When I was a kid in the 90's, when The Little Mermaid came out, I remember vividly a conversation I had with my grandma. She didn't act like it was anything extraordinary and because I was a kid It didn't occur to me exactly how unusual this story was, but i never forgot it nonetheless. She told me that when my grandpa (who died when I was 2) had gone overseas to fight in WW2, that they saw actual mermaids. If course I had a multiple questions...like did they all have red hair like Ariel and such...and she said absolutely not. That Ariel was not an accurate portrayal of an actual mermaid. According to what my grandpa told her these mermaids were hideous. They were people sized and had the upper body shaped more like a human than a fish but had fish tails and he said they had faces like fish and long tangled stringy brown and greenish colored hair that looked like snarled seaweed. They would apparently lay up on rocks that jutted out of the ocean (for some reason I think she said near the rock of Gibraltar but i could just have my many Easter memories watching Charleton Heston's the ten commandments mixed in lol). Anyway, these mermaids were shocking to my grandpa initially because we don't have shit like that here in west ky lol and he asked some other military person about it and they told him they were mermaids and to ignore them. Do not let them on the boat, don't feed them or engage in any way. He also said the mermaids would reach out at them as they passed by and would toss their heads back and scream as loud as they could. Idk. The man was quite the serious fellow. Fought on Normandy Beach, was awarded the purple heart, survived by pulling the dead body of the German that shot him on top of him before passing out from blood loss. Nearly lost his arm but never went home, went right back to the battle. Didn't meet his first born child until she was 4 when he came home from the war, went on to raise 8 kids that all turned out well and was the president of the United steelworkers union in Chicago until retirement. He never spoke about the war or his time overseas to anyone except to tell my grandma random experiences like this one. I don't see why he would've conjured up such a story out of nowhere. Take it or leave it, just thought I would share.
@@ryantoussaint7873 thanks mate. It’s crazy how many ppl don’t. I wernt raised in no church. God gave me a pair of eyes that can see and I know what I saw. It’s kinda messed me up abit cos it’s hard reading the bible but I know what I saw 👀
I'm from Seychelles. There was a dead one found on one of the beaches around 2010 area. They closed off the beach. Hotel. It was reported on local news but you cannot find any articles about it on the internet. . Just sayin.
Ya, I remember that. it was actually in August 2006. Some fishermen caught a dead mermaid in a net. They had a picture of it in the people's ( SPPF ) nation. I tried to find the story online but can't find it too. It they might have it in an news archive somewhere. It was big news back then
I did a deep search on what yall are talking about and of course found nothing. Do yall remember what the article said or a photo of how it looked. Just interesting to hear
@@isaacjacobs3785 Is it not arrogant, to assume you know the complete nature of reality? Who knows if these things exist? You can't rule it out just because it 'sounds wild'. We live on a spinning rock, with a shield around it, to protect from radiation.

I just got back from Seychelles. I didn't see any mermaids but I'm going to be honest with you... if there are mermaids on this planet, that's where they'll be. It's a weird magical kind of place.
My parents told us when they were young in Puerto Rico he saw a mermaid in the water sitting on a rock...many people in Puerto Rico have seen this... You have to know that everything thats libing on land is exactly the same in the ocean... Just like sea bugs like crabs, lobsters and shrimp is the same as the land bugs like ticks, scorpions and roaches... The difference is that everything in the sea grows bigger. Even mammals.
is that so? grizzly. elk. mountain sheep. eagle. monkey. tiger. zebra. people see a manatee and think it's a mermaid. people see a sea lion resting on a rock, and they think it's a mermaid.
@@bonecollector1968 no, there's not, you are correct. Because mer-people don't exist. The tale originated from sailors seeing manatee for the first time, and thinking the were humanoid.
@@zzz7zzz9 so you not only selfishly made a time machine you use to prove people's internet points wrong, but you also did a proper sociological study on sailors and their mythological sightings while visiting the past?
@@zzz7zzz9 Sailors know the difference between manatees and a humanoid. Christopher Columbus was very adamant what they say were humanoid creatures in the water off the coast of Haiti. And in our culture, la siren (mermaids) are known.
My father’s grandfather was a fisherman in the Gulf of Mexico in the early and mid 1900s. He swore he saw mermaids. When my dad would say, “Come on, Grandpa. Mermaids aren’t real,” he would get furious at my dad.
