@@scsutton1No, it wasn't re-allowed (also the intial "yes" was from Monaco government). They did want to film film at that year's Historic GP event at Monaco held two weeks prior to the F1 GP but when they couldn't it was re-created at a studio backyard, with a couple of turns and a straight, greenscreens and replica 70s cars.

I think the most unrealistic part of this entire scene is the fact when the lasers split the Ferrari, there were no Stewart’s putting any flags out. Other than that, I don’t see any other things.

Actually his being there is quite legit, it is Monaco Historique race where they are driving 1976 formulas, he is driving Stark Industries car which probably was an F1 team owned by his dad back in the 70s in this universe - that is more than plausible, and him, a billionaire and knowing what kind of guy he is, wanting to drive iconic car which was owned by his company and which he saw racing in the middle of 70s when he was a kid, is just logical... and in historic race you do not need to be a pro to ride

I really have no idea, because they look like 70s cars, but they’ve got completely modern paint schemes. In addition to that, those cars used manual H-pattern gearboxes with round steering wheels, meaning you’d have to take your hand off the wheel to shift up or down. When Tony is coming out of the tunnel, we hear the car upshift, but his hand never leaves the wheel. And the steering wheel itself appears to be shaped like a modern car’s wheel. I guess it could just be another case of Hollywood misrepresenting things they don’t understand.
