Your on the right track eat right and get exercise that's how I did it and DONT look at a scale you'll have times that you'll not lose weight as you gain muscle and that will just frustrate you best wishes and again YOU CAN DO IT

La Lido Loca just came across your video. If you’re serious about changing your lifestyle and sounds like you have goal to work towards and are motivated, have a look at the keto diet. I tried it and after just over a year of changing my life I lost 120lbs, now at my goal weight and still following the diet as it’s more a lifestyle change. It’s really easy, from my perspective, and the food you can eat is really good. Once you get over the carb addiction you really don’t want to eat all the ‘crap’. Good luck and god speed.

I spent the last 25 years at around 300lbs. A friend of mine did it, so I decided it was time. I dropped 80lbs in a little over 6 months. Did it perfectly healthy and never felt bad or starved myself. It takes a change, it takes determination. I'm at around 220lbs now, came off my diet at Thanksgiving but monitored, gained back about 10lbs. Going back on now to drop to between 190/200lbs. The main thing I did was cut all sugar and sugar substitutes, went to a vegetarian diet and got on the scale every morning and every night to see where I was.

Hi Tony, Stay with it mate! I too was very heavy, I was over 320 pounds 21 months ago and in quite poor health. I retired early in my fifties and we moved to Spain (from the UK). I, like you I suspect, was fed up with being the 'fattest person in the room' in any given situation. Mainly, because of health concerns, I decided to lose weight, I don't really have a goal, weight-wise but being a life long dieter my weight has been up and down, so I knew it wouldn't be easy. In the end I decided to take it day-by-day and see how it went. Incidentally, my daughter, who is a doctor, one said to me "It takes years to put on weight and it can take years to lose it". That has stuck with me and if I don't lose a set amount every week I don't obsess about it. I don't drink anymore but that is because I've been ill and just don't fancy it. We have a simple eating regime, Breakfast, low sugar cereal or toast sometimes. Lunch is usually some type of Ryvita, or similar, with perhaps paté or a little cheese on it, with fruit afterwards. Dinner, a smallish meal. We avoid a lot of fats, butter etc. I don't eat much meat anyway and enjoy fish. Sometimes we'll have a salad sandwich and some soup. It is true that your stomach gets smaller eventually and you can't eat as much as you used to. I have to mention eating less and cutting out sugary stuff gave me quite bad headaches for a few weeks but that wears off after a while. We don't count calories but stay away from high-calorie stuff like fats, sugar, cakes, biscuits (cookies) etc. We keep away from much bread, pasta, rice and potatoes, fries etc. Although we do have small amounts sometimes. Every few weeks we treat ourselves to a take-away. Pizzas etc. Now we are used to eating less, we share a pizza between us. We usually get four pizzas delivered and freeze the ones we don't use. I think eating sugary based things is the worst thing for making you feel hungry. All in all I have lost over 100 pounds and weight loss is quite slow now, I am OK with that, as long as I'm not putting weight back on! Lol. One thing I have found useful is to monitor my weight using a spreadsheet (the free Google Sheets). I weigh myself every couple of weeks or so and enter it on the s/s, I suppose I'm a bit of a nerd in that respect Lol. Best of luck with your dieting efforts, I have sub'd to see how you get on. Regards.

@@tenngirl1976I'm not the person you wrote- but I've lost over 80lbs and kept it off for three years with keto. Here's a good presentation by Dr Westman from Duke University ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GH9IZHnyr2I.html It's long and filled with a lot of great information. There is a woman-specific subreddit on reddit for keto called r/xxketo that has a very helpful community. Diet Doctor is a good website for keto/low carb recipes and meal planning. They have some free videos as well as paid ones, so heads up there. There are a lot of people trying to make money off keto- but don't worry. It's really simple. There are a lot of 'keto items' for sale in stores now- you don't need them. You can just eat food without need for special shakes or any pills or whatever the newest trend is. Keto is free.

