I'll admit as a civilian I need help organizing priority gear. I don't have the field training to know what I'll use most. I practice but not in the way you get the most thorough learning.
step 1) get friends. step 2) map a training area. step 3) draft FTX's w/ friends. step 4) go and complete ur OBJ's. step 5) debrief and repeat. You'll learn what you need to learn, naturally. Dress up ur LARPs so they aren't sus, and you can conduct them without the bells+whistles that would get you no-knocked. Most of your skills won't require your weapon and armor to learn. At the end of the day you need three things and their friends in a real fight: Weapon: rifle, bore snake, CLP, hanky. Sustainment: Water, ammo, socks. Intel: watch, notes, map, compass. Everything else is details and details are mission imperative. If you don't know why you have it, you don't need it and if you don't need it, don't bring it with you. A lifestraw is good kit, but if you have enough water for your mission on hand, it's just dead weight. Body armor is good kit, but if you're not planning on getting into a fight, it's going to slow you down if you need to run. A ghillie suit is good kit, but if you're rolling in a truck, it doesn't work. If Know what you're supposed to do before you go out and do something and follow those principles, your gear should stay tidy by itself.

If you know the size of an object you can range it by using: size of object in inches ÷ object image size in mils × 27.77 = range in yards or × 25.4 for the range in meters. I think that card was helping them with the average size of objects and the math.
My philosophy is: 1) Gear you need RIGHT NOW on your front, 2) Gear you don't need as readily on your sides, 3) Gear you'll need later on your back, 4) Everything else goes in the ruck with similar priority: - Gear you don't need immediately, goes to bottom - Gear you will need soon-ish, in the middle - Gear you'll need once your back kit is depleted, at the top (ammo resupps, food, meds, etc.)
Learn to estimate distance with your reticles, about 5 Mils is avg shoulder length at 100 yds, and about 20 Mils is avg height at 100 yds. Eotech Circle reticle is set at avg height for 100 yds for examples. Effective enough.
Quick range estimates in mils are peak. Average male shoulder width is ~18 inches, divide 500 by how many mils someone takes up and you get a decently accurate range estimate without a real rangefinder. Person takes up two mils, 500/2=250m, another guy takes up 4, 500/4=125m. Only works reliably with FFP scopes.
And Cletus 200+ yards away with a 22lr takes them all out announcing " we got them there loot drops boys! Oh they got them nighty binoculars too!". Lol.
I'll pack 10+ magazines, maybe more. My rifle with ample ammunition usually trumps a lot of other stuff. I can live without a lot of the gear and kit. Without weapon and ammunition I'm a sitting duck and a loot drop for someone else.
Being in the military, there’s nothing more annoying than ppl who literally spend thousands on gear like this and Gucci rifles cause they think they’re operators when they could’ve just joined and did it and it actually have a purpose
Ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain. Minimize and prioritize gear down to a light day pack and belt kit, making use of pockets too. The reliance on convenience gear is unnecessary if you invest in training and quality tools.
I just use the thumb rule. If I’m looking at an object and it’s smaller than my thumb than it’s far away. If bigger than my thumb than it’s not as far away. 😂😂
It's a range card with ballistics info to determine how much holdover is necessary when he aims his rifle. You have to already know the distance for a range card to do you any good
@@valkyt9382didn’t they estimate the size of the truck by the mil size in the scope? Given that, the size of the truck may be estimated or known depending on type of truck, like 2 meters, then one knows the distance to the truck. They mentioned mil then distance.
@valkyt9382 while that range card might have that info this was using the mil dots in the scope to get distance based on height of the target. Not for holdover. I might have to pick one of these up tbh.

@@James_Edward59I don't know this exact approach right here but we usually use assessed man height for distance assessment (by eye, binocular or optic). If you know the distance between two points in your optics or the distance of a person the size of your thumb you can quite easily assess the actual distance. If theres no person nearby usually there's some other visual guidance on how high a normal person would be like a car, window or the clearing of a tree. The human brain is actually quite impressive when it comes to rangefinding, because we most of the time can quite exactly tell how big a person would be at that point, we just need to translate this information to actual distance.
Leave all that crap at base. Only when moving camp do you need to carry a lot of shit and even then it’s gonna be in a vehicle most likely. Only carry what you need for said mission. As light as possible, you cant be light enough.
Air soft players are funny. If they were military then the packs are all packed one way on mos load out. Sooooo you can get stuff off the dead or unconscious fast 😂
