@Tassian : God really ? How dare you call "someone" who would help people to win competitions with far more influence than doping against women god ? And in the same way why would that "god" let hundreds of children and people to die everyday or to live in big poverty, plus countries destroying the planet ? If I would be a believer I would not call it "god" but quite the contrary, hopefully I don't believe in him or the other one, people are good or bad themselves and abusing about something is clearly something bad for everyone. Do you know how other women competing against Caster feel ? Caster him/herself revealed that "I do not feel supported by other women" recently and it's so obvious why ! Sport is about equality and is the only work that people can succeed regardless to their skin tone or their origins. Caster has a XY genotype so it's basically a man with female attributes and that's why we call it transgender. He/She has more testosterone and that's why he/she wins more competitions than Lance Armstrong did, this is not about god this is about something over than cheating. Fighting for transgender is a great cause but winning by abusing people is really really bad for everyone. Sport is based on equality that's why men and women are separated into categories and the solution does exist for transgenders : create a third category to let them compete in fairness and that would also give them more visibility during competitions thus helping the transgender cause !
@Normani is better than Camila You are the one who is willingly stupid. Your hero Caster has been outed as male. That is why he lost the arbitration and appeals. He can't get his testosterone levels down low enough because he is a dude. Now he is trying to force himself on women's soccer. I hope the women kick his ass to the curb.
Racing in the Olympics is not a human right. There needs to be rules in this competition in order for it to be as fair as possible. In this case, women need to compete against women in order for it to be fair. XX women.
A lot of people don't know anything .I grew up with a lot of women who appear a little different .Especially black race .Strong features . Never used drugs - nothing .Deep voice whole 9 yards .What about the runner Maria Mutola ? ( might not have that name spelled right ) She was in several different Olympic Games .One of best in world .I 'm sure they have her on UTUBE .
@Europa Man - I thank you .The man gets insulted and labeling people with all these gender insults .Only explaining to him the facts . No need for him or anyone to get all out side themselves . Maria Mutola looks about the same as her physically. And she has always looked boxy in appearance . I have seen women like her in Midwest .People getting hot - headed and saying insults makes no sense .If he would have even looked up Maria Mutola ( with several World Titles and Olympic Gold Metals )maybe he would not launch so many insults .I am very surprised that they have made no comparisons to her .
SEX - XY chromosomes, has testes, no uterus, no ovaries, no fallopian tube, no period. Gender -dresses and acts in traditionally male roles, married to woman. I mean what part of Caster is even woman?
Medical examiner said she is a woman! Her mother and grandmother saw her being born a woman. She grew into an athlete, and a world champion. Congratulations Caster !!!
That's not true at all. Of course it's not her fault, but she could take medication to get her testosterone down to a normal female level. She refuses because at that level she is not competitive with women. Don't feel sorry for her. 99.9% of the people in the world cannot compete at Olympic levels. She is one of us. If you look at her history, she did not work as hard or put in the time that other female runners have who have reached that level. They are the ones I feel sorry for.
Caster is in a very, very difficult situation. She is more than likely somewhere kind of in between man and woman. She has internal genitalia, so in my opinion, she looks almost androgynous. As far as track and field, she is not running times that are even remotely competitive in the men's field. As a matter of fact, she is running top high boys times in the 800m and she has not broken the women's world record in that event. So I am inclined to believe that she probably has more testosterone than a woman, but not enough to classify her as a man. So maybe it's not really helping her performance-wise... She just happens to be running the fastest out of all the women in this event at this time. Bottom line, she is 10-15 seconds BEHIND the men in this event. That has to say something... Not sure there is a real solution to all this unless another category of "Other" was created. But that would only make things far more complicated and cause further stigma.
He is a male. His lawyers revealed the truth, and the UK Sunday Times exposed this truth recently. This is why he lost in front of the arbitration panel although the panel did not disclose the fact he is a man. Because he is a male, he has competed fraudulently against women for years, no doubt for the awards, medals, and piles of money from sports endorsements.
@@someadandlogochannel Oh, please. He has been revealed to be a man. His lawyers said it, and therefore it is true. He should be barred from all athletic competition because he is a cheater.
ʀᴀᴢᴏʀʙᴀᴄᴋɢᴇʀᴍᴀɴɪᴀ bruh can you just understand like tf ? What if that was you bruh people like you are annoying as hell and even if she was a man which she isn’t how is she a weird and ugly one? STFU and stop commenting on other comments the same this use your brain you dumbass
He deserves everything and more. He is a disgusting human being, a cheat, a fraud, and no doubt his family and doctors were in on the fraud. Shame on you for swallowing this brazen cheating.
