Punk was abandoned by jungle boy's group in England before the show. He was shit talked on national television. He was then told to do something about it, right in front of his goof of a boss. All because CM Punk did what he promised in his debut promo: Offer veteran advice and mentorship to the youngsters in the back. What did he get in return? Jack Perry throwing a toddler tantrum over Punk advising him of the unnecessary danger of using real glass in a wrestling spot instead of fake. Followed by Jack performing the stunt with said real glass and openly mocking Punk on live television. Finally, Jack Perry mouthing off to Punk when Punk took offense, leading to the "brawl". When Punk spat out "I'm hurt and I'm old and I'm fucking tired and I work with fucking children!", he really meant it as this whole incident proves.

In one minute, Tony Khan managed to: 1) prove that Punk was telling the truth of his run-in with Perry 2) destroy all of Perry’s credibility and get fans to chant “You got choked out!” 3) earn the ridicule of fans and people in the industry and make his company look second-rate 4) make himself look like a wimp who is scared of what was essentially a small tussle All for a ratings bump that will disappear next week. @@maggielusk6833 He's getting paid for some of the most useless commentary in the history of the business - and for asking one generic question in the interviews-that-aren't-interviews before the wrestlers take the mike away from him and do their normal solo promo, while he stands around looking like an idiot who just pissed himself in public. Every goddamn week! Schiavone was always the shits on commentary (especially in later WCW), but he used to be a good interviewer and announcer in the 1980s. There's a reason why he only lasted one year in the WWF, between JCP and WCW. He couldn't hang with Ventura, Monsoon, Heenan, Hayes on commentary. There's a reason why he never worked for the WWF/WWE again after WCW's collapse. They even told him - in no uncertain terms - to not contact the WWE offices for a job anymore. There's also a reason why Bobby Heenan hated his guts in WCW. But that was for behind-the-scenes stuff that affected the on-air product and the workplace climate negatively. I don't think Schiavone ever got over the fact that the Turner brass chose Bischoff over him, when they both applied for the position with written concepts. Gene Okerlund confirmed in interviews that Schiavone actively sabotaged Heenan and other commentators/announcers in WCW. AEW has no concept of how to do in-ring interviews. The interviewer should never give up the mike, unless it's a rare exception to give a heel unusual heat, by demonstrating utter disrespect. Nobody EVER took the mike away from people like Gene Okerlund or Lance Russell, unless it was for an extraordinary reason. If you want a solo or double promo, let the wrestlers come out by themselves with a mike. An interview is not a promo, the interviewer controls and moderates the situation 99% of the time - and when they can't, it MEANS SOMETHING. These two settings/scenarios (with or without an interviewer) exist for a reason. They serve similar but different purposes. A solo promo is just a wild guy talking and bragging, a double promo is two guys yelling, insulting, and threatening each other. It's on the show, but it could be in the parking lot or in the hotel bar, just as well. An interview is "official", the interviewees doesn't get to (kayfabe) say what they want, how they want, for however long they want, there are rules, set by the promotion and the TV network. If they go over the line, the interviewer lays down the law. If they do it again, the interviewer cuts them off by ending the interview. If it gets violent, the promotion imposes sanctions on them - or punishes them with harsh match stipulations. All of this crap used to mean something and was understood by a huge mainstream audience, without even knowing it.

What top guy, in any wrestling company, wouldn’t have confronted a bottom of the card wrestler who just basically called him a cry baby, on live TV unscripted, in any era? There was nothing wrong with Punk confronting him after what he did. It was a prick move and wouldn’t have flied in any company. It’s crazy people are acting like their hero’s wouldn’t have acted in the same way or worse. Hogan, Flair, Dusty, Austin, savage, Rock. Hogan wouldn’t have been fired because the HonkyTonk Man went into business for himself and hogan punched him, Austin for Xpac or Rock for Billy Gunn etc. The only one being irresponsible was jungle boy and if Tony actually cared about making money he would’ve seen that. Evident by the obvious hit the company took after Punk was let go. Even if they rebound soon the company clearly fell a little and to ignore that instead of learning from it just means tony might make the same mistakes again.