Thank you for sharing this difficult topic. I have been heavy most of my life and when I would fly I would quietly ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extender...I was so embarrassed. In May 2018 my granddaughter was born and I saw a picture of myself and I was horrified..I was 311-lbs, the heaviest I have ever been. I decided that I would not be able to keep up with my granddaughter so I started eating better and dropped 45-lbs...managed to keep it off until June 2019 when I went back to weight watchers and have now lost a total of 94-lbs...I still have a ways to go but I’m doing it and enjoying my new found freedom...❤️❤️❤️

I apologise in advance if I sound preachy. I used to be, and still am, but less so, fat. I gained the weight young and had to change the quality of my diet profoundly aged 18 (am now 19) to fix it. Nowadays the quantity regulates itself and it has ever since. I do need to buy a pair of scales. It turned out I was glucose intolerant and verging on diabetic. I fixed it (not knowing that was my problem) without ever having to count calories directly. So, are you willing to try something strange (really two strange things)? The first, optional leg of this attack on metabolic syndrome: don't change the diet just yet. buy a glucometer, test yourself before and 1h after every time you eat. If the premeal number is over 5.5 (99 in US numbers), there's too much glucose parked in your body at idle and the 2nd part of the equation will be extra important. If the postmeal is over +2 (+36 in US numbers) from the premeal, you may've eaten too much glucose (sugar, starch). The second leg of my attack on metabolic syndrome is an eating pattern characterised by fatty meat, cheese and other full-fat dairy, eggs, organs, nonstarchy vegetables, and being devoid of grains and potato. It's sort of like the Atkins diet, but less protein & more dietary fat, and without the stairway to find your glucose tolerance threshold, since an excess of protein can make you feel sort of sick, and many people find that the glucose stairway throws them back into the pit of fire that is sugar dependence. This part of the equation is what thinned me out. I have felt hungry along the way but it's not the ravenous caloric deficit hunger most dieters know and that I had before the pattern shift. It's normal person hunger. I eat meat, dairy, eggs, veggies if I want them and offal if I want it til I'm full, then I stop. Dessert happens (with artificial sweeteners) but it's strictly for emotional reasons. Otherwise I can eat twice a day and feel fine. Hunger is noticeable but doesn't cause hangry syndrome. It's not your fault you're fat. This protocol isn't a silver bullet and you can mess it up, but you'd be hard pressed to. Any diet, if it is made of food normal people eat, is safe to try for 4 weeks. If you think my advice is going to work, give the second leg of the metabolic syndrome protocol I follow (I actually added the 1st leg a year and a half in) a shot, with or without the first leg.

Great Video Tony!!!! Very proud of your commitment to getting healthy and making it a priority for YOU. Only YOU can make the changes and I join you in your life long struggle. Keep us posted in your ups and downs - we all need support and encouragement. Life's too short to let weight hold you back from enjoying the adventures. Happy Cruising!!

At the start of this year I made a huge change and have lost 40 pounds so far and have another 30 to go. My motivation was knowing that my kids want to do things with me, and my weight made me tired and not so much fun for them. Now we have made exercise something we try to do together and I know my pictures from this year's cruises will be better of me than they were last year!

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sure it wasn’t easy! I can relate all too well. I remember barely fitting in the theater chairs in Oasis and being extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention the seats on a plane! You are right...people who are overweight make accommodations just to get by in life or avoid embarrassing situations. Keep up the good work! I started keto around Thanksgiving and have lost 62 lbs without exercise. It takes dedication, but it’s working for me. You can do a lot in 140 days!!! So many resources on RU-vid, and so much support.

Your videos on this topic inspire a lot of us. Last year I used the motivation to eat a little healthier on my cruise; even with 5 specialty dining meals, I kept my weight in check. Now prepping for my two 2021 cruises, I have my daily weight loss goal charts and I'm (mostly) on track. 140 days til my (hopefully) next cruise and my goal of being down 34lbs from today! Thanks Tony for your meaningful vlogs!

I've been Keto for 7 months. I was able to do the zip line and made it 10 feet up on the climbing wall. Never would have been able to do that before. I highly recommend Keto. (less than 20 net carbs a day)

Keto is the best. I knew it by it’s earlier name as low carb but call it keto or Atkins or low carb, it’s how I lost 25 lbs over a decade ago and keep it off by staying off the carbs. Dr Duane Barry on RU-vid is a great resource. So is Shelly’s Home Life here on RU-vid.

Weighed myself one day and nearly died when i saw how much i weighed! That day i cut out all bread and pasta...went low carb, no calorie or carb counting. Veggies, cheese, eggs, turkey, chicken were free foods. I lost 70 pounds in about 6 months! Low carb/keto works!

Hey Tony, I too had/have a weight issue. In 2017 I was at the end of my rope too. I've lost 160 pounds by walking and taking one thing at a time out of my diet. And trying to limit sweet to special occasions. Good luck! I'm just getting off the Grandeur of the sea this morning and watched you're post.

Bro, out of all your videos I love this one the most. As someone who is a short person and has struggled with weight since high school I feel everything you said. I just recently started Intermittent fasting (1 month) and it's helped a lot, along with exercise. I was 250lbs and dropped 15lbs on my 1st month! Now that’s not huge numbers or anything but it’s a start in the right direction. Just get started, do what works for you and have fun doing it. Go for walks, swimming, ride a bike, find something that’s fun for you and make it your exercise. You can do it Tony.

