-AK- So it’s definitely worth buying? I haven’t played since Project 8 and head THPS5 was a poor release. Also, I saw the secret skaters, as far as characters from other games, movies, etc aren’t that interesting like skaters from the past... fill me in.

Many people hated "Tony Hawk's Proving Ground" because of the colors, the environment and the feel of it. I think it's a great game.

Awesome that you think that, it's actually the basis of what I wanted the show to be "a history lesson with some jokes thrown in" so cheers for that! I hope I'm a cool enough teacher. I'd honestly prefer PS2 because the nostalgia, level select, sound differences, goal differences. But the ps3 version suprised me when i found out it existed

​@@SquareEyedJak My first Tony Hawk game I played was Tony Hawk Underground 2 with my friend who owned it. The first game I owned was Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. I thought Tony Hawk's American Wasteland deserved a 6/10, but I can see why you don't like it. I didn't mind Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, but here's where it gets interesting as to why I didn't mind playing it. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 debuted in October of 2015 for PS4 and Xbox ONE. However, the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 debuted in December of 2015. So, this means that most of the kinks and glitches of the 8th Gen original version have been ironed out and happen less frequently on the 7th Gen port. There were no DLC maps for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 for PS3 and Xbox 360, but it runs smoother, doesn't require online to play, and is fun. It's still not a perfect game as it's inferior to Tony Hawk's American Wasteland and Tony Hawk Proving Ground, but this is why I give Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 (7th Gen version) a 5/10. It deserved a 3/10 on 8th Gen seeing as it was broken on release, but the more polished 7th Gen port of THPS 5 is something I can at least recommend renting for a week.

He was playing up to the camera, we actually sound identical in everyday conversation. I think the alcohol we gave him before the shoot roughened his voice up just right! ;)

Probably because other games, like Tony Hawk's American Wasteland are identical across both versions. Same for the likes of GUN, Guitar Hero (I just realized, these are all Neversoft made, Activision published xD) but you get the idea!

@@SquareEyedJak oh man I'd recommend ssx tricky and ssx 3. Those and Tony hawk were my go too sport games.

Have played both of those, own them along with the original but haven't played enough to really say I've played them.

Even motion had girl options!

I feel like they didn't include a "girl" option in this game's CAS, just like they did in some of their other games, solely because of the story drive. It probably already took a lot of effort to dub the main character during all of his appearances in a male voice, so remaking the entire dub work to allow female created skaters was just not gonna be worth it when balancing between effort and funds and actual benefits, so they scrapped that. Not to mention the story contains your character getting beaten up, and I don't know how would some of the audience feel about seeing a woman being beaten up (I mean, you can still skate-check women yourself if you want to, but that's up to the player, not to the story the developers made). The biggest pro in TH games without a storyline (or at least without one that required your character to be male for several reasons), is being able to freely make female skaters too, because that won't impact anything at all game-wise.

​@@feder28 THUG and THUG 2 had a story, and THAW (while having a bigger one again) has a girl option, but it isn't playable in the career. There is a few girl characters that you can edit in the game, but still.

@@kaboomgamer333 THUG and THUG2 were the only games in the franchise where a female voiceover is played during a story mode in case you make a female character. Every single other game in the series had no story at all, or one not involving particularly your main character, so adding a "girl" option to CAS was no big issue. Proving Ground was probably designed to have the player going through the story and the scenes from the point of view of a male character, maybe because they had to cut on a female dubbing due to shortage of funds, which they might have had more to work with during the development of THUG and THUG2, or in order not to have people shaking their heads seeing a girl involved into violence from others, for how not as extreme as in 18+ games. Anyways if the game came out with any sort of free skate I'm pretty sure that a "girl" option inside of the CAS system would have been present, because without any sort of objective or storyline progression it wouldn't have mattered. But story mode being the only one, they planned you to play as a male only.

Absolutely agree. I think the concept of average Joe becomes pro skater overnight story line, was growing kind of tired. But that's really the only area Neversoft seemed tired with these games.

All games were dark and desaturated at the time and GTA IV shouldn't get a pass purely because the story is dark (wasn't even that depressing in my opinion) but I do understand what you're saying. Again, I would have to agree story wise isn't as good as THUG but the missions have SO much more value to them. THUG had a load of really short missions with various vehicles thrown in for the sake of it. Proving Ground added in new mechanics (good or bad) and focused on them, exploring them as much as possible. Still not as good as THUG but I still think it's very good.
