I helped build Smoke’s engines when he was racing in NASCAR, they were running Hendrick engines. He treated us all to a steak dinner at the shop after he won the championship and hung out all afternoon with us in the engine shop and signed hats for us. Best of luck Tony.
This was my first National event I had ever attended. Seeing him make this run and get his first round win was amazing. Long live Smoke in the world of Drag Racing! Haha
Welcome Tony Stewart, great debut, all the luck to you Tony on your next adventure. Wishing you and Lea and your team the best of luck. Will be looking for you in the "Winners Circle" soon. Go "SMOKE"
@@Richard-yk3cf Your ignorance is of titanic proportions. Kevin Ward Jr caused his own death, PUTZ. The truth/facts don't lie. Go argue your opinions with the NY state grand jury and the medical examiner reports.
@@sergeantmasson3669 the only reason he didn't get convicted is because they couldn't prove intent. How do you PROVE intent from a video? You're confusing legal definition of intent from a common sense definition. Common Sense tells you that if Tony can't see a guy standing in the middle of a racetrack, at caution speed, then he should have never been driving in the first place. Common Sense tells me that Tony has shown his temper many times before and this was no different. Seems kind of funny how none of the other drivers hit him but the one guy that would have had intent is the one that hit him??
Tony will drive anything with wheels. It's great to see him taking on a new challenge and I'm sure he will be successful in his new quest as he has been in his previous ventures. We could see him in Top Fuel in the near future. God bless you Tony. That 5.21 @ 276 mph pass was awesome.
That's just it, he doesn't just do it to do it. He puts his all in and is successful at any and all forms of racing, so far anyway. I have no reason to think he won't be successul at drag racing though it is a whole different world.
To run in the 5.20's on your first official NHRA pass, is awesome! The first type of race car ever got to work on (doing clutch) was on injected nitro cars (A/Fuel).. it is such a great class and fun class! I just think it's awesome the way he is doing is the right way and when people said the NHRA won't listen, I think Tony (and Camping World) being a part of the sport will change that, lol.. he genuinely cares about the history and doing everything right w/ any sport! The camaraderie and everything thwt goes into it is just like nothing else on earth (or at least in motorsports)
Class act from a very classy guy!!! Anything with wheels can be tamed by Tony! Great new weekend hobby where the only drama is you and the track. Go Smoke
I am more excited for this than anything in a long time. Tony was born a competitor and will bring new fans in. I can't wait to see how this goes for next season.
We used to race in the AHRA (created after NHRA banned nitro in the late 50's) Anyway they raced EVERYTHING on a pro tree, including sportsman and bracket racing. Their little tree was different. Really short, just pre-stage, stage, then a single amber, green, red. We didn't have reaction timers yet (late 70's) but you learned real quick being slower than the other guy, and the first to leave the starting line, had it's advantages. It was nerve wracking though!