This is what happens when someone is high in the Seychelles, and encounters someone swimming with one of those mermaid tales you get in the store.. to a person who has never seen one before, and is willing to believe that mermaids can exist, lol.
Im not special by any means, but had the opportunity to participate in coral reef marine research in Seychelles for many months on end. Scuba diving and documenting coral species 3 times a day, 5 days a week. If by chance such a creature exists, it would be in Seychelles. If you have never been there you wouldn't understand. But if you have seen the world underwater that exists, you may believe too.
@@kaleighcook2057It is something you have to see to believe, words aren't doing justice to the place. It's really a weird place, unlike anything you ever saw.
My mom worked in Goma, DRC for a humanitarian organization so I spent my holidays there at a resort called Hotel Karibu, fishermen who seemed to me as very rational and stable individuals all swore they saw humanoid creatures with fins in Lake Kivu, they had absolutely no reason to lie about this as they weren't seeking any recognition for it. Never saw one myself but there is probably an undiscovered species of mammalian origin that lives in the water that looks like us.
Someone else on here had a grandpa who was in the war (and he only told his wife, the grandmother, the things he saw when he went to war). He said he saw these mermaid-like creatures when they were overseas deployed. Crazy how many ppl are saying the same thing!
@@Hjjjjj254 it was a joke. But I don’t believe everything unexplainable should be labeled demon or evil. Because if you were to flip the perspective from human to animal we could be labeled that as well.
Tony “I saw a mermaid” Joe “what was their musculature? Did they know jujitsu?….I saw a video of a monkey riding a motorcycle smoking a cigarette that tried to abduct a child… it’s fucking crazy”
It’s very interesting that he said it’s in the Lagoons my Grandfather who was a man a very few words so when he spoke you knew to listen and he was not a story teller or a liar mentioned seeing a mermaid in a river in Cuba when he was a little boy. He was the oldest and the responsible one of his siblings he didn’t have time for an active imagination. I’m sure people will not believe and ridicule or make some sideways comment… but maybe it’s time people acknowledge that the world we live in is a lot more in depth than we were taught to believe… and we are taught to logic ourselves into stupidity, ignorance and density at times…
@@leon71wtf63 Sure we'll I've seen a woman go into trance and physical embody a male Yogi who passed away 100 years ago. He then through her materialized things which were warm. That's definitely the most bizarre I personally saw/experienced.
If there were giant carnivorous chicken monsters on land and sea (Dinosaurs) then I don't see why aquatic human variants couldn't exist either. I mean, "water of the womb," all life came from the ocean and most pregnancies have evolved from water birth or still utilize it. Not gonna sit here and suggest there is some giant conspiracy theory to hide human hybrids/variants. But if the Human history of killing almost everything (even ourselves) is fact, then it's not hard to believe dumber humans just murdered anything and everything "weird" that doesn't live in their settlement
Im from Africa, specifically Somalia and i 100% believe in mermaids. Infact just a few years ago my grandmother told me she saw a dried up fish person on the beach. She said it had long hair and was half person half fish. I asked her what she did to it and she told me she just went home about her business. Apparently she did not think it was anything significant. I was so disappointed to hear this. If it were me, i would take it and show it to the whole town. The entire world is debating about these things. Its time we stop debating and realize they are real intelligent beings who are doing their best to hide from humans. Apparently they know how destructive we can be but i have a feeling that they are worse.
If she did anything else to it bad luck would of happened. In jamaica when they see mermaids they're supposed to not tell anyone for days and keep quiet about it.
Just take a picture or video of it and leave it alone. Talking about mermaids are worse, have mermaids destroyed 3 thirds of the planet both land and sea, have mermaids done anything close to the evil humans have done. No they juts live in the waters and mind their business. Anywhere humans go they destroy and you are talking about mermaids are worse bfr.
My job sends my wife and I to the Seychelles island at least once a year the last 2 decades. We have seen some stuff in the water we agreed not to talk about ever a few times.