ʀᴀᴢᴏʀʙᴀᴄᴋɢᴇʀᴍᴀɴɪᴀ are you an idiot she even got test and the results were female. You’re ugly and full of hate you can’t see someone succeed while you’re low trash, small minded, ignorant, bitch self should sit down somewhere and stfu
Martjie Louw you do realise she was born with a gift and is doing what she loves. If she’s to stop running that’s like asking someone to stop being talented to make everyone else feel better. If you’re opinion is what she is born with is a advantage why not also stop Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps both have have something in their genetics. Do you research this is clearly unfair to her
Martjie Louw so it’s ok for a man to have a genetic advantage but not for a woman. You do realise a woman can be just as strong as a man right I’ve seen female body builders. It’s not like she changed herself to have an advantage over anyone. She’s simply being herself and doing what she loves. Why do you have to put someone down for no reason. She’s strong in my eyes for having to put up with people ignorance. It is true what they say ignorance is bliss
Legion he test should she was female this was all cleared up in 2010. This was publicly showed to everyone and yet people are still petty about her winning. SHE’S a strong WOMAN

@@lovemidou9619 Its not about race its litterally about gender. Many intersex runners know for a fact it's unfair. So they don't compete but run for fun. Like anyone here who loves running shouldn't do it for a record they should do it to have fun
They probably would not have bothered her. They were looking into it because it was so clearly unfair. With her hormonal differences she can do much better than any XX women possibly could! So there is no chance for them.
@@jayaom4946 Sports are inherently unfair because some people have natural advantages. Michael Phelps has hyper-extension in all joints and doesn't produce as much lactic acid as a normal human, yet nobody is calling for him to be banned from swimming.
@@levirognejensen1745 This is a specific difference between men and women which is why they are split up in sports. When XY people are allowed to compete against XX, there is no point in having an XX category. Also, even if an XY person takes hormones to fit in with XX group, they will still benefit from their many years of being XY. There are many differences between various people but there is a reason that men and women are split in sports and there's no point in women's sports if these categories are going to be ignored. (That's why people wanted Semenya to be tested).
The South African athlete has testosterone levels three times higher than is expected in women due to hyperandrogenism. She has no womb or ovaries, but instead has internal testes because of a chromosomal abnormality. Semenya identifies as a woman, but some would label her as intersex Oh yea.....sounds like the complete opposite of female/woman - you would probably be ok with men just tucking their dick between their legs before any event took place.
@@martjie I share your point of view but it would be better made without the incorrect statement "An underdeveloped penis is a vagina". If you need to go there, then an underdeveloped penis is a clitoris.
@ 28:22. exactly what i was saying. she hasn't broken the 800m world record. she's just running better than the current competition. so i'm guessing the current women 800m record holder Jarmila Kratochvílová from west Germany is also a man.
When Flo Jo was doing all them fast times did anyone say she was too fast to be a girl?? no, they didn't even bat an eye...she was praised!!! Is it because she was American?? Leave Caster alone.
She has some fabulously supportive professionals around her and the lawyer is amazing. We have to remember that she is natural and cannot influence what nature has done. Admittedly she does have masculine mannerisms but she seems a beautiful person inside.
The issue is not her personality it whether a Intersex person should compete in the female class. Since far more full women are disadvantaged by Caster being Intersex in competiton, Intersex people should be made to compete in the male class, if they can win there then there will be no unfair advanatge
My point is not solely about her personality but that she is at the mercy of her genetics as we all are and until there are definitive rules about intersex competition, then she has a choice of who and where she competes.Unless there is a blanket approach to testing of all athletes those apparently visibly questionable should not be made an example of in any situation. The failing here is not Caster but the ruling bodies.
He? seems you are too polarised to understand complex argument and descend into vulgarity as defense. Don't enter any arbitrator positions or you'll find you have to leave in a lather as you will be the ridiculous one.
@@linwilllogan That's the thing. SHE has dealt with it very much in secrecy: SHE has been using the right to the privacy of her medical file to hide the fact that she has testies that give her male levels of testosterone. SHE has been hiding her medical condition that gives her an unfair advantage against female competitors. That's why it's important to set the record strait, publicly. Media has been using lies by omission to misinform the public. Transparency is essential for the fairness of competition in sports.