All opinions are given with a calm state of mind, no pressure. Not defending punk but you can’t act like problems don’t boil over and people act out. Yes they should be held to a higher standard. That’s why Punk said there is no boss. Once the teacher fails to pull kids apart they will fight. Its not rocket science

Bingo. That is the core problem in AEW. The culture. There’s no leadership, no structure, and apparently no goals. It’s not about making money and selling tickets and getting fans into the buildings. It’s about that Meltzer indy workrate horsecrap with no build or storylines which does nothing to make money.

Jack Perry disrespected their biggest star by shit talking him on dirt sheets (how else would the original story get out) and on TV/PPV that saw the pre-show then to his face challenging him to do something about it. How many times are you going to let someone like Jack Perry disrespect you before you confront them like Punk did? The fuck is the matter with you people. Yeah Punk didn't need to do what he did but I get it, also Tony did nothing about any of it. When your boss won't do anything, makes it seem like he condones that behavior.

By releasing the footage, they basically spat in the face of Adam Copeland. One week earlier he was in the ring talking about ending all the negativity and tribalism and focus on wrestling. One week later Kahn and the bucks focused on the negativity by releasing that footage. Adam was trying to be the veteran locker room leader but the kids from camp Kahn didn't want that.

Are you seriously going to try to pretend that Perry was being this innocent bystander backstage? Look at how he acts now, what in the hell makes you think he wouldn't have tried to get into Punk's face? After all, he had the gall to disrespect Punk on live PPV. You act like Punk just randomly decided to walk up to start shit with Perry. He was disrespected, what did you think was going to happen? If Perry didn't want to have a confrontation with Punk, why didn't he just walk away? Nobody was forcing him to stay there, and if Punk tried to go after him, that just puts Punk in a bad light. Also I have to point this out once again, you're so big on someone having to be fired for putting their hands on a co-worker, yet you never advocated for Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, or Andrade to be fired from AEW for their backstage incidents. Eddie literally put his hands on someone (I think Sammy) for calling him 'fat' during a promo. So all of that is fine, but Punk defending himself from being disrespected is not fine. Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, and it sounds like a double standard.

I noticed that one of the biggest talking points is STILL whether or not Punk should have been fired or if he was “in the right”. Guys, he didn’t want to be there anymore and didn’t trust his boss and a sizable chunk of his coworkers. What Jack did was just the final straw and he did what he did basically as an excuse to quit/get fired. It’s not hard to figure out. He didn’t want to be there anymore anyway.
@Jeff_Pryce
@Jeff_Pryce 5 месяцев назад
I think he was probably trying to talk himself into staying to get the rest of that money. But more things kept happening and his patience started wearing thinner. When Tony didn’t step in to discipline Perry at All In, that was the final straw for Punk. You can only go to management so many times for help and get turned down before you finally say, “The hell with this place, I’m outta here.”

CM Punk & Jack Perry may have acted like toddlers, but I place most of the blame on TK. He can’t control his wrestlers, he rather be everyone’s friend instead of a boss & he ended up humiliating his own company , because he wanted to bring up this old situation as a way to get a cheap rating pop, like he’s Vince McMahon in the late 2010s. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Joe for the upstanding immediate action in breaking the fight up, Drew for the abundance of raw meme material he now has over Punk (I'm sure he was kicking his Scottish feet up in the air watching that video), and Hook for being turned into a meme online for doing biting but being shocked, looking back and forth

Not saying he’s right in shoving but we also don’t know what was said. Will is soft n only justified Hunter’s comments with his reaction. Hunter was talking about many guys, not just Will. He was also sending a messages to those out there seeking opportunities n he’s absolutely right. Will is soft baby with that reaction n retort from 2001 that has no reason behind it.
