Tony Jaa did everything without steel ropes so he is a stunt man as well. He is young so has a lot of strength and jump higher. Coz the movie was made without much cuts so he has to control the punch and therefore decrease the speed. So his move seems quite slow in the movie compare to Jet li's one. And all those turns, flips are for the movie as well and he did gymnastic that's why.
well, tony jaa was inspired by jackie chan, so there may be some reminence of jacky in his style, he would go watch jackie chan movies when movies would play at the villiage fair, then practice moves in the woods, and off elephants.. He's like jackie casue he does is own stunts and jumps around, but hands down he's got better hops, and he actually brutaly hits opponents Jackie would just run around, hit them and "oh solly"...which was more comedy...he's cool but I like brutallity more.
I've seen the making of some of those scenes on Entertainment Tonight (I think), and it showed how Tony Jaa does his scenes in real time, rather than others who do it all slowly then speed it up on the film. Thus why his fighting is at a more realistic speed (and also why they look abit fake at times). And Jaa does alot of stunts without wires, which is why he's so popular these days.
Yes Tony Jaa is a fantastic martial artist, as well as Jackie Chan and Jet Li. However, none of them are at the level of skill, power, speed, and physical and mental perfection that was Bruce Lee. He is a legend for a reason. Read all the literature about him. Watch all of his movies. Watch all of the documentaries about him. He was an incredible man.
Well here ya's go... he said he was honoured to be compaired to Jet li and Jackie Chan... And that he was a more aerobatic fighter (which i think u'll all agree) but he couldnt take Jet li and certenly not Jackie in a straight up 1v1.... thats what he said...
jet li wouldn't own him at his age... u must be crazy!! tony would do those elbows, knees and video games style move on jet li to make him look like a little doll!
he is a excelllent artist, but you cant compare him with jet li or jackie chan, they did gongfu and chinese martial arts techniques, tony jaa is muay thai fighter, totaly different. and jawk321 is right nobody is as good as bruce lee was, bruce revolutionized the martial art scene, so dont talk shit
now in fairness his shit looks damn kool... but i kinda agree with what he says... think bout it... he dont have the straight up speed or power of Jet li or Jackie Chan and def not the expeirence on Jackie what ever bout jet li
XD The man has insane hangtime and has the most aesthetically pleasing kick styles, but the problem is everything else is kinda meh ish. His fight scenes are too "Forward"ish while guys like Jet Li and Jackie Chan are able to have more spatial fight scenes. >_> Also this guy has too big of an obsession with his elbows.