@VIBEz Caster Semenya has a condition where her male genitals have not developed properly. She has testies inside her abdomen that release male levels of testosterone. Look at her and listen to her voice: she's had male puberty and that's why she's beating every women on the filed. She has dishonestly used the right to the privacy of her medical file to hide her condition.
@VIBEz Of course it's not her fault. But she's still hiding her condition to the public at large and trying to pass as a poor victim of discrimination instead of telling the truth and that's unfair to other female competitors. To me, fairness in sports is important. Track and field needs fairness or else it will lose a lot of supporters around the world.
She is a human being no matter what so can u imagine how hard it must be for her to go through all this and still be able to run . What has happened to humanity
I'm glad I watched this documentary. It humanized her for me, helped me understand the difficulty she and her family have had to face given her unique situation. It may appear that indeed she has an unfair advantage, and yet, it is not her fault. Initially, I thought that maybe she was really a male who's testicles and genitalia never descended, but that's not the case. Tests have shown her to be female with high levels of testosterone. Therefore, it's her right to compete with other females. To prevent her from running would be simply discriminatory and wrong. Nice to see after everything she went through she was able to come back in top form and succeed in the Rio Olympics.
Same here, it seems she has female DNA but an unusually high testosterone - an endocrine disorder. A “freak” you might say BUT if a DNA female basketballer has a freakish [male type] height e.g.7 feet tall can they not compete with other women using their God-given/biological status to their advantage?
It’s a tough situation but it seems like it would be extremely unfair to the 99% of other female competitors to allow caster to compete. This advantage is obviously not her fault, but this situation lends itself to being unfair to one group or another so you have to weight the benefit of the majority and in this case it would be more fair to the majority to ban her from competing.

Caster, a misogynist male, deserves what he has been through after he discovered conclusively that he was male. Again, Caster discovered, with evidrnce, that he is male. He has no womb. He has no ovaries. He has testes. He has 5a-reductase-2, a condition that only affects males. And, despite this discovery, he decided to live in denial and promote misogyny and abuse towards female athletes. I feel compassion for him, but he has been completely inappropriate and immature. He is a powerful voice for denial.
I am glad Caster is back on the track. She must now go out and restore her status as number 1 800 metre athlete. Go Caster Go. South Africa is behind you.
Caster, you are an inspiration!! So many commenters cannot even pass an Introduction to biology let alone understand the complexity of her case, yet they can say so confidently “she is a man”. Does she have some masculine characteristics? Sure she does, but to no fault of her own. Her condition is a medical one and not as uncommon as people may think. There are many disorders that can impact secondary sexual characteristics. If she does indeed have this issue, the documentary explains logically how it does not give her an unfair advantage.
"5α-Reductase 2 deficiency (5αR2D) is an autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in SRD5A2, a gene encoding the enzyme 5α-reductase type 2 (5αR2). No choice how HE was born but he IS responsible for how he lives--which is a lie. I do not think that when he looks in the mirror, that Caster believes for one minute that he is looking at a woman
Martin she went through the test that was cleared up in 2010 she’s a woman leave her alone. Someone doesn’t have to look feminine to be a woman. You’re clearly stereotypical and think a girl should look a certain way just to identify as a woman. You’re absolutely wrong she a beautiful strong woman to be facing hate for no reason but doing what she loves. So shut up and stop sharing your idiotic opinions
@Martin Caster is a woman. That's why she didn't run with men. She's a freak of nature, but so are Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps. That shouldn't disqualify her. On top of that, she has yet to break any records and both those other guys have.
@Martin That is RIDICULOUS! Being female can easily be seen by whether your chromosomes are XX or XY. So if a person is genetically female but happens to look more like a dude to you, then she doesn't get to compete?! Open a god damn book about gender instead of posting your insane beliefs online.
Most of these comments really show how people are ready to jump to conclusions without any facts to back up some remarks they are claiming....... You have no shame!.

Just Keep Running Semenya. That's all you want to do. I can't imagine how stressful this is, being judged and analyzed. We all have some biological differences some more than others, but you got to live and do what you love girl. Bolt has a genetic advantage so any female out there that has a genetic advantage should also be left alone to enjoy themselves on the track or whatever they do in life. There is a genetic reason Bolt is the fastest human on the planet; no one complains. Just because she is really good doesn't mean she shouldn't run with everyone else, no matter her condition. We all get sick or born the way we are. Let her be who she is. She has sisters and brothers and I'm sure her parents did the best to raise her the best as she is and who she is is just who she is and nobody can change that. There are some males that seem more feminine and the world is not bothering them. Just because you are so fast, people think they should place you where they think. If you were not winning, they wouldn't even care to come and judge your life and who you always been before they saw you are fast you are. You be who you are. The bottom line is you are faster than most people in this world. You are as fast as a woman and faster than many men like many Olympic athletes male or female are. You don't yet hold the world record, so go get it if you want it; keep training and try to get even faster.