Tony: ..cause someone told me not to mention mermaids Joe: don't mention mermaids? TWO MINUTES LATER Joe: so who told you not to talk about mermaids? Tony: nobody told me not to talk about mermaids? Joe: who said that? Tony: I said that... 😂😂
Lmaooooo it’s a joke kinda in the community 🤣 where you say “somebody said” to reveal your own thoughts about something you know probably isn’t socially acceptable but is sort of humorous, or to actually recall something socially unacceptable someone said that was also humorous.
yep seals n manatees Columbus said he saw one and it was beautiful, but Columbus also had sex with a goat or sheep in at some point of his life, so he was a furry... His idea of beauty probably isn't ours lmao
Columbus had sex with a llama! Not sheep or goat, my bad. But he said did say he saw a mermaid on his voyage to the "new world" and said it was really beautiful

I am from colima mexico and the people in the coast use to see a being called "el gentil" come out of the water. It wasn't like a mermaid but a giant human with Caucasian features and long blonde hair. My grandmother and my grandfather saw it. Some people say he like to steal the watermelons and go back into the water. Idk if the stories are real or they're meant to keep the children away from the water at night. Regardless the legend is fascinating
I believe him, my godmother is from Africa when she used to watch me as a kid she would tell me stories about the mermaids taking people under in the water. She said they will come before the sun came out and the people of the village like to go early in the morning to get fresh water. You could not go to deep or they will drag you in
Haitians also have alot of mermaid/merman stuff to report and the warnings about not going to swim in certain places are not for scaring kids. Adults take it very serious to this day so a few things to many might have happened.
The fact that it didn't make a splash makes me wonder. Stories of mermaids go all the way back, all around the world including Australia, Africa, Europe, and ancient Rome. some ancient gods were fish people
It had me thinking about the African Yoruba tradition. Two of the main Goddesses are Oshun and Yemana who are mermaids and were worshipped as primary water deities.
@@patrickmcdonald8513 Collectively their pantheon is known as 'The Orishas'. Yemaya ruled the ocean, while her sister Oshun, is sometimes represented as her daughter, rules the rivers and lakes. 🙏🏿

Waited a long time about for a nugget like this. This is old school Rogan. Wished they talked about it a bit more but now my imagination is running wild. All those story’s could be true. The one with the Russians diving in a lake and encountering these one sticks out.

We’re floating in a nearly infinite universe on a rock with a 1 in 400 trillion chance of being here ( winning the powerball is 1 in 290 million). I’m open minded to almost anything being true.
I worked a remote fishing cannery up in Alaska, 95% ( well in America at least) of people have never been to anywhere remote. And what I’ve learned is, people don’t like to believe anything that’s not in a textbook. Because it gives them some false sense of security that we know everything already.
@Vanilla Vulture I once watched a documentary about a woman with a terrible skin condition, no medicine worked. She went to some old jungle tribe and they applied some ointment made of an unknown plant. After 3 weeks she was almost cured but had to go home. It was incredible. What I'm trying to say is that we don't know everything and there is lots of shit out there we haven't discovered and that would probably blow our mind.
@@libertariansasquatch I actually live in a remote area in Alaska and I’ll tell you firsthand that most of what people here believe most certainly did not come from any academic text book. Indigenous people definitely have their own set of beliefs and values passed down from generations that are not found in text books. Text books can’t deal with what hasn’t been discovered yet but once it’s discovered guess where it will be? Yup, a text book.
I remember seeing what I thought was a mermaid at the lighthouse beach in CT. I can’t remember how old I was, but I was there with my dad and brothers. A thunderstorm started rolling in fast and they were telling everyone to leave. I was the last in the water. I remember looking up at the clouds and as I looked down something was in the water well last the safety net at the rocks of the lighthouse in the water. I swear I couldn’t see that well but I was straining my eyes and I swear I seen a silhouette of someone’s upper half with hair. I stared maybe what felt like a few minutes… there in the water and I noticed all these baby jellyfish and fish coming up to the shore… and I looked back again and whatever it was still was staring or seemed like it and then it went back down in the water. I turned around frightened to my dad asking why was there a person so far out like that because the water is dangerously rough and wanted to know how they got past the net … my dad chuckled and urged me to get out the water so I did. I swear I had to have seen one watching all of us evacuate the water.
I thought the same but give poor Joe a break he could've just as easily meant the thing itself was dark so he couldn't see if it had scales or something
I got a friend that was in the navy and he said he overheard some captains or idk exactly who. I don't know the ranks. Anyway he told me he over heard some higher ups talking about mermaids. He was on the big ships. Traveled the world.