Great video, thank you for sharing and don’t feel embarrassed, if we could all choose to be 6” and weigh 170lbs I’m sure most would flick that switch. But life comes in all shapes and sizes. And for all the diet advice from everyone, you have to find what works for you. I think the main thing is that you have come to a point where you are ready to do something about it and you understand that as long as you burn more than you consume you are on the right path. Having a goal can be a great motivator. I have 73 days until I set sail on Symphony of the Seas and I am trying to come down from 250lbs to 220lbs. For all the diets and advice I have always come back to 250lbs, but this time I am trying to make it a lifestyle change instead of just trying to lose weight. I hope you achieve your goal, hang in there buddy and keep making great content.

Tony, Bravo to you. Took a lot of transparency and humility to address this topic. A great character asset about you is just this! You make coming back to watch your content a joy. I too have a body which doesn't fit the "norm". I am extremely petite and no seat will ever fit my size (think child). *Booth seats usually sink down making the table at or near my esophagus. *If I try to sit all the way back, my feet dangle. I end up with a back ache from trying to sit upright with no back support the entire time. *My feet hurt from trying to reach the floor, using the tips of my toes to support my legs while sitting. *People always say, "you squeeze into the back/rear of a vehicle, you are little". *Many times I cannot reach, so some activities are not available to me. Lots of support coming at you!! You are not alone!!!

I randomly found this video under my recommendations, but I am glad I watched it. I know it's not easy to open up about weight struggles online like this however, I do appreciate it. I gained a lot of weight over the last few years & am struggling to lose it, I had my wake up call when I went to get on rides & realized my hips were becoming too wide for the seats. I didn't want to get so big that I couldn't even enjoy things like amusement parks, this may not seem like much, but it has affected my health (asthma) so taking this off is a must. Please keep us up to date on your weight loss journey & I will keep you in my prayers.

Thank you for bringing this up and letting so many know that that they are not alone in the struggle to deal with their weight and size issues. A lot of us see these skinny people and wish we had their metabolism/genes. One easy thing that you can do right away is just park at the far end of the parking lot when you go shopping. It doesn’t take much more time than circling the lot to find that closer spot. Just a little tip to try and help on your journey to a healthier you.

We are 522 away from our trip on the Breeze and our 20th Anniversary (and our first cruise). I'm down to 166 lbs from 192 lbs (I'm only 5'7", so 192 lbs was a lot) after having a heart attack 14 months ago. Being healthy is certainly a lifestyle change, but one I'm enjoying. Thank you for sharing transparently and being an encouragement to others. I feel today with all the science in the foods, flavorings and chemicals, they create an emotional experience to eating that didn't exist in the past when foods were more natural and eating was more utilitarian. Now eating healthy is truly a battle fought daily. I wish you and Jenny much success on your journey. We have to each encourage one other to push past the food temptations, not to mention to get up and keep moving. I've enjoyed your videos and I look forward to learning more from you. Also in the video you referenced you mention wanting something sweet after dinner. My husband and I are right there with you on that one. Right now mangos are working well for us. It doesn't hurt they're 3 for $1 and crazy sweet this week where we live👌🏾.

This is a great series, Tony. My wife and I have a lot in common with you & Jenny, including being quite fluffy ourselves. I made a decision about 7 months ago (partially brought on by a physical and lab results that pointed to prescription drugs that I wanted no part of) to make a lifestyle change. My wife, Norma, joined me a couple months in, and we are still working hard to shed the lbs. Both my step mom and her sister have lost a ton of weight on keto. It works for them. I couldn't do it. If you are what you eat, I'm pasta, bread and a potato. I literally won't eat what's on that plan. Trick is to find what works for you. If you can do Keto and stick with it thats great. My mom's sister has been large her whole life. I met her over 30 years ago, this is the first time I've ever seen her at her ideal weight.

2WheeledGeek , that’s totally wrong ! My husband is a diabetic , we went Keto 2 years ago , and today he is totally healthy ! It’s the perfect diet for diabetics , because it will get your blood sugar where it needs to be . Read Dr. Jason Fung’s book “ The Obesity Code “ . He saves people’s lives every day by putting them on a Ketogenic diet .

2WheeledGeek , you are confusing ketoacidosis with ketosis . Ketoacidosis will put you in intensive care . Ketosis is a metabolic state where the body burns fat for fuel instead of glucose .