She was born how she was born. Her mum named her who she came out as. Semenya has a goal and she is focused and that makes her powerful. We all should go get our own focus and our own power and priorities instead of criticize her for for trying. Some people don't even try. The truth is most people or everyone finds flaws on their own body or character. Semenya is wise enough to accept who she is as who she is and who God decided she is and she has no problem with it; unlike most people. You will be a mess if people started calling those flaws (you think are flaws) out everyday. You wouldn't be able to stand the pressure. We are all a mystery when we are born and we must embrace ourselves and let others embrace themselves best they can. At least she accepts herself and she runs because she loves it and she can do that on her own and she is determined to be the best she can be. Not many people are so focused. I am pretty sure if she ran for presidency or something people like males to do and if she was really good at it; people will start telling her she is a female and they don't want her to rule. They will find reasons to tell her that she is not a man if she was trying to be a king and she was good at it. We humans are a living contradiction. Many female Olympics athletes are better at many sports than men. Many males cannot catch the fastest female runners. If a male was born that had female traits, nobody will complain if that man competed with males. If Bolt looked and sounded like a female but is a male, people wouldn't tell him to go run with females. They wouldn't want the fastest human being to be female. If a female was born that has masculine traits, people complain that female is competing with females IF SHE IS REALLY GOOD. If she isn't good, people wouldn't complain. Whatever you look like, feel like, your psychology is your business at the end of the day. We are all a phenomenon. When you get born, you can come out however and you have to embrace it and roll with it. Her mum saw a female and called Semenya a female. It's now unnecessary to try to give her so much stress and depression because we are not satisfied.
I can't believe some people. Her entire life has been on display and criticized by people like you. Yes she may have manly qualities and more testosterone...but that is how she grew up and it's not as if she injected herself with testosterone like people who cheat! She never asked for this, it's the hand she was dealt and she deals with it on a constant basis. Imagine your biggest insecurity was put on display. At least she had guts to fight for what she wanted. And exactly what that video said we don't question abnormalities in men do we? Why do all the other athletes complain and bad-mouth another runner, why don't they concentrate on bettering themselves, accepting the challenge. Yes she might have an advantage, but that wasn't her choice and to put her next to men would be labeling her something she is not and putting her at a disadvantage. Is that fair either? Why not take this as a challenge and have empathy for her, to understand the courage it must have taken to have her world turned upside down and give her, her moment in life.
If I am born of short stature and self identify as a short person my entire life and my goal is to compete in the Paralympics but I am denied a spot because I am an inch shorter than the qualifying height is it this fair to deny me my dream? Yes, I might have an advantage over the other competitors but they should concentrate on bettering themselves should they not? I shouldn't be bad mouthed because I have a natural advantage. Don't kill my dream of competing in the Paralympics. Signed, "The World's Tallest Midget"
Olympians aren't average women. I think people seem to forget this. At that level there is SO MUCH deviation from what is considered average, in all senses, that it becomes incredibly opaque to determine how much of an edge her elevated natural testosterone affords anyway. Also frequently forgotten is the training, skill, dedication and perseverance that she puts into her sport, just like any of the other competitors. She didn't just wake up this morning and decide to run the 800m. She's been training her whole life for this, and arguably has faced more DISADVANTAGE in her life than those athletes from more prosperous backgrounds. BTW Look up the symptoms of PCOS (another condition which produces elevated levels androgens in females)- it's the polar opposite of a "competitive edge" (characterised by weight gain and muscular atrophy). How the female body responds to elevated testosterone (particularly endogenous /naturally occurring testosterone) is a subject of extreme controversy because there is too much variation to define a standard set of clinical observations.
punkfluff64 So let's say that given all the disadvantages in training facilities and other things that Caster suffers she should be allowed to compete in the interests of fairness. What happens then when another inter sex athlete comes along except she is from a first world country. You've suspended or changed the rules to admit Caster and others like her - how do you deny a person with access to first world facilities who is inter sex? The answer is you can't. There have to be guidelines to protect women's sport just as there are guidelines to protect Paralympic sports. If an individual is visually impaired but doesn't meet the criteria for the Paralympics they don't compete. It doesn't matter where they came from or how hard they trained or how they self-identify. Saying that current tests are imperfect doesn't change the fact that we need to have eligibility guidelines. He has no uterus or ovaries, but testes and male hormone levels, as do the other medal winners in this farcical race. The genuine women did not stand a change against three MEN.