My Step grandfather was from that part of the world and there is a local tradition they only ate fish they could identify eg. Served with its head on! To make sure they weren’t eating mermaids.
Every one dismissing the idea of mermaids ought to know life originated from the waters. There were deities worshipped in the oldest civilizations that came from ocean and that were fish human hybrids. Even recently, aliens are believed to be coming in and out of oceans.
You mean like the deep ones from lovecraftian lore, different cults from way back did indeed worship beings that come from the ocean and Dagon is one of the most prominent of these deities.
I seen something really weird in Dominican Republic, it was a guy swimming in from way out in the ocean, but he swam atleast 30 miles an hour and was jumping out of the water like a dolphin.I have never seen anything like this in my life.I’m still confused as to how.But this dude swam to the beach and started walking .It was not normal all I can say
He mentions in between those timestamps the warning of someone in the Seychelles about relating the story, which is safe to assume what he really meant to say in this first timestamp...
I was seduced by a mermaid while swimming at night once is this same place, the Seychelles, this 1 was definitely female. She/it somehow put me in an almost trance like state where I knew what was going on wasn't normal but I felt so safe and peaceful almost like this thing wanted to take care of me, it led me to some rocks near a sort of cave entrance or alcove it was hard to tell because it was dark, just before I was led fully in a boat appeared with a guy shouting at me to get away it was quite terrifying but he managed to pull me up onto the boat. He turned out to be a fisherman and he told me to never go in those waters again and that I was lucky to leave with my life.
Same thing happened to me. But i went inside that cave and the mermaid & i had copious amount of coitus. We had 2 merkids, one was in the pacific ocean, the other disappeared off the chinese coast.. wonder what happened to my son
I fish constantly in the surf. From May to November. I saw the same one night. Pretty freaked out. After thousands and thousands of hours in the surf that was the only one i ever saw
Actually we haven't seen WAYYYY more then half and there's depths that we may never be able to go to, what makes us think that things didn't adapt to live down there especially when we know that some mammals like whales are able to go to those depths, yes they're much bigger so they could handle the air pressure but what's to say humanoid things couldn't of adapted millennia ago, it's really not that far fetched, evolution is a fuckin strange thing, what if they adapted since the time of Pangea? With so many things and creatures on the land heaps of creatures would've had to adapt to the ocean, it's definitely a possibility.
I remember when I visited Nigeria in high school & the locals told me the same thing they told this man.. "not to go out near, on or around the lake after dark because of water cryptids." The Bible says they exist!! And that the Earth is a mystery; that there are many things that are hidden on the Earth which will be revealed within a particular time. I remember hanging out with classmates (I was a foreign exchange student at the time) had an erie very close call clowning around a small lagoon we frequented close by the school!! His account reminded me so much of what I experienced. These things aren't animals.. they have an interdimensional nature much like aliens. They hate ALL HUMANITY, eat human flesh, I'd dare to say are jealous of us, they feel evil.. emit evil & are evil. Animals on the other hand, have a separate, distinct placement & purpose from them. Animals exist in order to eat, procreate and protect what they have.. . this isn't evil. These beings *ARE* evil. There are still living dinosaurs which the West claims are extinct but live in deep deep deep rain forests within remote areas, they're also found in local lakes, deep lagoons & ocean banks all over the world🌍🌎 The Smithsonian institute with a handful of other Western government constructs are set up in order to confiscate & hide these info or completely keep it from the public access in order to keep it's citizens dependent only upon them to validate information. Which is why I laugh when people claim that "science" hasn't proven their existence! The information in the West is kept frighteningly under tight control to keep the masses incoherently stupid.
I agree with everything else but i have to say... they aren't evil. they just don't particularly favour humans especially considering what we have done to their homes. they mostly don't care for humans, they only become agitated once humans enter their territory, they will not hesitate to kill you, e.g this guy's account and how he felt he should get out of the water. some beings don't like humans with each having their own reasons while others don't care or don't have a problem with humans. it's simply that any and everyone chooses what they want to be whether "evil" or "good" some angels can be "evil" while some demons can be "good" it's all about free will and making choices.
Of all the countless conspiracy mermaid shows, videos etc people have made.. this guys random story is probably the most believable account I’ve ever heard. Who knows what it was they saw but 2 people saw it and both thought it was a mermaid..pretty crazy.
