Too close for comfort today at a violent Oklahoma tornado. El Reno - May 31, 2013 

Oh my goodness! Always wondered who was passing Brandon Sullivan in the ditchline! Cool to see another angle of the same debri whipping thru the road! Ya'll were very lucky to make it out with only truck damage!

I have to say that as a chaser I can recognize and appreciate a good driver when I see one. That was an allstar move behind the wheel when Brandon's group slowed down. The passenger didn't even get out "why is he stopping" before he was in the ditch and taking care of it lol. You have to drive aggressive in those situations and he did without even thinking twice.

It was brandon sullivans car that stopped the got slammed by debris. If you watch the vid you see your vehicle fly past virtually off road!!!! This storm caught out a lot of chasers, sadly for some!!!!! Rip to the 3

they were avoiding fly debris and were getting pushed off the road into the ditch maybe.

That was another chaser. There's a video from his car here: /watch?v=ziZNsproDzs He wasn't being a dumb-ass, his car is lighter than the one in this video and was being pulled back by the force of the wind. Also, the fact that there was no collision resulted purely from the fact that as they were accelerating forward, the tornado pushed their car into the ditch on the side of the road. No dumb-asses, no great driving, and certainly no panicked drivers not knowing what to do.

If this was Tim's truck, the occupants of the above video are blessed in ways they can hardly realize, because the storm literally missed them by seconds. The horrific aftermath of the TwisTEX team's SUV encounter with the world's largest recorded tornado can be found online. May God comfort the families of these brave men, who truly were trying to, as Tim said, to trun 10 or 15 minute tornado warnings into 30 minute warnings, through their very important research. The team's work lives on.

There are a lot of people chasing tornadoes these days who should not be doing so. We're going to see more chasers killed, and then laws are going to be passed against storm chasing.

They need to outlaw cars also - or maybe they should make the storms illegal - Do you realize that your local fire department is out there also - I don't chase - can't afford it, but I am a trained weather spotter and a volunteer firefighter. If they are willing to do it good for them.

Not broadcast quality but it is good enough for youtube but then what isn't good enough for youtube. Keep practicing and if you upgrade your equipment you could make some cash. Remember to invest in a good sound guy as top quality sound would put you over the top. Think schoeps for a good mic.

At 2:12 the passenger says "Why's this car stoppin'" The white SUV they pass MAY have been one of Tim Samaras' TwisTEX mobile units, attempting to drop off one of his famous "turtle" monitors. I didn't note, however, the various pieces of scientific apparatus Tim kept on his own vehicle, so likely wasn't his. In any event, it's easy to see how quickly this massive storm grew and moved. Godspeed Tim and Paul Samaras, and Carl Young. You are missed.