The other absurd thing was how the one coach guy had the nerve to come to his own conclusion of how it wouldn't affect other real female athletes without even asking them.
The case of Caster Semenya clearly exposes the dysfunction of IOC and IAAF and their archaic approach. Any woman caught doping to reach that level of strength, which comes natural for Semenya, is banned from the competition. Clearly $$$ is the reason, nothing else...
The problem of finding a specific criteria to divide women and men in sports is a very hard complex problem. We must all participate in this discussion without fighting because the answer is not simple and there are many valid arguments, its not just black and white, there are not two sides.
José María Odriozola, professor of biochemistry and member of the Directing Council of the IAAF - until September -, came out in defense of the regulations on hyperparathyroidism introduced by the IAAF and explained that the South African Caster Semenya, the most relevant case, "is biologically a man". And when it comes to racing, she has "a huge advantage" over her rivals. "She says the IAAF is against her, but the rules are for everyone. Her case comes from the World Cup in Berlin 2009. She has XY chromosomes, like the men, and then a series of hormonal internal controls that make him hyperogenic. We do not enter his denomination as a woman, but that he is biologically a man, with characteristics, in some aspects, not totally anatomically defining of man, but has an advantage huge, that is why there are competitions of men and women, "he told EFE Odriozola, one of the promoters of the issue being dealt with in the IAAF Board of Directors, in which That takes twenty years.
Well shit, I feel am I am a woman. Since I can't cut mustard in a male competiton, I think I will just say I am a woman and compete against females. Clearly, thats a man.
Her body produces testosterone but so do that of many others females. I dnt see y u r complaining. She hasn't broken the world record. So are we to assume tht the current record holder was also a man?
What a beautiful pretty girl. Guys stop hating her she is beautiful amazing your just jealous that she wipes your but. And that's from a South African girl go girls
The most brilliant female athlete. This is what excellence is. Every brilliant person has exceptional abilities look at Einstein, Phelps, Bolt... same ingredients they have inherent competitive advantage. Thats what it is. As for the IAAF, it is a questionable institution.
The IAAF should have just had chromosome testing done quietly and dismissed Caster in private if they came back male. Then there's no cover-up and no leaking. Trying to weasel around the rules is what led to the leaking and speculation.
I have read all the comments about Caster, and I have more respect for her because at least she's not trying to be something other than what she is. She is not hiding or lying about her anatomical differences or her preference for women unlike these men who get married and raise kids pretending to be straight only to come out 15 to 20 years later wearing women's clothes and cramming their big rusty feet in women's shoes. Caster has no choice but to be who and what she is because she was born this way, but these other low-down creeps who drag unsuspecting people into webs of lies and fake relationships infecting women with diseases and destroying families can choose to be hetero, homo, or bi. What choice does she have, and is it her fault that her family chose to raise her as a girl if she was really born a boy? The fault is not with her but with the double-standard in society that people use to harass others when they can't comfortably categorize or control them. By the way, all you female haters should look in the mirror because, by some standards, you might not fit the description of a woman either.
That must have been a very difficult time for her, I cannot imagine what went through her head. But authorities do have the right to ask for tests, you can't blame them. Blame those who embarrassed her and hated her for being who she is
She has not shown that she is too fast to be a woman, but that her physique, muscle mass and body type deep voice and biology tell us she is most likely to strong, too manly to be a woman.
Alright. I have a voice so low that I am often mistaken for a man over the phone. I gain muscle mass more quickly than most women (without the use of drugs). I'm pretty flat-chested and have a masculine build. And yet my birth certificate and ultrasound photos are clearly marked with FEMALE. Am I "too manly" to be a woman?
I don't know. However, I do know that with testicles and testosterone levels 5-10 higher than an average woman, having Caster (XY Chromosomes) run with biological women (xx chromosome) will destroy women's sport. Perhaps there is another category that she can compete in.
Uhm, I've seen plenty of WNBA players that look just as manly as her. If you look at her up close in some of the home videos, you can clearly see that she is a women.