They are real. Not like y'all first think. It's the medium of a person and a monster. They follow the whales. There is history of fisherman finding spears made of bone. Professionally crafted, piercing the fish's skin. Mostly large water life. We right now fish along side dolphins. They know the fisherman will give them their cut. So yes they are very real. Painted on caves before anything else.
Oh man. I'm from the Netherlands and I saw Tony Woods twice in Amsterdam,in like,2007 or something. And saw the bits about Little red riding hood and about the fight with a little person. He may be an empath and very attentive to his surroundings. I been with people and I’m seeing all kinds of wildlife, (not necessarily cryptic) but no one else would notice due to them not paying enough attention or being as attentive as I was. So there’s a chance your friend did actually see something Lol.
This makes my day, pulling up Joe Rogan and watching one of his guest talking about stuff that to me at least seems random but interesting, like out of nowhere.😲
I saw a purple Spiderman (humanoid with no detail features) run across the woods trail and on down a hill.. was like a 20 sec. Long vision....took years to kinda convince myself it was just shadows....
Can you elaborate? Where were you? What was your initial reaction? Do you remember other details of its appearance, movements, or actions? What do you think it was?
Near the towns of Gokwe and Matare in Zimbabwe, They say reservoir repairs had been delayed a long time ago because of mermaid attacks. The divers said they would never go back so they hired some out of town white people and they came up and said the exact same thing and refused to go back down. Definitely a part of the mythology in that region of the world.
Well, seeing as we’ve only scratched the surface of deep ocean and space exploration, I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s all fear of the unknown that makes it seem crazy.
This reminds me of a story my dad told me about a village he lived in; in Nigeria, these two twins got kidnapped by Mermaids, and the Mermaids took them down to an underground city, and the twins said that the place looked beautiful and that they didn't want to go back they went back and told the story to everyone in the village
i once talked to 3 local fisherman in Malaysia, portdickson. They told me about a creature like this and a brown aquatic dragon that swims where the sea water meets fresh water. The Next day me and my family went to another spot near the mangrove and another fisherman told us of the brown dragon creature. Weird.
What did they say about the brown water dragon thing? Can you explain more cuz this is really intriguing, I'm Maori and in Maori legend there are creatures called Taniwha, which are aquatic dragons that would lure children off the coast to eat them, yes it could've been a warning for children not to go swimming without an adult supervising but I believe in every myth there is DEFINITELY a bit of truth that we're not willing to believe, there's been tales of these creatures in literally every single culture known to man so there's gotta be some sort of truth behind it.
In malaysia, most fisherman that go out on the water at night always told me a story abt encounter with mermaid, they say that these creatures always show up if u say the word “mermaid” And we believe that they are paranormal creatures . Some dude who went on a fishing trips with his friend, and rented a boat. The driver was an old timer fisherman who used to the sea and come these 4 city dude with short temper. one of the dude had enough of not catching anything and start saying bullshit like “idc what i caught, idc if its squid, crab, slug idc , even mermaid”. Lo and behold after 10 minute something made a splash on the side of the boat and when one of the friend saw it , he said “uh oh we fucked” because there and obvious mermaid looking creature starring at them . Big eyes green, grayish skin hideous looking of-course. 3 of em start losing their shit cuz they dont believe it. From a boring fishing trip turn into chaotic horror scene. 3 of em wanted to go home right away while the others start praying to god . The boat captain, getting furious to that one dude that mentioned the word mermaid because before they start their trip. The captain said that we need to think twice before saying words especially when it comes to mystic stuff.

I just talked to him briefly about it and he said he’s personally never seen one but has talked to multiple people that he said wouldn’t have any reason to make it up that have. He said he’s seen other things but didn’t have time to go into detail about it. I had looked it up a while back and there’s been a lot of sightings and stories on Mermaids in Africa
Its crazy because my friend's friend died not long ago while he was fishing with another one of his friend, the place that theyve gone to fish at is famous for being a dangerous paranormaly active or something like that and they went fishing there anyway and at one point something flipped the boat (was a small boat like a raft fit for 2 people max) and pull one of the guy straight to the depth of the lake and the other guy manage to see that the "thing" that pulled the other guy was a woman but he didnt see her underhalf he just saw a hand and a head pulling his other friends to the depth of the lake, and after a search that took days he was found dead floating in the lake. I dint even know him but may he rest in peace
