtis) believe his final wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis pressured Curtis to rewrite his will in his final few months while sick at home suffering from Chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD).
@kiranjit rana Of course you personally had no stake in this, but I'm sure if your mother or father rewrote their will in their final months leaving you completely out of it and leaving everything to your stepmother/father, you'd be upset too.
I don't know why Curtis questioned his motives as to why he married at a young age. He knew exactly why he married young; he talked about it in his autobiography. He said Janet Leigh was an already established star. In an attempt to gain more publicity and exposure, he hooked up with Janet. He claimed they were Hollywood's first "power-couple." He said he thought their relationship was a mutually beneficial arrangement. I guess he was too ashamed to admit his duplicitous thought process during this interview.
What does the word "gardarum" mean? Tony Curtis was an aticulate man (he was here at the age of 80) with an impressive vocabulary but that word stumped me. I think it may be Yiddish. Any ideas?
It's interesting that Mr Curtis picked up on kirk douglas's nervousness. Douglas was probably terrified that at any minute some cop was going to run up behind him and slam his rapist ass to the ground and place him under arrest.
@@waynej2608 I think that could have been a cover story circulated for some other reason but Douglas was implicated in the Black Dahlia case. A woman was found murdered and cut in half. Had Kirk Douglas name in her purse or something.
I have never been hurt by a man. My comment comes from listening to him talk and bashing women. He called Marilyn a slut, which I do not appreciate. "Oh she was so hard to work with on Some Like it Hot" The woman was pregnant I believe. Oh yeah great actor with his Brooklyn actor. Look at his face, plastic surgery all the way.
Chloe wilson agreed on all counts. LOL but to be honest, i don't get how him saying "she was hard to work with" translates into him calling her slut. An actor being difficult to work with (or actress as the case may be) can mean them being picky, bitchy, aloof, etc. and not so much slutty. LOL
I agree with you however, he did say that about her. Walking around the MGM. a nobody with a see thru blouse, showing her wares, what type of woman does that make her? Funny she is still alive today, everyone remembers the beautiful Marilyn but not so much Tony. Have a good day.
